Bush Administration & Israel/Lebanon: We Don't Give a Damn

Remember when the U.S. had some credibility in the world? When we tried to stop wars instead of instigating them? When we weren't torturers and kidnappers led by chickenhawks? When the rule of law and the Constitution meant something and our republic had a time-tested system of checks and balances? When our government was run by competent people who tried to solve some of our problems, and didn't want to give away the store to corporations and the super-rich? When the truth was simply the truth, not lies or spin manufactured as "reality?" When the slaughter of civilians in Israel/Lebanon/Gaza would elicit an immediate response from the U.S. Department of State in an attempt to stop the violence and broker a peace deal?

Boy, I miss Bill.

Tell It Like It Is!

Over the past 8 years, there have been many times that the Bush Administration has been found to be lying (very often after the fact), but the mainstream press has been so scared to call Dubya and Dick on anything that the Republicans probably feel very confident in saying whatever they want--no matter how outrageous.

Thank god the Obama camp had the guts to finally call a lie a lie! Sadly, the majority of the American public is not going to take the time or effort to read several news sources everyday in order to educate themselves about the candidates and their policies. They prefer to be spoon-fed sound bytes from the evening news or go with whatever the TV campaign ads claim. So, the Dems have to hit McCain/Palin hard--answer every lie with the truth. They try to bloody our noses? Hit them harder and blacken their eye! (Kerry really lost 2004 because he never answered all the vile swift boating attack ads, remember? Americans do seem to respect people who are willing to fight hard and even dirty to win.)

Our country is in terrible shape--I'm not sure we can survive another four years of Bush/Cheney type policies...

The Dems have to fight hard for the presidency. I hope this ad is one of many, many more to come!

Go Obama/Biden!

Thanks, Glenn!

Glenn:

You are so on the money with this one--thanks for writing it down and putting it all out there.

It has driven me crazy watching our fellow Americans on the far-right vehemently defending corporations (!) and the status quo (46+ million people without health insurance!?!?!) in this whole battle over health-care reform. The health insurance company CEOs and their friends in Washington must be mighty thankful (as they count their massive piles of cash) that our great country (and I do love it, despite all of its shortcomings) can produce so many ignorant people willing to screw themselves for the sake of some twisted ideology and out of fear that poor people and immigrants (legal or not) will be getting over on them somehow.

When did we all lose our collective empathy for each other--and for those less off than we are? Time to tune out the hate, folks. Turn off Fox News and pull the plug on Rush and his ilk!

Let's just get it over with--establish a universal health care insurance plan for all Americans (Medicare is already in place, works really well, and doesnt' waste massive amounts of money), so anyone can see a physician when they are ill and put the health insurance companies (who are not concerned with our health, but with making money!) out of business!

Outright Lies are the New Truth

This is yet another example of a classic right-wing/GOP playbook move. Tell an outright lie, and then when the lie is debunked or even questioned, angrily blame the "liberal" mainstream media, the liberal bloggers, and the Democrats for trying to keep the "real truth" (AKA the right-wing/GOP lie) from the American people. Then the lie becomes the gospel truth for the birthers, deathers, and far right-wingers, etc. that live among us.

The whole process is incredibly cynical and detrimental to any honest effort to fix the real problems of the average American (education, health care, jobs, housing, infrastructure), yet it seems to work time and time again--and keeps the powers that be in place, happy, and rich.
