But it's 2 on the east coast and I don't think we'll hear it today.
I don't understand it actually, breaking a story on friday is for bad news, not something you want to be in the news for as long as possible.
Maybe I don't understand the media thing, but I would have thought wednesday would have been the best day to announce. This way it's in the news and talked about for 3 days and when people are hanging out at the beach or barbque they could talk about it with friends and family.
Oh well, maybe it'll be Monday?
His campaign HQ is in crystal city as well. It's like a half skip to DC. You can get there in 15-20 minutes easy from Crystal City.
it's EXACTLY what they need to do. No more Mr. Nice guy. McCain has skated by too long on crap exactly like this.
It's a personality trait, not a measure of how much money you have. Yes, having more money makes it easier I think a lot of people are missing the point - even after several posters on Salon and even in this thread have pointed it out.
The great thing about McCain not knowing how many houses he has isn't that he's an elitist, it's that he's a hypocrite. He accusses Obama as being "out of touch" with "regular" americans but has 7 houses? And can't remember how many???
That's the story here. Quit arguing over the fine details and look at the big picture.
It's not. Except when you act as if you have had to struggle through high school, live on Ramen through college which you were able to attend through loans, then struggle with more loans through graduate school or law school...which at age 40 you finally pay off your loans, when in fact you had it a little bit easier.
Granted, being in Vietnam as a POW or not isn't a cake walk but besides that McCain has had a life not like the typical American.
Obama's story is interesting because as a graduate student of public affairs myself, I see his career path is very similar to many I go to school with. Most (I actually can't think of any) are not from wealthly families, do not have political connections, and have had to work for our success so far. It's very typical and McCain is not, from what I can tell, anywhere close to that.
are, from my perspective, probably people that don't even know Obama or understand the issues. They are voting on name recognition to start with and filling in the blanks as they go. Anyone that seriously supported Hillary and everything that she stands for, would be doing her a disservice by voting McCain.
I don't think these "Hillary supporters" voting for McCain really know what they are talking about or ever did. Voting for McCain out of spite isn't something they would do if they really cared about the future of this country.
apparently didn't know that McCain want's to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
So that basically supports my idea that these "supporters" of Hillary are really just name recognition and don't have a clue what they are talking about.
I really wish the media would stop talking about this "split" in the party and blowing things out of proportion. I don't think it's really that bad.
Perhaps the blogsphere is or the Salon letters section is, but it is somewhat of a dumb move that could play with the less educated voter. Why give McCain more negative ammunition? Marble columns is a shot in the foot.
A lot of you and others that support Obama are getting far too overconfident. You look at any of the polls lately? Time to wake up. This isn't going to be a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination.
The Republican tag on Obama is that he and his campaign are too arrogant, too self-aggrandizing, too into the grand image of Obama before he has actually been elected president (or, in their narrative, accomplished anything at all). True or not, it's a message that has taken hold with voters.
But it's time for liberals to start living in the real world.
EXACTLY
Thanks for pointing this out Alex. Too bad though I don't think many people here will recognize it. They are too "right".
Wake up people. You all sound like you did in 2000 and 2004. Quit living in your internet bubble where you see all the angles and know all the responses. You keep perpetuating this attitude, we are going to lose this election too. But I'm sure you'll know already who's to blame right?
I loved his comparison of candidate McCain with Senator McCain. Great stuff and I hope to see more of it or perhaps an ad with the exact same comparison.
I hate blowhorns...hate hate hate but I just cringed for MSNBC and wondered who was going to get fired for putting them out there. It's ok in theory, but man...that one person demonstrated how bad an idea it was.
I'll still watch MSNBC but not for the rest of the conventions :
He seemed rushed and spoke too fast for his points to have full effect.
It was good no substance though...the recycle line was awesome.
They accuse him of using misleading facts with....misleading facts? If that's all they got, wow. I hope the Obama campaign comes back and counters every one of those pitiful remarks so they don't get any play in the media.
