I am not surprised you "disagree" with the father bullshit. Unfortunately for you and most of the deep thinkers here at BS, this has been statistically shown in every study done on the subject. That doesn't mean there are no children raised without a father that who are wonderful, it means statistically;
85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes.
71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes.
75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes.
70% of juveniles in state operated institutions come from fatherless homes.
85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in fatherless homes.
80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes.
90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes.
Which mean children from fatherless homes are:
20 times more likely to have behavioral disorders
9 times more likely to drop out of high school
10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances
9 times more likely to end up in state operated institutions
20 times more likely to end up in prison
10 times more likely to commit rape ... and
32 times more likely to run away from home
I suggest you educate yourself.
Glad to see the Salon editor-in-chief promotes sexism freely within the BS think tank.
Does the Illinois House have access to all the evidence that the prosecutor has ? I'd like to know what their votes are based on.
This is a non-starter political ploy TCF has taken the bait on. Comparing Palin's treatment during a 2 month nationwide election campaign and the appointment of a Senator, which is a state matter, have next to nothing in common.
Your ignorance is on a par with LW.
Does that mean i have a green light to dump my wife of 20 years because she refuses to work full time ?.....oh that's right she gets half of everything i have and 50% of my net salary......nevermind.
For all those who want to ensure gender equality in the stimulus package, might I suggest a compromise ? The percentage of revenue that each gender contributes to the treasury should be equivalent to the percentage that is targeted for the stimulus package. That's fair, right ?....Oh sorry, you meant another massive female giveaway...this is getting boring.
Glad to see feminists still can't agree on anything. Once again, people seem to be putting on the rose colored (x-ray?) glasses. Obama will no doubt get some pro-women legislation passed, but I would hardly call him a feminist. It should be clear by now Obama is a centrist. He is not going to sign legislation being pushed by the radical wing of the party, it's not worth the political capital. But look at the bright side, we can all agree he is definitely better than the other guy.
"Her male colleagues would never be subjected to this speculation and judgment -- about their fitness as fathers and how their decision impacts generations of men."
This is a completely ridiculous statement.....even for TCF....They actually would be subjected, but only by the feminist echo chamber.
I agree that women should not be left out of a stimulus program. Unfortunately the author seems to think this is a big giveaway..it's not. The intent of the recovery package is not just creating jobs, it's to stimulate the economy for long term economic benefits. It might be good to keep this in mind when looking for free handouts.
This is another subject that requires attention. With every study ever done confirming that children do better with a father in their life, I would like to see the government take steps to make this clear and incent families to stay together. Revamping family courts and divorce/child support laws would be a good start. It would also be beneficial for feminists to stop pushing the big lie that women can do it all....your hurting our children.
I certainly don't want to be in the position of supporting George Bush, but you mentioning the girls splashed by acid is just ridiculous. There will always be pointless acts of violence that occur which doesn't change the fact that Afganistan is in a better place than when we went in. Would you say that the US should be invaded and liberated based on the woman who set her boyfriend on fire in your backyard ?
Many of the repro-rights that were lost in the bush years were implemented by VOTERS not Bush. It's great to have a boogeyman, but most of BS complaints are really a problem with the majority views of the general population....even Republicans in the minority can get propositions added to ballots. No, the bigger problem feminists have is they continue to alienate the very people they need to effect change. Keep on keeping on.
PS...Women and children first is not chivalry or an orderly withdrawal plan. It has always been about continuing the species....darwinism ... with men sacrificing/risking their lives to ensure their gene pool continues. Given the virtual elimination of that possibility today.....maybe it is time for "every man for himself". I am sure today's strong fabulous women would have no problem with that.
Glad to see some things never change. Covering the inauguration of Obama and we still have to hear about Hillary and her supporters. Rebecca I suggest your change begin with releasing your Hillary dogma.
I'd be more impressed if Obama cut off all international funding that did not have a direct relation to preventing military conflicts. Sorry, but our economy is in the worse shape it's been in 80 years, the banks are essentially teetering on complete collapse, and we are applauding restoring funding to enhance mexican "choice"....hooray !
Good for you recognizing it. It's incredible to me the amount of navel gazing that goes on at this site by middle aged women. You'd think they're still seeking acceptance from the cool kids.
