  • STOP WHINING!

[Read the article: Hey, Dems: Run against Bush -- and toughen up -- or lose in '08]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Nobody can be worse than Bush.

Any one of the Democratic candidates will make a better president than what we have now. Don't you get it? We cannot afford another Republican president to pick one more Supreme Court Justice or pick one more unnecessary fight around the world.

Hillary's my girl because I want to make history and see a woman president in my lifetime, but I can live with any of the other guys, preferably Obama or Biden. II'd be mildly irritated to have to watch Edwards crooked mouth for 4 years, but I can live with that, too.)

  • Speak up, Joan!

[Read the article: A new democratic spirit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Joan, I'm a fan of yours, but what Over 50 writes is right. When you go on TV to face all those men at a time when a woman is running for president, you have to speak up. Whatever your feelings towards Hillary are, you can't just sit there as a woman and let those guys roll over her.

I feel that most punderettes want to play "I'm-one-of-the-guys" and don't really bring any female point of view to the discussion (Donna Brazille is an exception.)

Example: pundits are still wondering what happened Tuesday in NH. It was the older women, stupid! And it was not Hillary's emotional moment (please stop saying 'crying' and 'tears', there was none of that) It was the Boston Herald front page: "SHE'S SO YESTERDAY." It was the "wax museum" remark. It was the "Iron my shirt" incident. We was dissed!

Hell hath no fury like a woman made to feel old and useless.

  • Looking for MS Perfection

[Read the article: Why I'm still not for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Skylark is right on the money. I'm always baffled at Democrats insistence on "perfect" candidates. Al Gore wa boring. John Kerry was stiff. Hillary Clinton is "polarizing" (what the heck does that mean?)

Then, look who the Republicans choose: the guy they want to have a beer with. Well, I don't drink beer. I don't want to elect a pal. I want somebody who has a brain, speaks proper English and has the moves to play in the international arena. The fact that she's a woman, is icing on the cake for this Baby Boomer.

Frances what's her name and other picky-picky women are going to give us another Republican president--probably a guy you'll want to go to a revival meeting with. Hallellujah!

  • THERE WERE NO TEARS

[Read the article: Clinton has "Girlfriend posse" to thank?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why do people keep talking about Hillary's "tears"? There were no tears. She just had an emotional moment that anyone who had been under the barrage of sexist and ageist attacks she'd been through could also have.

Yes, I believe women pulled Hillary back from the brink. And not just women, but OLDER women. Nobody's mentioned this, but as an older baby boomer, that Boston Herald front-page screaming headline "SHE'S SO YESTERDAY!" did it for me.

Who do you think made it possible for a woman, an African-American and a Latino to run for president in 2008? We did. I'm proud of those old gizzerettes in NH who clamped on their dentures and grabbed their walkers and ambled to the polls to say, wait a minute.

    Go, girls!

  • STOP TWISTING THE FACTS

[Read the article: The tracks of her tears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It burns me up that people keep repeating lies and distorting anything Hillary or Bill say. Bill Clinton did not say Barack Obama's campaign was a fairy tale. He was talking about Obama's position on the war in Iraq. Hillary did no shed any tears. Hillary is right that it takes all the branches of government, led by a determined president, to make dreams become legislation.

All candidates promise and promise, but they rarely mention the fact that you need Congress to pass legislation for a president to sign into law and that you need a fair and balanced judiciary to apply it.

So many uninformed bloggers makes my eyes misty.

Go, Hillary. It's your party and you can cry if you want to.

  • THE OTHER NON-WORKING WOMEN

[Read the article: Clinton's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Carol, you failed to acknowledge an important pool of non-working women: retirees. Women over 60 voted for Hillary overwhelmingly.

As an older baby boomer I was offended by sthe "She's so yesterday" headline, the "wax museum" remark, the "iron my shirt" incident. I believe New Hampshire women-of-a-certain-age felt the same and marched to the polls in larger numbers than expected.

Women of my generation also had a dream: to have a woman president and before Alzheimers sets in, by golly, we are going to try to make it come true.

  • Where in the world is Maureen Dowd?

[Read the article: Oops, she did it again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I used to collect Dowd's columns. Some of them were brilliant. Now, I can't hardly read them anymore.

And instead of Kristol, another conservative middle-aged white man, why doesn't The New York Times get a Latina columnist? Hispanics are already the largest minority and their voices are rarely heard.

Happy birthday to your fine daughter, Joan.

  • Hillary rocks!

[Read the article: More about race and the Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

She was magnificent in her mano a mano with Tim Russert on Meet the Press. He, on the other hand, looked a little discombobulated. Why is that? Male PMS?

    Hillary-Obama '08

  • Vicki Hillary-basher

[Read the article: The Democrats defeat the media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You obviously hate Hillary and would never admit she was magnificent Sunday on Meet the Press and that tonight she won the debate.

The media have had a field year bashing Hillary. The media created the so-called race war by only showing snipets out of context. As Joan points out, the media was put back in its place tonight and Sunday morning too.

Hillary will win all the way. So start getting used to it. Now.

I'm rooting for Hillary, but if Obama wins I'll be delighted, too, although I'm not sure he will be able to withstand the Republican dirty tricks hate machine and win the White House. I'm an older baby boomer and in the 60s and 70s I marched for civil rights and womens rights and to bring an end to the Vietnam war. I don't know how many more years I will live, but it sure would be nice for me to see a woman president taking the oath of office before my time's up. I think it is now or never---for me.
