Hijacked

Now that the thread has been hijacked....glad to see all the men/women haters show up. For the folks whose views align with broadsheet propaganda.....your missing the way the real world works. There have been many generalizations about how men and women behave, most of them representing personal views based on how they have been wronged in the past. If you want to know how the majority of men and women behave....you won't find it here.

Get a clue

Women getting wasted so they can have casual sex is not feminism, it's pigism. The fact that your confused by this is clearly at the root of your ability to digest this study. Do you think a majority of parents are out there encouraging their boys to get wasted so they can have casual sex, but the girls don't get the same encouragement ? Do you think parents say it's ok for the boys, but it's not ok for the girls ? I think you need to work on your own sexual issues, I don't think they are related to feminism at all.

It's Practically Unanimous

That this story is a huge waste of time....what a great topic for broadsheet !

Agree Completely

Any woman who wants her man's face clean shaven is a disgusting pedophile.

You Gotta Love

The crowd that see's this subject as a male security thing. Do you have to be a PUMA to believe this ?

Hypocrites

How does purchasing a razor blade cost anymore for a woman than a man ? And to all you purists out there, who say there should be no trimmed bush.....I guess it's a given your married to a mountain man ? hypocrites....especially you laurel962.

Spin Zone

So she is quoted as saying she did pinup work because it paid better than secretary work. How does this get turned into a lack of options ? Propaganda.

Homage?

This homage to Susan Sontag seems to only include her supporters view and ignores the many critics who saw her as a poser who dealt in shock journalism. Public intellectual ?....maybe in your women's studies class.

Good Sign

I see this as a good sign that Obama is not going to kowtow to the various special interest groups that make up the Democratic party. It should have been obvious from the last 18 months Obama will be governing from the center...which is the only way to be successful. Cut out the left and right wing radicals and govern with competence, that's what I voted for !

Scary People

Wow...reading through these letters, it's incredible how everyone personalizes the story. This is not about your life people ! Assuming the details are true, the guy is doing the right thing to ensure his ex-wife's health and then moving on. If the LW can't wait...dont wait. If he doesn't come back...he doesn't come back. End of story.

"37% of AMERICAN girls have been sexually abused"

Bullshit !

@corny

u shouldn't throw numbers around that you have no clue about. I can provide references that support those numbers being BS....can you offer any to support your nonsense ?

PS....I'm not into gender roles.

Who Said ?

I haven't read any quotes stating David Paterson wants to appoint a strong feminist. Sounds more like a feminist editor linking to a feminist blogger about a feminist congresswoman. Can you say echo ?

Tuesday, December 30, 2008 07:28 PM

@juliebird

Interesting take. Hard to argue with you opinion, however I never thought that was much of a consideration....to match voting records, gender....what about age ? Should the person be the same age if gender is important, what about race ? Also, does that mean women shouldn't be candidates for other open (male) positions like Obama's and Salazar's ? Gender politics suck and so does faux news.

The point of my original post is the assumption in the story that David Paterson wants to appoint a strong feminist has not been reported anywhere else that I have read.....so it starts with a false premise....and hence becomes propaganda.

Follow the Vagina

Of course there are strong male feminists. The question is, how many male feminists are being debated here....or at digby or at feministing ? No, a vagina is required. My previous extrapolation on age and race was sarcasm.

So Sad

This list is incredible in how poor it is. Please Joan, resign, Salon has become a piece of shit under YOUR leadership.

The PC Crowd

I hope David Paterson does appoint Caroline Kennedy, if for no other reason than to shut up the politically correct crowd. Gee, let's hear what Joan or Digby think.....Not ! Caroline has as many credentials as St Hillary did when she ran for Senator.

As usual, Rebecca's take on just about everything is off....but what is really surprising is how childish this article is.

Douchbag Obsessive Sociapath

Ummm irony much ?

Thursday, January 8, 2009 04:29 AM

Feelings

This is not an issue at all about race, or Burris. This is strictly a legal matter. There is nothing wrong with Obama not wanting the embattled governor to appoint a replacement with a shroud of suspicion surrounding him, and then supporting the appointment. It's called the law. It's no deeper than that.

No Marriage....Not Good

Unfortunately that good news about not pushing teens to marry now means these bastards will be brought up without any significant father presence. No matter how much the feminists crow about this, it's universally recognized that the single biggest positive factor in a child's upbringing is the presence of a father. But don't let facts ruin a good story. And let's not think for a moment that the push by feminists for acceptance of casual sex has anything to do with slut culture.
