Mwwwhahahahaha!!!
Putting aside Glenn's quite-correct reaction to the concept of any civilian being ordered to do somethign by the government, does Joke Line *really* think Verizon, AT&T, et. al., are going to provide "written proof" of their compliance with the White House's request to spy on citizens? As if there even is any? Like there's a paper trail...
What drugs is this schmuck taking (and where can I get some of them)?

To me, one thing missing in all the establishment media's breathless coverage is how Ivins died. It's widely reported he committed suicide, but how? Who found him? What does the death certificate say? Who performed the autopsy/investigation and who signed the death certificate?
It's obvious to anyone with a room-temp IQ things are not as they seem.

The entire McSame campaign should be dismissed.

The GOP campaign pros (among whom I do not count McSame's staff) are probably only now coming out of aortic fibrillation. What a boneheaded play -- did they really think Obama is so stupid as to fall for this?
Absolutely the correct reaction, Joan. Except you could be a but more disgusted by McSame's blatant selfishness at such a time, as I am.
But feel better, soon. Next few weeks are going to be filled with more days like this. Stay strong.

Geez, Andrew. I think we went to separate schools together...
Paraphrasing an earlier poster, though: It's only rock and roll. That said -- and even if tragedy hadn't struck Lynyrd Skynyrd -- I think Neil Young would've won that culture war without breaking a sweat.
I got out of home ownership in 2007. I saw some of this coming, but a relocation to Florida made mandatory selling the DC-area home I bought in 2002. It'd be a lie to say I was wise; just lucky.
I'm renting a huge house outside of town for less than my mortgage in No. VA. I took a stab at buying in FL, but it just wasn't in the cards. Again, I was lucky because the house would've dropped 10% in value by now, with no end in sight. I knew that going into that deal and accepted it because I wanted a place to call "mine."
I'm perhaps better off than many -- and especially better off than those facing foreclosure. While I'm sympathetic to upside-down homeowners, I'm also sympathetic to me. I've done everything correctly -- I have good credit, everything I own is paid for, I didn't overpay for the house I sold, I didn't get upside down, I didn't end up buying something to watch its value crater -- but I get nothing out of any of this. I don't even get to buy another house at rock-bottom prices because foreclosure relief will "artificially" prop up prices.
Those facing foreclosure resulting from job loss, some other personal economic upheaval or from predatory lending should get some kind of relief. Those who simply don't want to continue to pay on a house for which they overpaid should be sucking it up and paying for their own greed. The predatory lenders should go hunting with Cheney.
Is society's only reward to me from acting responsibly a warm-fuzzy and the absence of stomach acid in the foreseeable future (until my job is eliminated and I can no longer afford even to rent)? What's in it for me?

After all, why not...
