  • Dear Goldbugs

[Read the article: Ron Paul is a baby elephant]

Kindly see the following, a very logical, fact based and eloquent repudiation of goldbug nuttiness:

    http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-gold.htm

Like most everything else that right wingers claim, the problems with our monetary systems aren't the tools, but instead the user....to mix my metaphors and analogies, putting incompetent corrupt scumbags in the drivers seat, and then having their cake and eating it by taking it as proof that the vehicle doesn't work correctly so it is imperative that we throw the baby out with the bathwater in order to gain recourse.

Is that a convoluted mess? Well, that's the thought process.

I do think that the characterization by the author of this was spot on.....enthusiastic idealistic know nothings (who are in many cases ignorant to the degree that they do not realize the depths of their ignorance)......it never fails to astound me how people that want to depend on "the market" to fix everything know virtually nothing about how it actually operates.

  • Paultards

[Read the article: Death to the Fed! A Ron Paul manifesto]

Interestingly, I notice that we went though 4-5 pages of comments without hearing any irrational uninformed blustering by Ron's know nothing groupies. Could they be calming down just a bit and heading back to their parent's basements?

  • Making up their facts

[Read the article: The unhappiness of Woodrow Wilson]

I'm glad to see the tin hat Paultards sticking to their GOP/wingnut roots and despite their "breakaway" retaining the practice of making up their "facts" as they go along. After all, "It is because it is...that's what is".....

  • John Edward's wealth and success

[Read the article: Which Democrat is a winner?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Seen several comments on it.

I have kind of an interesting perspective (at least I think so) on this.......I have had the good fortune in the last year of going from being de facto "working poor" (waiter/bartender-@$1500 a month) for most of the last 10-12 years to shall we say respectably upper middle class (finally found something to do with my MS), within stone tossing range of six figures.

While my transformation was quicker and less dramatic than John Edward's (dirt poor mining town to extremely wealthy lawyer), I can report from being in a generally similar situation that my progressive feelings about social and economic justice, the class war, et. all haven't changed.

Just something to think about. I flip back and forth between favoring Edwards and O'Bama........but hell, even if Hillary takes it even as a bought and paid for tool of the special intersts, she is intelligent, rational, sane, and not prone to hallucinating phantom threats in lands where they have brown people we need to kill.....in other words, a 1000% improvement......also, she has GOT to have a vendetta against the right wing noise machine so watching that get played out with a Democratic majority congress would be some good watchin.

[Read the article: Hitting the canvass for John Edwards]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Upon hearing about this the other day, I was STUNNED at the full realization that a radically disproportionate amount of power in picking the person who will hold the mantle of being the most powerful person in the world can be (AS A WHOLE-there are certainly exceptions, including my own midwestern 97 year old grandmother who is well educated, sophisticated, and sharp as a whip)described as insular, homogenous, unsophisticated, provencial, somewhat prone to be easily manipulated if someone hits the right cylinders, excessively fearful.........

Our system really does suck and needs to be overhauled to help the right answers come out by having all voice given actual equal weight.

  • Karl Rove

[Read the article: Obama's got ground game]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Karl Rove is chasing the Republicans to cross the party line and vote for Obama, in order to knock out Hillary. He did it in Iowa and certainly in Texas. Those Republicans are not going to vote for Obama in November!"

Is this the same Karl Rove who "knew the special math" that would allow the GOP to keep congress in 06? That worked out pretty well for him didn't it?

I know that he is a favored boogeyman, but frankly, the guy hasn't been right about much of anything (and will hopefully be in a cold damp cell awaiting trial around this time next year)......his vaunted "political genius" is pretty much figuring out what the slimiest thing possible to do, and then doing it......I equate this to winning a football game by spiking the Gatorade and running an AK-47 burst across the shins of the defensive linemen. GENIUS I tell you!!

Regarding Hillary, one of the reasons that she is in trouble right now is that she made some major strategic mistakes, spending frivolously early in the campaign for example, and also underestimating her opponents. Guess what-the SAME skill set that would have prevented her from making these mistakes is the one that would make her an effective president.......while I'm sure she would be functional (a hell of an improvement on what we have now) in the White House, this is validation that she is sorely lacking in some areas.
