and that right wing ideology amounts to nothing more than moral bankruptcy and criminality, is old news. As unshocking as the sun rising every morning. We've known all along nobody in Dem leadership was going to jeopardize their imminent return to the trough for something as unimportant as the political accountability, the rule of law, morality, protection of our national reputation, founding principles, or servicemembers well being . . . those are antiquated concepts dontchya knoooow. They started selling us out the minute they attained the majority.
American guvmint is all about how much swag they can score (power and money) and the odds of them getting caught and held accountable if they break the law doing it (1 in 10 trillion). The laws is for da poor folks dontchya knoooow. I think they swiped their schtick (ideology) from Leona Helmsley 25 years ago sprinkled with equal parts Goebbels and Orwell (see The Book Of Rove). Dupe the religious dopes and you've got a fighting chance in any election anywhere in America. Gads this country has a defective soul . . . oops I got distracted by a shiny object . . . where was I.
that certain segments of the "conservative" base (and in fairness lots of Americans of all stripes) constantly drop to their knees in supplication before the "commander-in-chief" is intently disturbing to me. It is wholly inconsistent with civilian constitutional history and ideals and prima facia proof that this country, despite its illusions and delusions, has been badly brainwashed since WWII by the MIC and the domestic advertising industry. Think about this for a moment: The Navy recently signed a 30 billion dollar contract for 8 years worth of advertising . . . constant bombardment on public airwaves of advertising "selling" military service. I can't think in my brief 40 odd years I've ever seen 30 billion dollars of taxpayer money used to recruit teachers, solve homelessness, promote nonviolence, or some other worthy program . . . GOT MILK and EAT BEEF are about as benign advertising campaigns I've ever seen partially on the taxpayer dime though I doubt it was 30 billion worth. My point being that the very idea of taxpayer dollars spent on advertising service in the one institution of government that every family in America is intimately aware of (where to find them and what they're about) is as weird and wasteful as it is repellant. That's $30 billion not going to veterans care, job retraining etc. etc. etc. There should be a law banning advertising on the military just like certain ad prohibitions on alcohol and tobacco.
I'm sure the nattering nabobs of true patriotism will now be lining up to skewer me. God forbid the ads would at least show military life in its entirety not just the pretty uniforms, precise marching and opportunity to operate large ridiculously expensive machines designed to kill.
"Taxes. Spending. Gay marriage. Union associations. Lawsuit reform."
Taxes are the price of civilization. Collection and wise use of them is nonpartisan and should be for the benefit of the most. I for one would like my tax dollars spent on health care for all, not as a privilege but a basic human right, rather than maintaining a $98 billion a year antiquated nuclear arsenal. We might disagree. Fair enough. But put that way my guess is the vast majority Americans if told the true trade off costs of military expenditures would probably hold a "liberal" view despite your take. My other guess is that they would rather have their husbands, wives and children serving in the military better paid and cared for than Halliburton and Blackwater contractors. But maybe that's just me.
Spending. Spending? Really? Reagan and Shrub's profligate military debt financed spending on things that yield next to no return on investment or at the very best an extremely low yield is something you want to trumpet. Of course you might given it isn't you who'll be paying for it independent of underlying motivations driving imperialism with fear.
Gay marriage. Only an issue for fundies, morons, and bigots the rest of us see it as a US Constitution based civil rights issue i.e. all competent people of the age of majority who aren't relatives regardless of gender or sexual orientation should have the right to be as miserable as the next in the institution of marriage . . . just like you and just like in every other modern society worldwide without there being any evidence that it's destroying their "culture".
Union associations? Btw they weren't the product of state/federal judicial law making. Right to organize and attendant worker/workplace protections were a function of the legislative process (i.e. passage of laws) but like all laws interpreted by the judiciary. Is your knowledge of labor history that weak or just case law?
Lawsuit reform aka tort reform is an issue wholly created and funded by the likes of Scaife and its sockpuppets ATRA et al, not in any sense "grass roots" any more than the "right wing" of your party has "think tanks" producing enlightened thought. They are propoganda generators/disseminators and little else staffed ideologues or hacks who couldn't cut it in academia. GG has just about established that conclusively for anybody bothering with intellectual rigor or factual integrity.
If you really are a lawyer (hopefully you're just being deposed instead of deposing another) my question is who granted your JD . . . Liberty University Law School? That there are other lawyers in this country as ill-informed as you is quite scary. Or maybe you think the likes of Addington, Yoo, Gonzalez, Scalia et al are setting the standard for competence, ethics, and integrity. Are you a Federalist fellow traveler by any chance? Rarely win a legal argument on strength of reasoning but rather by convincing people that Constitutional principles were only intended as calcified ideas keeping a culture in its glorious past. Which oddly wasn't always as glorious as conservatives paint it out to be.
As a righty do you like being humiliated on account of your shocking level of ignorance.
