Original article: Why your marriage sucks

Feminist Problem

From everything I can tell, the death of marriage appears to be a feminist funeral. From my perspective, the death of marriage is greatly exaggerated. It seems to me, feminists are coming around to the big lie that they can have it all, career and family. And now that they are exhausted and bitter, they lash out at men and marriage....huge surprise. Is this discussion happening anywhere outside the feminist echo chamber ? Anyway, this isn't necessarily bad news, I think of it more as evolution. The people that can't keep their families together will be pushed further and further to the edge of society. This is good news for my family and descendants, as marriage remains and always has been rock solid for generations.

@weirdo

Victimhood is not an american trait, it is a feminist trait. That's a pretty broad brush your painting with, considering feminism is an extreme group and a distinct minority in the US. Just to be clear, I am talking about today's feminism, not the equal rights view which has been mainstream for quite some time.

Feminist Writers

Always come to the same conclusions.....It's da mens fault. Anyone who has read Amanda Fortini's material knows she sees sexism where ever she trains her eye. The mental gymnastics to spin this study is just another example. I cant wait to we get a BS take on the study that showed women can't bear to look at ugly babies....I'm sure it's because they know that men wouldn't want them to.

Phonies

When a feminist like Sandra Tsing Loh has an affair, it's because marriage sucks, but if Mark Sanford has an affair, it's:

"stupid and selfish and hypocritical and weird and humiliating to his wife"

Wow, talk about hyprocritical phonies.

Sanford's Hypocrisy

For those calling Sanford a hypocrite, it's hard to disagree. But I do agree with his message that we SHOULD set the bar high on moral values, just because we, as humans, sometimes fail.... that doesn't mean we should lower the bar. I don't think there is anything wrong with striving to be your best, or preaching the same to others.

Reading these letters makes it easy to see why only 20% of the country identify as liberals....your just as extreme as the right wing.

@play_with_squirrels

You completely ignored the point of Franklin's post (casualties) and then proceeded to promote all of YOUR insecurities.

@rm2gro

I have no idea how you connect Sanford's lack of support for gay marriage as a hypocritical act in light of him cheating on his wife. Is there some direct quotes from Sanford that can connect the dots on this....I really don't see how they are even related, outside of the schadenfreude it allows you. Really, how does cheating on your wife relate to gay marriage !?

@rm2gro

I forgot to answer your original question. The high moral value we should hang onto is being faithful to your spouse and promoting that value. What's the other option, don't promote being faithful, because people fail at this ? It appears the feminist response is, "Marriage is dead".

Clinton

Did all of you think President Clinton should resign after he lied about his affair ? I voted for Clinton, and I know I thought the idea of him resigning for lying about an affair was a ridiculous thought....I think you fellow Dems need to do some soul searching. Ideology isn't everything.

@d.c.eric

Since I have been monogamous for 25 years, I think it's safe to say the bar is not too high, at least for me.

@trudy_b

I would think that anyone who got married believed in the sanctity of the institution....otherwise, why bother ? So the question is, should people not talk about the sanctity of marriage for fear of failing some day?

@tregibbs

It sounds like from the venom in your post, you have seceded the moral high ground to the Republicans. Just because they try to claim it, doesn't make it so....I have always chuckled at some of their machinations about family values. I never thought that they had the high ground, why do you ?....they are, after all, politicians trying to work a winning message. Even though I vote Democratic, I believe in family values, so that makes me the enemy, too...I guess.

PS...what do you mean by "you and your like" ? How do you want to stereotype me ?

@Sonny

I already mentioned Clinton...so nice try.

@jebldmm

I don't disagree with your reasons for Sanford resigning due to dereliction of duty. I just wonder how many other governors would go down if held to the same standard.

I don't know why I am defending this guy...I don't like him or his policies. Maybe it's how pitiful he looked in that press conference. Maybe it's the mob mentality that has formed since. Maybe it's because, sometimes I wonder if one day the wrong woman came along, I might make the same mistake.

email

I think there should be legal follow up to the release of the emails as an invasion of privacy. I would not be shocked to find out his wife released them. It's one thing to have email records subpoenaed, it's quite another to have personal emails "leaked" to the press. How many people have access to your personal emails ?

These political wankers never have a problem getting laid for one reason, power. Admit it ladies, power is an aphrodisiac. That's why fat bald guys can still get laid.
