AKA Smith
[Read the article: Leave Bill Clinton alone!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If he is a racist and all that you say that he is, then why would you want him supporting the Obama God?
AKA, let me ask you a question: Why do so many Hillary supporters think Obama is a god?
I would just like this answer from an Obama supporter: If the Clintons ran a racist campaign as so many of you contend, why do you want these racists supporting your black candidate? Why?
I haven’t heard an outcry from Obama supporters for Bill Clinton to campaign for Barack. I would say the opposite is true, especially considering the damage he did to his wife’s campaign. So, I was kinda puzzled by Joan’s call to leave him alone (though I didn’t watch much TV media this week). I think any invitation from the Obama campaign has been issued in the name of party unity and not because they think Bill is the secret weapon. At any rate, I don’t believe the Clintons are seen as racists; I think they are seen as opportunists who cynically used racist tactics as a wedge all in the name of politics.
Black people have a complicated relationship with Bill Clinton; I think feelings were hurt, but this is not the first time (by far) that Bill has used black people to score political point with whites—he is not the “black” hero the media as painted him all these years. Bill was the first politician to speak to black people, to reach out to us, but make no mistake, people give him way too much credit for helping urban black America. But we tend to excuse him for most things, so I’m betting this will be no exception. I also think Bill loves black people—after all, this demographic has been his fiercest advocate, even at his lowest point. I’m betting he wants to repair this relationship and wants desperately to campaign for Obama because black people not loving him would crush his ego.
Besides, as for me, I don’t like to see all the animosity. I think there is a large part of the electorate who is anti-Clinton, but I would not count myself among them. I have no evidence for this but anecdotal, but I would argue that a large number of Obama supporters don’t hate Hillary or Bill Clinton despite the disgusting campaign tactics used against Obama in the primary. (Unlike the many Hillary supporters on these boards who seem to hate Obama with the heat of a thousand fiery suns.)
Can you really defend the demand that the Clinton campaign for Obama without admitting your shame-faced hypocrisy.
Again, where is this demand? Who is demanding that Clinton campaign for Obama?
Dare to do it! Because Salon has a search feature and I can find the posts of many of you who claimed the Clintons were racists. Were they racists yesterday but not racists today?
OK!
My last words: Can’t we just all get along?

AKA Smith
[Read the article: Leave Bill Clinton alone!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Smith, don’t be miffed. You piss me off plenty but I hold my tongue (or keyboard) more often than not. And I don’t come here with the intention of getting into petty fights with people, and I try not to hold your inflammatory words against you.
We are so different, you and me, Smith. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that people see different truths because they have diverse perspectives. I’ve also learned that while the aforementioned is true, people are a lot more alike than they think. People just need time to get over trivial surface differences.
This is one of the reasons I like Barack Obama—he recognizes varied perspectives exist but does not feel the need to demonize views different from his own or use that as an excuse to halt progress. When we stop working together toward common goals, we lose—I truly believe the only way to move forward is together. That is why I engage with you and others who don’t think exactly think like me; we have a lot to learn from one another. Despite our different viewpoints, I like you (call me crazy)—your moxie and your spirit.
But I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s impossible to truly have good conversations in a forum such as this—people are mean, vindictive and divisive (not to mention completely unhinged) on these boards. One good thing I take away is that I don’t think they are representative of the majority—people are a lot saner in real life.

Bill Clinton likes the ladies
[Read the article: Leave Bill Clinton alone!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Premadoll, I'd be careful if I were you.
My sister got the opportunity to meet Bill Clinton once when she worked in the Chicago stock market. She even got to shake his hand. She was so excited!
But when Bill held her hand a little too long, stroked it a little too personally and spoke to her a little too closely, she was practically tackled by his security detail and told to move it along. He laughed, she laughed and she called out that she still loved him. She still brags about it; my sister is a pretty girl and recognizes a come-on when she sees it.
This is not saying he was not a good president; he just likes the ladies!

[Read the article: Obama's easy "Sister Souljah moment"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But I wanted to see what irrelevant thing the editors were spotlighting today and what do I find? Jeb is STILL lying her ass off about race and Obama!

[Read the article: Pregnant pause]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Viagra is NOT always used to treat medical disorders, and I don't know of any major medical companies that restrict payment for it for that reason. If you're saying that it's OK to insure Viagra because of that, then birth control--which can also be prescribed to treat medical problems--should get the same treatment by insurance companies.
