I stopped payment of my DNC contribution this year. The first thing that ticked me off in the "give us money" letter was a blatant lie about Scooter Libby and accusing him of being indicted for outing Plame. Then their continued garbage campaign of accusing the Republicans of everything and hopping on this "culture of corruption" campaign is going to get them nowhere.
The Democratic party needs to start standing up and making some noise in the way of concrete ideas and actual plans, not just more hot air that got them 2 solid losses. At this rate, I'm afraid 2006 isn't going to be any different.
This type of rant on Salon.com is what irks me about anti-republicans (not all dems) today. It seems that they figure out whatever they can to slam the Bush administration, regardless of what it is about and spin it as negative.
Fact is, English is our only recongnized language in this country. Until spanish becomes one of those languages, the national anthem should be sung in English.
The constant hatred of democrats twoards anyone that doesn't feel the same way and obvious Bush Bashing (War Room is an EXCELLENT example) isn't going to get democrats in power. This is why in 2006 and 2008 I'm not expecting a change. In 2004 it was a foregone conclusion, the country hates Bush and there is no way he'll win. Look what happened. We were so stuck in our Blog bubbles and believed what our miniature world thought, was what everyone though.
This constant tearing down of the other side has to stop. It isn't building bridges between the parties. Not everyone is a fanatic. Connecting with the opposite side and trying to get them to listen to our ideas is the correct way to go about this, not bashing them and telling them they are in the same group of idiots as Bush. They will only shut you down and believe even more in what they do now.
I know you have to be "unique" as a critic and all but please stop blowing the movies flaws out of proportion. You really remind me of that Simpsons episode when Homer was a food critic and had to pooh-pooh everything he ate.
Yes, the dialogue could have been more but the plot did exist, the dog did have a part, and the movie was really well done. The costumes, the acting (I'll give you Orlando Bloom wasn't as good as he could be), and the story were great. It was fast paced and very fun.
It was a solid movie and I recommend it to all for a very entertaining time.
..and was hoping to see the glaring issues that ALL sides have but this was just another Anti-Israel piece that seems to be the norm.
"The way to break this cycle is for all actors to negotiate a political solution that responds to their legitimate grievances and demands. Everyone involved seems prepared to do this, except for Israel and the United States, who rely on military force, prolonged occupations, and diplomatic sanctions and threats."
Except for Israel and the United States? Are you serious? I don't even know how to respond to this. Maybe you should re-read that part where you said that all enemies of Israel still support it's destruction? If that's not an illegitmate grievance I don't know what is.
I wish Salon would get back to the great stories they had in the past, where one could see multiple sides of an issue and not this biased reporting that does nothing to solve the situation or educate the public to form an appropriate opinion.
and that is why Bush does what he does. The common person in our country isn't concerned about what is going on in the middle east let alone be able to point to Lebanon or Israel on a map. I look on the amount of knowledge I have read and taken in over the past 3 years and it dwarfs anything that even most of my educated friends know. Sure they see the news (if they even pay attention) but they are more concerned about their own lives and their own little world and don't trouble themselves with things that don't directly affect them. It all goes back to the fact that we have 2 large oceans separating us from the world and the fact that very little impacts our little worlds in which we live.
That is how 50% of the nation votes for someone like Bush. They think simply and in general. Terrorism bad, fight terrorism good. It doesn't matter how it is done as long as it's done. People trust our government, the "experts" and the people in charge. They do this because citizens long for leadership so badly that when Bush stands up on some rubble with a blowhorn and speaks his utterly horrible english, they follow anyway.
I wonder if Karl Rove came up with this one. Seems strangely similar to something the GOP would come up with.
or the previews I saw. I don't need Hollywood to tell me what happened. Hell, I don't think anyone that woke up that day needs anyone to dramatize the events. There really isn't much to say about this movie. I won't see it just on principle alone and I know many others that won't for the same reason.
This article describes the very reason I was so happy Lamont won last night.
Great point Swan. Letter in the works.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
