between holding out hope that President Bush et al be frog marched to the Hague for their massive collective well documented violations of law including but not limited to:

preemptive war, torture, warrantless domestic surveillance, and Pentagon propogandizing of America's citizenry with its own tax dollars,

destruction or corruption of every executive agency of government,

deregulating the economy to the point of collapse (to be fair that's all Presidents since Reagan),

engaging in the most vile and false culture war (well not "false" to the theocrats and christianistas who want to hasten the rapture and don't like or trust anything about a society that could be tolerant of non-believers or consenting adults who happen to love someone of the same sex),

and actively desiring that someone do violence to any of the above. Incidentally a desire that would be antithetical to the left liberal progressive world view which is by and large pacifist to the core.

Now personally I hope VP Cheney's human animal hybrid heart craps out on him during one of his phony canned animal hunts and because of the tax cuts the GOP has pursued with religious fervor for the past 40 years the paramedics don't have the requisite education due to NCLB, the right equipment or a working vehicle due to outsourcing and antiunionism, or functioning traffic control devices on traffic clogged pothole filled roads thereby making it impossible to reach him in timely fashion and he expires in a state of helpless hopeless fear that has been the hallmark of his wars and ideology. I'd feel bad for his family but I couldn't possibly shed a tear for his passing given the damage he has done to America and the world. That desire isn't born of any personal animosity I feel toward the man having never met him, but a function of what he's done to America in his cynical careere quest for power. And the faint hope that a little karmic justice is possible.

You righties really need to do some serious soul searching about why you believe in your own exceptionalism, are capable of very scary levels of cognitive dissonance, pursue your faith in such dogmatic ways, hunger for pointless wars instead of peace, and loathe the idea of actually trying (in the truest Christian sense) to create a more egalitarian compassionate tolerant world. Our stay on this planet is very brief and you think the highest human endeavors are tribal/family aggrandizment, demonizing anyone who isn't a faith or greed head, and overconsuming plastic, gasoline, animal flesh, and bad beer. Seriously what gives?

McCain's political expediency just to be fair includes but is not limited to: not disassociating himself from the very vile Pastor Hagee until he became a liability, actively aiding/covereing for Keating in conduct that led to felonies, picking an unethical Pentecostal loon from backwoods America (married incidentally to an avowed Alaska secessionists) to handle the "new-cue-ler" pill should old pappy expire, multiple physical and mental disabilities which he is not wholly forthcoming about, disguising the fact that he was almost kicked out of Annapolis twice once requiring the intervention of his father the other having someone take the fall for his naughtiness, the circumstances and conduct surrounding his destruction of multiple aircraft, the circumstances surrounding his divorce from his first wife, his serial womanizing while unmarried and possibly married, his penchant for gambling, and what appears a pathological inability to take a reasoned consistent stance on anything. But he is oh so mavericky and Gov. Palin wears such a gaudy flag lapel pin she must be incredibly patriotic unlike us loony lefties who have the temerity to document the systematic destruction of the legal system and illegality of the current administration.

Whatever seems to advance Sen. McCain's political career at any given moment seems to be his only modus operandi. But Sen. Obama is really scary and the entire corporate owned media industry really is in the tank for him. Is this sort of like the vast worldwide scientific community conspiracy that is pushing a false global warming agenda so they can personally bring down the world economy for their own narrow benefit? Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo . . . hey T. Suarez your clock is going off. Time for your mommy to bring down the decrusted PB&J sandwiches, juice boxes and Bugles. Are you wearing the Yoda print plastic footed jammies while you play on the puter?

but how does injecting capital into banks (other than increasing liquidity and "restoring confidence" among the lender/investor class who'll presumably be subject to more and better regulation which is thus far simply talk) solve a massive derivatives and reinsurance problem that has yet to unspool. Does injecting taxpayer capital into private banks simply provide time and breathing room for private sector players to do something with all the foreclosed mortgages and bad paper they're sitting on? If the underlying bad debt isn't addressed directly how can this be anything other than a temporary solution tantamount to artificially propping up the value of bad debt? I claim no expertise but something still doesn't seem right. Has the mechanism been identified that ensures that the "loans" aka "temporary nationalization" is recouped by Treasury? If so when and under what conditions?

I'm all for staving off epic economic collapse but I continue to be confused about how this is anything other than a little boy's fingers plugging ever multiplying holes in a very large dike. Assuming the problems are systemic and worldwide which they appear to be.
