Only One Solution

As we have already seen from our liberal friends, compromise is not exactly in their vocabulary. There's gonna be unhappy people on both sides. The government needs to get out of the marriage business, period. All rights that are available to married couples need to be transferred to civil unions. Marriages should only happen at the religious ceremony of your choice, everything the government rights and ceremonies should reference civil unions.

What Knecht Said

I agree with her four points. I do believe that points 3 and 4 are subjective and could result in a fairly heated discussion about what the minimum amount of force is required for self defense.

@MMM

Agree completely. As usual there are many asshats with their head in the sand that don't read anything outside the feminist echo chamber.

Great Joan

Good to see your 2-3 weeks behind the rest of the country. Better late than never.

@Asehpe

I don't want to discuss this with you, because you seem to have an endless amount of time and your use of obfuscation makes discussions with you unfruitful. You ask if I want to debate the studies of men and women contribution to housework, but what MMM stated, and I agreed with, was the total work done by men and women.....not just housework. The studies are out there, you go find them.

Division of Labor

Here is a study which shows that men and women are doing essentially an equivalent amount of overall work. And coming from a feminist institution like UM, you can believe they did everything they could to paint a different picture.

Now, can we have the same discussion about when women will start paying their share ? Should I stomp my feet and talk about how lazy women are that they can't pay their share of bills, taxes, dinners, etc ? Stop working part time, stop asking for flexible hours, stop working in fields that are low paying....wahhhh, wahhhh, naggggg, naggggg

@Anonymous_too

I do all those things and more. I often kid my wife that anything that requires sweat is considered my job.

Exactly. So how does that shoe on the other foot fit ? Not so good I imagine.

Original article: Rap made me "do it"

Under My Thumb

As anyone who follows music can tell you, degrading music has been around for a long time, as the rolling stones song from 43 years ago in my subject line will attest to. Yes there are no references to ho's and such, but after all, it has been 40 years. As far as the user experience, I think it more likely that parents that are open about sex are also more likely to think rap music won't change the behavior of their kids, and hence allow them to listen to it (guilty as charged). Lastly, why are these type of rock/rap stars so popular ?.....I think we need the women to explain the "bad boy" attraction.

More Propaganda

TCF, may I suggest you go back and re-watch the video YOU posted in August about the survey of 27000 men and how they define masculinity. Hint....money had nothing to do with it. Respect, honor, self-reliance....ring any bells ? So if there is any cultural message about men losing their masculinity, it's not coming from men, i guess the first place to look would be in the feminist echo chamber...where it seems to be a continuing theme. Gee girls, maybe you should ask your friends and see what they think ! You know, those real men who wash the dishes and vacuum for you.

@Asehp

One more time. This is not about me. OK? I hope you can say the same. I spoke of the feminist echo chamber....not feminine. Are you saying only women are feminists ? How do you define yourself ?

Moving on...are you saying "the banker who doesn't know what to do" is equivalent to "the banker lost his masculinity"? Didn't think so. So don't make this about me, or try to minimize my input by saying I seem angry or mad. It's about sending out a continuous negative message about males. It's about my son. It's about his son. It's about your son. Wake up.

Once again we have continuous propaganda spewing from this blog that is taken right out of the republican playbook. Here's the formula (I believe I TRIED to explain this to you last week). Take a false negative headline about men. Reference all the negative supporting data from various sources and string it all together in 4-8 paragraphs. Finish by adding a personal anecdote that says you don't believe what you just spent all the time reporting.

Check out fox news sometime and see if they don't use the same formula.

@Asehp

I suggest you provide a link to another site that does investigative pieces where 90% of the article is spent covering the opposing view, and exactly 0% uses referenced material to support their own view, and the other 10% is personal anecdote supporting their own view. It would also be helpful if this site is consistent in using this apparently common "model".

The fact that you dont see this continuous negative presentation tells me you dont want to see it. Ideology.

From my perspective, feminism wants and pushes for a masculinity crisis....only then can feminists try to re-define masculinity for us. This is why this subject continues to come up....almost always in the feminist echo chamber. Go back and read the Wapo article, there is no reference to masculinity. Exactly 1 person interviewed mentions his "manhood", and that is in the context of being a provider. If you recall from the poll of 27K men, they did not include provider in their definition of masculinity, they included self reliance. So to remind you of one of your favorite recommendations, you shouldn't extrapolate the opinions of a few people onto the larger population.
