Your problem sounds more like my eldest daughter - who's problem was finally diagnosed. She has almost no short term memory. Her IQ is high, she is great visually, spatial is good. But give her auditory instructions with no visuals - no matter how simple - she can't follow it. Because it doesn't store in her memory.

It frustrates her teachers, because she is obviously bright, but the next day anything she learned auditory only, is 100% gone, no matter how well she appeared to have learned and understood it the day before. We found out that after being in advanced math for years, then getting kicked out, her current teacher didn't make hand outs, didn't teach from a book, but talked and walked around the class. She couldn't remember her lesson the next day, or even follow the class.

We were accusing her of never listening to us, turns out she can't listen to us. She needs it in writing, or repeated five times at least so it will store in long term memory.

Give her a math book, and she can figure it out and do anything - tell her how to do a math problem , and she doesn't' remember a thing the next day. On top of that, we had to get a battery of test, and an IP - (special education requirement plan) to even get her teachers to believe she had this problem. They thought she was to bright to have a disability, and it was just normal teenager inability to listen that was the problem.

She has lots of skills for getting around this problem, but as she gets older and more subjects are taught by lecture, it is getting harder for her.

And yes its just anecdotal, but don't all groups of women tend to have one "Samantha" type that makes up sexual volume the rest of the girlfriends don't have? My circle of friends are under the 4 partner number, but one friend makes up the numbers plus a ton. And now that we are all married w/kids - she still is.... From personal experience - I'd say the numbers are right and it is women out side the sample - hookers, and people like my one friend who are making up the difference all by themselves.

What I find odd, guys with tons of experience are not made unhappy by having lots of sex. But my girlfriend unlike the tv character is not happy, but compulsive - and needs the sex, which she doesn't even like but she really needs guys to like her.

This study doesn't take into account so many things.

Perhaps the sample group is to small, because women with high volume are rare, and not enough were captured in the sample.

The fact that there are more females than males in every age group, therefor the mean and average for females would be lower.

IE if the number of males and females in the population is not equal - women + mens mean can never be equal!

Also there are outlying groups, prostitutes are not an insignificantly small group, and the volume they can have would have an impact. There are probably more wifes/girlfriend from other countries, then husband/boyfriends from other countries.

And lets face it there is no male equalant to a female prostitute - most male prostitutes are for male customers. And they are called mail order brides, because they are female.

Then there is an easy way - so what is the average gay males partner rate? What is the average gay female rate? If they reflect their hetro counterpart, my guess would be they are reflective of the rate. My guess would be both would be higher than the hetro report - but proportionally so - ie gay women would have far fewer partners than gay men, in the same ratio difference that straight women claim to have to straight men.

In the Netherlands were it is legal, as many a tourist knows, they have a unique problem, more demand than women willing to go into that line of work, but hey the Russian mafia has a solution, they kidnap young girls from the refugee camps in Eastern Europe and force them into prostitution. Or a nice Dutch couple puts an ad in an Eastern European newspaper saying they want a housekeeper or a nanny and would pay alot, except when the girl shows up guess what?

Interpol and UNICEF put trafficking in human beings for the sex slave 3rd after drugs, and gun smuggling for profits. And point out that it might over take the other two, due to laws being slow to recognize the problem. The women/kids don't speak the local language and rarely can ask for help. And if they do are sent back home to were they are endanger.

Legalizing it, when there are not enough women who want to volunteer to meet the need - makes the illegal kidnapping more of a problem. Yes it happens in all of Europe and the US - but it is whose in the one country where it is legal, because the activity is hiding behind the legal. And it is hard if not impossible to make laws to deal with this that don't also impact legal prostitution.

So by legalizing it - the Netherlands has a worse human traffic problem than the rest of Europe. And while you're at it look at the rate of rape in Nevada - it is not bucking the trend that sexual violence against all women is hire in places where sex work is legal.
