See way back in the 70's when the data came in that girls were'nt doing as well, the government and schools stepped in to improve the situation...now girls are excelling and boys...are the same. The difference is now...feminists are in complete denial that attention should be paid to this fact (because radical feminism is really a special interest group). As an aside, I wonder what the male/female ratio of teachers were back in the good old days compared to now. I wonder how many boys were diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and and put on drugs for no reason back in the day.

I think the reason men are no longer interested in teaching is the pay. I don't think pay has kept up with cost of living, so although it use to be a profession that could pay the bills, it is now best described as a secondary income. I know many radfems say that because women went into teaching the job has lost respect and pay ...but from my perspective it's economics 101 => supply vs. demand.

Why do I always get the feeling Joan's primary reason for many of her blog updates is to try to take credit for being right in the past, when in general she has been consistently wrong. And then writes follow up posts which "amplify" her previous posts which are essentially a re-write of previous communications. Joan screamed sexism and misogyny throughout the primaries, while lying about "not making up my mind" about who she supported. She has consistently been hysterical about racism charges and essentially alienated any white male in the country with the exception of the most radical koolaid drinkers. I can't speak for ivy league moms opting out, but I can say that most of the stay at home moms in my neighborhood are college educated. So were all three of my sisters. So was my wife. These are all women that "opted out" until their children were in school full time, and then re-joined the work force. So whatever the census says....I think any survey of mid to upper middle class suburbs would lead you to college educated SAHM's....if not, high-powered career gals. But there has always been something about city dwellers that make them ignorant to anything or anybody that's outside the reach of public transportation.

I do not know one stay at home dad personally. That must mean they don't exist !?!

My understanding is at least one of the women worked for David Letterman....not just a coworker.
