That's phonebanking

I've done that for a few local democratic races and I had the same response. I never understand why campaigns do it actually. It's a really rude and poor way to reach voters - almost like a robocall.

But that's what's worked in the past. When I called people for a county land commissioner spot here in Washington, I just winged it. I had the script in front of me but I just used that as a guide for talking to people.

I'm not sure what it's like for Obama's campaign but I'm sure they've moved on from the script stuff. I just don't see how it works. It's just not genuine and it's no wonder why they hang up on you.

He didn't say because he couldn't

McCain has agreed not to use Rev. Wright, so he got caught up on something he wasn't supposed to go with. I think he realized that and tried to play it off as nothing, which might have been better than saying Rev. Wright. If he had, he would have looked fine on TV (fine relatively for a hack like him) but he would have created a news story that McCain doesn't need right now.

Him taking the hit gets half a days news on left websites and blogs. If he would have said Rev. Wright is an anti-Semite then that would have been 2 days at least.

Um...I'm not so sure we'll all stay put

if there is a hint of voter fraud by the GOP. Things could get ugly if that were to happen.

Although, that's all I could imagine causing any bit of violence after the election of Barack loses.

Original article: When filth is not enough

Retiree with the job at Walmart

My mom is 59 and works at Walmart. She is encouraged not to use her medical coverage because if everyone uses less health care, your premiums will be lower.

When I saw him put on that name tag, it hit me a little more close to home than I would have imagined.

Very positive ad and exactly what we need in this country right now. Hope.

Xrandadu - Flag term

Flag is a term you use for Flag officers in the Navy, I'm not sure of other services. A Flag officer is usually an Admiral. On my ship we would have officers transfer their "flag" over to our ship when visiting from time to time.

So no, he's not crazy in this instance :)

Original article: Palin 2012 begins

I hope that Obama wins, and she does run

Then assuming Obama does well in his 4 years, he'll beat her in 2012 and hopefully we'll never have to hear about her again.

I liked it when he said "Joe the Biden"

LOL

He just looked ticked off that he's where he is. I liked his disagreement with polls and kept throwing Zogby around. He knows what's going on - He can see the writing on the wall and knows he has to make the best of it. What else can he do?

I really think he's ticked off at the fact he had to suck up to the Republican base so much to get the nomination and now he has to deal with all these horrible campaign people, the RNC, and yes, Sarah Palin.

He wanted to run his own campaign and he listened to the "campaign veterans" that gave him the calculated choices that didn't come close to working. He's simply pissed off that he made a choice that snowballed into what is the polls.

I do think John McCain is at his core a pretty good guy but he just let the people he vows to fight against run his campaign and they destroyed his image and reputation in the process. Although, I guess that speaks to his leadership abilities though doesn't it?

Loved it.

First candidate I made a donation to

and he wasn't even from my state. I made that donation early in 2002 and I bought his book about running for the Senate and really felt that he was what every politician should aspire to be.

When I heard the news it was out of luck that I saw his name on msnbc.com off in the corner. It was a sad bit of news but I wondered why it wasn't front page news. Perhaps it was in other areas but this is something America should be saddened by, not just people like me that spend so much time reading politics.

I only hope we can have more politicians like him in our future governments.

Too bad some people have come to this

And we don't have a partisan divide in this country?

Need to come together folks.

Poor ad

I think they should consistently be using McCain's own words against him. It's the easiest way to "prove" the candidate is "wrong" on the issues.

His comment about a Muslim being President was wonderful

Colin Powell spoke the most common sense I've heard from any high profile person in the country.

Original article: Sarah Palin on "SNL"

It was a Snorefest

I was amazed at Poehler too but god, the Palin sketches fell flat. I guess though, what else could they have done. She's a national joke. I mean really, what else? There *really* is no there there.

The rest of SNL sucked too. It was really bad. All except Mark Whalberg's little skit in the hall.

Maybe we expected too much. But it's Palin so....LOL

Elwyn Tinklenberg has raised 100k from dailykos alone since this

I somehow didn't get my money in that way but gave him 20 bucks through his site.

This woman has no place in government. I can't believe she would say what she did. Maybe talking points but I seriously think she believed what she was saying.

As far as Matthews, he's the only one that confronts people anymore. Name another journalist that is out there that actually calls people on their crap. You might hate Matthews but real journalists do not exist anymore. IMO, Fineman, Gregory, and Matthews are the only ones worth a damn anymore. There are a few on CNN, like Martin for example.

Friday, October 17, 2008 02:55 PM

I hope when she comes back in a few years

and she will...that she does this same crap. I don't think moderate American is buying it. This is great for the base but I don't think this stuff is working with anyone else.

Thursday, October 16, 2008 03:53 PM

Wow, now that I see the picture

You didn't think that was racist? JFC Just throw some grape soda on there to make it complete?

Christ.

Thursday, October 16, 2008 12:52 PM

I raise the BS flag on this one

What a load of crap.

Thursday, October 16, 2008 09:12 AM

Very smart ad

Last line is great. I always thought they should use his own words against him.

Nice work.
