@jbi

"1) After 25 years studying and working in a male-dominated field, I have yet to meet a man who wants his girlfriend to be "slutty" (although a few have enjoyed being promiscuous themselves), unless by slutty you mean "enjoys sex," which would be pretty high on their list of desirable characteristics in a wife."

I wouldn't extrapolate too much about men after spending 25 years with chemists.

(2) Most people associate "modern woman" with independence, education and career (not with the world's oldest profession). Men often respond to surveys that they would like a more traditional wife, yet mysteriously every single woman I went to graduate school with completed her PhD (chemistry), married and has both children and career.

The modern woman definition actually came from TCF, not me. Not sure what your point is about your married friends.

(3) You say "As I have said many times"......never say anything many times, it's boring. Unless it's telling your spouse "I love you."

Thank you for this great insight.

@anony2

I think last count you have something like 533 letters of whining.....just saying.

I have good healthcare. My wife has good healthcare. My kids have good healthcare. My parents have good healthcare. All of my sisters and brothers have good healthcare. Yes it's expensive, but I guess when you have a job, it's affordable (I know, how asinine!). It sounds like men whine when they are treated differently as a group....women fight the honorable fight when their treated differently...how modern of you ladies ! Get a job.

PS I love women....I hate radical feminists....let's be perfectly clear about the differences. If you need an explanation, see wikipedia.

Male Anxiety

As I have said many times, men love modern women (slutty) as girlfriends....they just don't marry them. Why is it so shocking that a man doesn't want to marry a woman he can't trust ? Mandatory dna testing at birth might change this.

Diet vs. Lifestyle

As someone who has quit smoking cigarettes.....again, I can kind of relate to Kate's take on the mathematics of quitting. But the point is people do quit permanently and people do lose weight permanently. I think what Kate is missing is it's not a diet that is going to do it....it's a lifestyle change..... that's the only way to make it permanent. I have to brag that I also lost 20 pounds in the 3 months since I quit smoking (which is almost unheard of). I suspect I will lose a little more weight and remain off the butts.....as long as I keep paying for my gym membership.

Your Feeling Better

And I'm feeling worse. So men will now pay more for healthcare, so women, who use more healthcare, can pay less. Only in a feminist echo chamber can this make sense. Is there no end to the "special treatment" ? More pay for less work, more healthcare for less money, more childcare for less money, it's as if our whole country will now be structured to support single motherhood....and we have plenty of data to show how that turns out. I can only hope that the fringe views of radical feminism remain marginalized.

The Flip Side

Since affirmative action and public service jobs seem to be Joan's high points, can you post a link to your coverage of gender preferences in the education system ? Surely you are fighting with the same gusto to get male teachers into schools to ensure all the benefits of "diversity" ? Crickets. How bout Nursing....are you pushing for gender diversity ?.....Crickets. Maybe we should all be fighting for more white guys in the NBA.....crickets. This shows Joan and all the other radical feminists to be nothing more than a special interest group, more for me, more for me, ...pay no attention to my hypocrisy. Phony.

Feminist Writer as Career Choice

As a CTliberal said before, this ground was already covered 20 years ago. I have never been accused of being a modern man as Rebecca Traister would define it, but I raised my kids 20 years ago and did more than my share AND ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. The reality is, once you make a career choice that is essentially writing about gender stereotypes, there is obvious motivation to continue to see the world through that prism. Just who are these people that Rebecca runs with and why are they so many years behind the rest of civilized society ? I am starting to believe that radical feminists have no way to attract quality men, and therefor judge all men to be similar to the rejects that are willing to listen to their BS.

White Men

As a group, don't think they're owed anything. What we do want is a level field to compete on. Clearly not something feminists want. Affirmative action is quota's.....quota's mean non-compete. Why are feminists so afraid to compete for anything ? Are you so afraid you can't win, that you need daddy government to "allocate" all your advancements ? I know my three college educated, employed, successful, democratically registered sisters don't think that way. Oh, wait if they earned their own way, that must make them.....privileged !

Healthcare

Another area where women can pay less in and take more out. Another victory for women everywhere !

Competition and the Middle Ground

What most of the country prefers, black or white, male or female, is a fair competition.... the problems arise when the far left (feminists) comes in to "make special rules" so competition no longer matters, but forced results do. You remember Joan, the same thing you tried to do to get Hillary elected. Since you are assuming Chris Matthews, et al represent all white men (how sexist), I guess I should assume you represent all white women....oh shit, you don't even speak for women, never mind white or democratic.....you keep speaking your truth, Joan, but your the one who looked overanxious tonight. I think this SCOTUS pick is stirring up some old bad feelings about how Hillary had her coronation stolen away from her by the rich white boys.
