Is she paying taxes on her income?

She is not his wife, and the amount of money seems to exceed the gift limit -- and she admits this is a working relationship -- she is stupid for trying to capitalize this -- because if she has unreported income, she is in for a nasty tax bill, and fines.

Its about connections

My town (Portland) has lots of nice bike paths, and zones on the streets -- but my issue is as usual, is that I can't actually get to were I want to go without leaving a path/zone and heading into traffic with cars. Frankly I am a coward, and most car drivers don't check for bikes when turning right -- my heart can't take all the near misses.

The difference in the Bogota solutions -- sounds like they are connecting paths in such a way that you can get from A to B without ever venturing out into traffic and a need to compete with a car.

On Portland's one day a year when the bridges are all closed to car traffic, they get tons of riders out on the road. And one of the bridges has a dedicated bike/pedestrian crossing, but to get to the bridge without going through traffic, is not possible from my location. More bike corridors - with zero interactions with cars would be great.

Fed is zero -- but your credit card rates are going up

The Fed going to zero has no effect --because the interest rate charged by banks for credit cards, and some types of credit are not tied to the Fed. The news has been full of stories of credit card companies so strapped for cash, they have been raising interest rates on customers who have never been late or abused their credit in anyway. They are also adding fees -- your credit has never cost more.

Until the deregulators of the Rep era - confess how they abused the general public -- we will not get out of this trap. Rules like we use to have that said cards could only charge x above the Fed rate.... there is no limit, and that eats into peoples ability to spend, and makes them want to pay off dept even faster - which has a negative effect on the economy. Regulate credit cards - and you might make a difference.

Original article: Lionizing the shoe thrower

Actually odds are in favor of torture and death for the shoe thrower

"Savor the irony

The very freedom that Bush brought to Iraq allowed this "reporter" to engage in his juvenile act. Had he done this under Saddam, he'd have been hauled out and shot.

Yeah, this guy is real hero material."

Odds are he will be tortured and shot -- what fantasy land have you been in? This man is risking his life to show how much he feels about what Bush has done to his country. Something so noble - is no doubt beyond you.

Before this became broadsheet - it had articles for adults about womens issues

Now it just has drivel. (shout outs, fad science -- how old are the writers? They all sound like upper middle class early 20's who've never had to grow up -- go write for 17 magazine - through you might be a bit immature for them)

Topics more worthy of the broadsheet please -- can we bring this section out of the gossip mode it has slipped into since it was changed from the old title?

How about the article in Time on the number of children being raised in the Philippians without parents -- because now both parents are overseas working.

With all the arguments over if legalizing prostitution will protect women or increase trafficking -- how about an investigative piece - you know to get at facts not the endless opinion of folks who are clueless. Police numbers, interviews with actual trafficked women, violence against women states in areas with high prostitution. FACTS, FACTS -- those things this column hasn't seen since the format change.

Perhaps articles on how little birthcontrol methods have improved over the last ten years, and reasons why....

How about actual news pieces, not another story about a one off research project with weird results that will never be replicated.... how about some real science?

How about the conditions of women around the world who maybe helped or hurt by the actions of women in our country - yes (surgate motherhood in India ) except I don't want the emotional pieces that get people to argue-- because it pushed buttons -- but pieces with hard facts and numbers from NGO's, the UN and government agencies dealing with the issues -- I want facts from Broadsheet -- I can come up with my own emotions, thanks

Original article: WTF of the day

What paid for the internet

What makes the most money for the internet - porn -- creepy - yes but without it making money the other things we use the internet might not of happen.

Female sex bots - creepy yes, but the cost of making robots, and doing the research, (And Japan needs them to take care of an aging population, without enough young people - not all the old had kids, and some of the kids have to work on other jobs like keeping up the infrastructure and the economy) well this kind of nonsense will pay for the necessary research to build robots that can do basic cleaning, dangerous jobs, and care for the old. Look at the age pyramid - no matter how you feel about strangers caring for elderly, the old are the largest group in the US and Japan, there just are not enough young people to give personal care to the old. Something will have to pay for the research to make this possible, and the only ones willing to pay that kind of money -- that makes it possible - are pathetic guys meeting their sexual needs -- face it in some ways they drive the economy when it comes to gadgets, internet, and robots... what would we do without them?

(I want my house cleaner to --and it doesn't need to look human)
