Steve Novick. Narrowly lost to Jeff Merkley (a nice enough guy and a good party Dem but not necessarily a progressive--got plenty of money from Schumer--nuf said) in the primary that ultimately led dislodging Gordon Smith. Steve Novick is the real deal. A true progressive. Brilliant, incredible personal story, and absolutely will not compromise progressive positions. His parents were activists or union officials (maybe both) and he's got a wealth of knowledge and experience in politics.
If he's ever willing to run again you guys should tap him. At the very least talk to him about getting involved with Accountability Now because he's definitely got the right stuff.
On topic--Rove is an ignoranus. I'm never one to generally wish harm on anyone but if he and Rush simultaneously choked on pretzels and passed from this earthly existence I certainly wouldn't shed a single solitary tear. Sad chubby little mean spirited clowns.
Isn't it time to change your Depends. The urine smell emanating from the basement must be particular nauseating to your mom upstairs.
On the topic of cognitive dissonance how do you explain the fact that your guy was in office 9 months, was repeatedly briefed about the specific nature of possible future attacks, did nothing, and low and behold a big old gigantic terrorist attack killing 1000s took place on American soil?
I don't remember any terrorist attacks taking place on American soil while Bill Clinton was president ipso facto "when Democrats are in charge you are relatively safer if not actually safe".
Better hope your guys don't get back in office and another terrorist attack happens given your track record.
basic Republican position is considerably more nuanced than that, favoring tax cuts and opposing big-government spending.
i.e. doing nothing or doing the same thing that got us in this mess which is tantamount to doing nothing.
The patent dishonesty of the right is mind-numbing.
like the west consuming less (particularly food and energy) would be a bad thing. So rich and glutonous that childhood onset diabetes is at epidemic proportions while a majority of the world's children are trying to survive on peanut paste. Maybe if the West quit trying to profit off the misery of the world's poor, instead help them with funding for sustainable irrigation and crops that don't need "petrofertilizers" maybe they could feed themselves. But where's the profit in that?
I'm a compassionate person, and want to help those who are hurt through no fault of their own.
Does that degree of cognitive dissonance afflicting your tiny peabrain hurt? Do you even read what you type?
Let me guess. Your "compassion" extends to those "you know to be hurt through no fault of their own" and in your omniscience you could name each and every one of those individuals and the sum of their life choices and experiences that make them "worthy or unworthy" in your capacity as one who is infinitely "compassionate and non-judgmental" and you could compose an inclusive list so that no "deadbeats of the European variety" are mistakenly assisted. Because of course that would be the downfall of "teh Amerika"--helping your neighbors and fellow Americans.
Lets get a big old "damn those European socialist allies of ours" and their egalitarian, humanitarian, peace-loving, health care for all diabolical deadbeat ways. It's not like they have a better standard of living, diesels that get 60 mpg, better system of K-12 education, less wage disparity, policies that actually promote family . . .
Teh Stooooopid it buuuuuuuurns!
I've always wondered what it would take to round up 250,000 like minded principled successful single people (because they have less to lose relatively speaking) who are ideologically opposed to immoral/unjust wars (or MIC generally) to, in coordinated fashion, refuse to pay their federal income taxes. Could it overwhelm the enforcement mechanisms in place and could it gain enough popular traction to make a difference? If it can't than the best we can do is try to conduct ourselves morally in all other respects and use the tools we have (free speech) to (re)conform our laws and national conduct to something more closely resembling "moral". Otherwise we are little more than sacrificial lambs to an ineffectual movement.
The two tiered American system of justice is a known quantity--rich USB investors offshoring their profits to evade taxes will get a slap on the hand, but the poor/middle class tax protester will get a nice 5X9 cell for a spell.
Wise up. Even Accountability Now can't help what's ailing your party. Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin, John McCain . . . you're joking right?
As much as the right has spent the last 35 years catapulting the "liberals(ism)--the enemy of America" schtick into the public consciousness, reality has an insidious way of breaking down monumental lies given enough time.
Be prepared to be in the political wilderness for a long time because your guys have nothing? The real problem is that your delusions are unshakeable. Righties are living in some Ayn Rand social darwinist millenialist fantasy world. Your part of the group that fundamentally believes government is the problem, and people are starting to realize that your leaders have no business being entrusted with the reins of governmental power if that's what you believe. You lie without conscience or sense of shame. But eventually people wise up. Why can't you?
