The magic shield - in response to an earlier question.

Actually if you google it, and it has been in the American Medical Journal, Scientific American .... pregnancy before 30 does decrease cancer rates in women by a significate rate.

The last link on the benefits, note the one about your periods - one of the causes of infertility is irregular menstrual cycles. Pregnancy frequently improves and restores normal menstrual cycles - fertility still goes down with age, but if you've already had a child, you've extended your regular menstrual cycles out for a few years, also infertility can be caused by a lack of fertility hormones (estrogen, progesterone, folllicle stimlating, luteinizing, gonadotropin) these decrease with age - but after a pregnancy they go back to normal(or are increased by the pregnancy) - atleast for awhile - so you've removed two possible causes of infertility by having a child. Having a child before 30 improves the odds of having a child later. That doesn't mean forever - everyones fertility is still declining rapidly after 30, its just a matter of odds. (And that 30 is not a hard and fast rule, it depends on genetics and when women in your family start menopause, it could be earlier or later)

Original article: Boys skipping school

Skipping school

Solution: make school less boring. Bull, college is exciting if you bring a passion for learning to it - and no one can give that to you, the thought that education should be entertaining is bull - calculus, physics - what the professor should dress in a clown suit?

I suspect traditional gender roles are the real issue, traditional gender roles of the parents, that when the daughter got a B was grounded and told to work harder, and when the boy got in trouble, and got a C was told boys will be boys. If the parents had come down on the male child equally as they did a girl they might have a sense of responsiblity - which teen males seem to lack.

Do you make your gender different kids do different types of chores, does your daughter wash dish every night? Does she keep her room clean. Now what daily chore does your son do? Is his room clean?

In college, the men were slobs, they'd never cleaned up after themselves before, at least 50% had never done their own laundry before and had to have it explained to them, they couldn't cook, and slept til noon, and gamed all night. Now the rare guy, who wasn't a slob, knew how to do laundry, was of great interest to the women. (And I won't start on personal hygenine)

Teach your sons basic housework, hold his homework to high standards, and when he goes to college a responsible young adult, he will shine above the rest of the guys.

Note, I generally didn't like the political mind set of the guys that had gone to the military first, but they all knew how to clean, and do laundry and show up on time to class.

It could because they are a couple of years older, or because the military gave them the discipline their parents let slide.

Original article: Democrats: Sí se puede

Illegals can't vote by Mexian Americans who feel threatened can

The letters go on and on about illegals - but Kennedy wasn't talking to them, but to the young people marching in the parades who are not illegal - they are citizens, born right here in America - as American as the white boys posting in outrage to this board. And they can vote, illegals - can't

They are marching, because one of their parents, or a grandparent is illegal - and if the law passes they will be losing a parent, or a grandparent, how would you feel if the government came into your home and took away an aging family member?

They are marching, because even through they are 3rd/4th generation Americans, they are brown, and their names sound Mexican and immigrations raids, and behavior of the government frightens them, and makes them think that other Americans don't think they are American no matter how many generations they have been on US soil.

And as for the rest, my family came to the US in 1676 - and they were illegal as hell, and stole the land from the natives. So unless you are NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN - you are the descendent of an Illegal immigrant who stole the land from the native ethnic group. PERIOD -

People forget alot of the Irish who came to the US were illegal - because we didn't want those dirty Catholics, or Eastern Europeans, many of the Chinese from the last century were illegal, because we allowed the men to build the railroads, but didn't let the women in legally, because the US didn't want the dirty yellow bastards to breed.

Something’s never change, and the current crop of white men whining about those people are illegal - are the same ones that wouldn’t let in Chinese women, who tried to stop the Irish, and Eastern Europeans - read an 1890 newspaper, and word per word - quotas, impact to society........ damn you guys might as well be quoting those historical idiots, but don't worry your grandkids will find you just as funny in their history classes.

Original article: What else we're reading

Great for kids , but terrible for mom

If she stays home, she doesn't pay into Social Secruity, which means when she is old, she will get fewer benefits, and if she diviorces , she might not get her husbands benefits - not working creates poor old women -- the majority of elderly poor are female. They are poor because they have little in the way of social secruity because they took care of kids, a function our society doens't really value. If they'd worked, they'd be better off now.

A young woman who stays home with her kids, maybe doing what is best by her kids, but it is not what is best for her wealthfare in the long run.
