They took my deadly fork once

Just wanted to join the bitch fest and share.

Ultimately the best way to pressure the airlines, and therefor the TSA, is to stop flying unless you really need to. If they are smart enough to run billion-dollar businesses, they should be able to figure out that people don't appreciated being treated like cattle.

Original article: Torture and the rule of law

Since people insist on bringing up Obama

Obama has consistently opposed torture. Clinton and McCain have both flip-flopped on it.

@ron

Quite making excuses for [Obama], none hold up.

I didn't make an excuse for Obama, I made a factual statement. He has consistently opposed torture. If changes his mind at some later date, you can bash him for it.

@Taliesan

If politicians could win just by agreeing with what the public says in polls, the Democrats would win every election cycle. Most people agree with the Democrats on almost all of the issues. You have to anticipate how the issue is going to be framed. Alas, history suggest that the Republicans are going to be successful at framing most national security issues to their own advantage.

I'm not paying $30 for this

I can find this kind of innuendo on the Drudge Report, and it's free.

Original article: It's Biden

The fatal report card

In his first three semesters, his grades were C's or D's, with three exceptions...

Yes, we all know how important report cards are in elections. ;)

Anyone who has seen Biden speak knows that he is a sharp guy. No one will care about his academic records. (Some people may pretend to care...)

Republican lite?

-it's Republican lite all over again.

Uh, hello, Obama had the most liberal voting record in the Senate last year. Just how much of a left-wing purist someone can be and still get elected?

Friday, August 29, 2008 02:28 PM

Just shows the GOP is 25 years behind

Palin is just passing through a glass ceiling that Ferraro shattered a quarter-century ago.

@teresawymore

To quote Katha Pollitt:

To vote for McCain, a feminist would have to be insane.
Saturday, August 30, 2008 05:17 AM

How the McCain people found Palin

First they Googled:

female Republican pro-life

This gave them accomplished women like Kay Bailey Hutchison and Liddy Dole. There was a certain something missing though... So they Googled:

female Republican pro-life young hot

And out came Palin. Hooray!

I love moms (and have one myself), but...

I’m starting to believe that America (even though many may not chose to admit it) thinks that a mother can’t run the country (it’s irresponsible).

Being a mom doesn't disqualify someone from running the country, but it isn't really a qualification either. Or to put it differently, any qualification that applies to tens of millions of people isn't much to brag about in the context of a Presidential election.

Besides, the other candidates have raised children, too.

Saturday, August 30, 2008 05:37 AM

@sonofloud

Yes, Bush and Quayle won, but Quayle didn't help. McCain seems to be looking for a game-changer here.

Saturday, August 30, 2008 06:08 AM

@sonofloud

Obama "bought the delegates/superdelegates he needed for the nomination"?

If so, he should be joining Ted Stevens in federal prison. Let's see the evidence.

Recipe to win elections

My husband loathes Bush/Cheney so much that he couldn't understand how I'd come to this conclusion until he read some of the atrocious letters about Sarah Palin's sexuality, genitalia (primary and secondary) and all the filthy tide of insults from people who have the audacity to call themselves "liberal".

Apparently some liberals should just pretend to be Republicans and write offensive things about Obama on the web. People see this evidence of some sort.

Saturday, August 30, 2008 03:11 PM

On the Internets you can't tell

Do you think it might be a good idea to lie off her retarded child?? Geez! You guys are going to lose this--for the whole country!

Assuming that helping McCain amounts to "losing" for the poster...

Monday, September 1, 2008 01:50 PM

I 90% agree with Obama

However, let's not forget that Palin's boosters were literally claiming that raising five children is good preparation for being President. So the calls we are going to see from the Right to leave her family alone just underlines their hypocrisy.

And this isn't a bad time to point out that McCain himself picked on Chelsea Clinton. Obama has more class.

GOP on privacy, in a nutshell

Ain't nobody's business if WE do!

Monday, September 1, 2008 06:39 PM

For those who are offended by this story...

Imagine how the righties would have reacted if Obama's teenage daughter got preggers. They wouldn't be cheering his family values, that's fer damn sure.

Don't get me wrong -- the coverage should stay within the realm of decency. But to just look the other way? Fuggitaboutit.

Important point that has been missed about the baby story

The only damage that the Kossacks did to the Palin family was political.

The story about the kid was going to come out sooner or later. You can't hide the existence of a human being without breaking the law. And they were going to get married all along, right? That's would also be a matter of public record when it happened. The sole effect of the Internet rumor-mongering and subsequent media attention was to make the story break before the election.

So when you hear the GOP complaining about the evil liberal bloggers, remember the only thing they can complain about is that it possibly harmed their electoral chances.

But does Palin COMMAND the 49th Missile Defense Battalion?

If I'm not mistaken, active National Guard units work for the President, not their state governor.

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 01:52 PM

McCain and Palin are like Christian rock

They superficially "rebel" but rarely violate any of the tenets laid down by their overlords.

Thursday, September 4, 2008 04:05 AM

Impossible to imagine?

Even as an angry "hockey Mom," it is impossible to imagine her browbeating CIA analysts to concoct new rationales for invading Iraq.

Why not?

To keep this in perspective

After the Democratic convention in 1988, Dukakis had a 17% lead over Bush. There's a reason they call it a "bounce".

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 04:34 PM
Original article: Crazy time

Remember the Dukakis bounce?

After the Democratic convention, Mike Dukakis was ahead of George H. W. Bush by 17%.
