Why would we expect anything more from small minded people?

Incurious, uninformed, wallowing in their ignorance... do we really expect anything from these people other than to vote for the white guy?

Yes, that is directed at those who think Hillary would have done any better. Sorry, you're deluding yourself... the only reason Palin is palatable to these people is because she is in the #2 spot... right where the woman should be, next to her strong (white) man.

And before you attack, I would have been happy with either Hillary or Barack or any of the other more highly qualified white guy Dems running... even that adulterer Edwards! But you can't reason with people who refuse to engage their brain cells.

mkburr is spot on!

Nice speech... please forward it to the Obama website, asap!

I'm glad to see the Commission on Presidential Debates isn't falling for any of this crap.

Manchurian candidate...

Whenever I hear the diatribe about Obama being the Manchurian candidate for Islam, I always respond that we have no idea what kind of brain washing McCain underwent in Vietnam. For all we know, he is the true Manchurian candidate for the Vietcong...

What a sad joke this campaign has become.

A comment about what riconap103 said:

I suspect that all that cool calculating aloofness for which everyone fault's Obama is actually someone thinking things through in his mind, forming the thought and then presenting it in a structured manner. At one point when my hubby made a comment last night that Obama wasn't answering the question at hand, I responded: "wait for it... it's coming." And sure enough, he was just providing background to frame the answer more fully.

We Americans aren't used to having intelligent, thought-out answers anymore. We are now used to simplistic memes (McCain), pandering and talking points (Palin), or just incoherent gibberish (Bush).

Another reason not to vote for someone "just like me"... I want someone that is much smarter than me, and I suspect most Americans are ready for this too.

The McCain campaign has stolen everything else from Obama's....

... so why should the "new economic policy" be any different?

This will be a very good Thanksgiving indeed!

Original article: McCain's last stand

According to AP, McCain won

I opened my morning paper for the debate analysis, and per AP McCain won for "keeping Obama on the defense". Really? So being argumentative, twitchy, and sarcastic are apparently the only prerequisites for presidency these days. Good to know!

I could only think during the debate: "Is McCain going to roll his eyes during negotiations with Putin?" "Will he interrupt the EU heads mid-sentence?" He was small, petty and belligerent. Certainly not what this country needs at this moment.

Shouldn't the headline state: Fey-Ferrell '08??

Meet with an attorney, figure out your options

Buzzardwest: You were very fortunate. Fortunate to be living in the same area and fortunate to be retiring just at the right time to begin care giving. Most are not that fortunate. In fact most aren't fortunate enough to retire, but that is for another discussion.

My father has been diagnosed. He's on meds now to slow the progression, and is still fairly coherent. However my parents have no savings. We recently met with a Medicade attorney to plan for the eventual placement in a nursing home. As an only child, my hubby and I will do all we can to help before then, but we are limited in what support we can provide. We cannot move to where they live, nor can we uproot my parents to live here.

My mother began freaking out several months ago when the realization hit her that her life partner would no longer be able to participate in keeping their lives going... and she began to lose it. Meeting with the attorney at least made her realize she has options and won't be left penniless and homeless.

She sounds like a lovely person....

But as long as the pre-nup is in place and your brother is no fool, I'd go ahead and try to make amends to this woman. Not that she deserves it or that you were wrong to begin with, but for her to get so worked up over this 2 years later speaks volumes about her, not you.

Your brother will appreciate the fact you're trying to make things easier for him and may just trust you to be the confidant he may need in the future.

It's easy to get wrapped up in family drama, especially since you were the wronged party. But your brother's well being should still be the focus... as others have stated already, sounds like he's going to need your help later.

I agree with saintzak...

I also want to know why :

- every letter writer is highly intelligent.

- every highly-intelligent 25 year old thinks their lives should be wrapped up at this point.

You're posting text messages now? Really??

Where is Seth and Amy?

Seriously, I have to agree with the other comments. How sad are we when a lifetime of charity and good work is flushed away in our eyes because she went for a position that may have been slightly our of her grasp? At least Ms. Kennedy tried. I don't fault her for that.

Two comments:

funwithtrees: There you go thinking logically again! The right wing is incapable of thinking logically, critically, or sensibly... or maybe at all. They have talking points handed down from on high, and that is what they stick with.

Mr. Reich: Thanks for getting out there and attempting to provide some sense of sanity on the cable news and MSM shows. When I see you're going to be on the show, I will watch with relish at you smacking down the talking points with actual data and facts.

Please keep fighting for the rest of us. We've determined long ago these guys are playing fast and loose with words now that the money has run out. I'm really not interested in what Rush/Jindal/Boener/Canter/etc or any of the screaming financial reporters have to say.
