  • Take a break from your misery.

What a bunch of grumpy bastards. A guy writes a piece of "pointless drivel" and the world stops turning. You have no idea how much I appreciate all the hand wringing you bleeding hearts do for the rest of us slackers. But, please, don't stop. We need you there on the front lines, reminding us of all that is wrong with the world; every damn moment, of every damn day. Believe me, your magnificent suffering does not go unnoticed.

  • Do the flip test.

[Read the article: When is it time to stop "canoodling" with our children?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm the father of two grown daughters, but if you saw me with my ten-year-old daughter on my lap "canoodling," I'm guessing most of you would find it inappropriate and downright freaky. I know I would.

  • Satire?

Yeah, Linda, you're a regular riot. Stop it. You're killing me.

  • Here we go again.

Is there no end to this woman and her preening? I fear that in a few years we might all be subjected to a cutsie essay on how good the lad is in bed. Please, I beg you, stop Ayelet before she writes again.

  • Another subscriber on the edge.

[Read the article: I was conned by JT Leroy]

I've been a premium subscriber for a couple of years. But over the last few months I too have noticed the change taking place with Salon. It used to be that I couldn't wait to read the days articles with a good cup of coffee first thing in the morning. Lately, I find myself opening CNN news first. I thought maybe I was just getting old and cranky, but after reading the responses from many of you, I realize it isn't just me, the quality of this once fine ezine has deteriorated to the point that it may not be worth the money anymore. And as for the latest submission from Ms. Waldman, I can only had my disappointment that something this trite would make it as the day's lead article. JT Leroy? Never heard of the guy/girl/whatever. After reading the piece, imagine my surprise at having to then go to the NY Magazine site in order to learn just who the fuck he/she/whatever is/was/might be. Come renewal time, I will have to think about what I'm getting for my money. I hope the powers that be at Salon are listening to what their subscribers are saying. Please. Do not take us for granted. You can and should do better by us.

  • Same old same old.

Poor Ayelet, she just can't get a break can she? After reading the few pages of her latest, all I can say is: "Ho-hum. Yawn. Anything else to read out there?"

  • What Washington needs...

[Read the article: The reform charade]

is a good scrubbing. Too many career politicians, making too many decisions, based not on what is good for the country, but what is good for their careers. There is only one way to solve this problem and it is a simple one. We just throw the rascals out. What we have now is nothing more than a collection of theives, cheats, and liars of every stripe. I'll say it again: Throw the rascals out!

  • And now this...

[Read the article: With no word from Cheney, "The Daily Show" stands in]

Old Dickless not only shot someone, but that someone is a rich lawyer! More proof that God does indeed have a sense of humor.

  • Heading for the bottom.

Back when Bush and the Republicans took control of our government, I remember telling my children that it was going to be both enjoyable and painful to watch how completely this cabal of nitwits was going to self-implode some day. I would think the goal for all of us now is to do what we can to keep King George from doing as little damage as possible. I believe a good place to start is for each of us to begin rejecting the concept of red state/blue state. We need to get back to being Americans first; political leanings be damned. This is not the time for an Us/Them mentality. After the midterm elections, if the Democrats can somehow pull their heads out of their asses, perhaps the amount of damage the worst president in history can inflict on us and the rest of the world can be minimized.

  • No dirty talking allowed.

Ahh, poor Cintra. Your night was ruined by the lack of dirty words, was it? Love to give you my phone number. I could talk dirty to you whenever you like. Actually, as a practicing foul-mouthed bastard, I rather enjoy not having to listen to it when I watch TV. Yes, I know, the world is full of pain and suffering, hate and war, but forgive me if I don't feel as if anyone is trying to disguise that fact when men in tuxedos and women in evening gowns don't scream FUCK in my face. Maybe it ruined your night, as for me, I find it kind of fucking refreshing...bitch!

  • The joke's on us.

The Prada, the parties, the passion! LOL! Cosmo is sending their rejects to Salon, right? You are only putting this out for our amusement, aren't you? Please tell me I'm right. Please?

  • My Way

I hate to be a pain in the ass, but didn't Pual Anka write the song My Way? Would seem Joe is quoting the wrong philosopher, wouldn't it?

  • It's time someone said it.

Engelhardt's essay put words to what I have been feeling about this memorial for some time. Why must we make a spectacle of our grief? The Vietnam Memorial is a fine example of how to memorialize our dead. It is a quite place of solemn reflection. A place where the dead are honored in a way befitting those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It is past time for America to come to its senses. Yes, 9/11 was a devious and tragic event. Yes we have a right to our outrage. And yes, I would like nothing better than to see bin Laden hanging from a lamp post in Times Square. But as Englehardt says, it is time for America to reacces our place in the world, and building spectacles to our wounds is not the way to do it.
