@Jam

That did help. Thanks for taking the time. I have a teenage daughter, and right or wrong, I am telling her birth control is HER responsibility. I always thought, if I were a woman, and didn't want to get pregnant, why would I rely on someone else to ensure that ?

The Softer Side

This article sounds like the softer side of feminism. When you pull away the bows and ribbons, you find broadsheet, pandagon and shakesville where if your a white male, you better damn well be gay or a sycophant to be accepted. Go through the archives of these sites, and come back and tell me these aren't the basis of the stereotypical man haters. You see it in the articles and letters everyday. I prefer the definition sited previously....feminism is a political special interest group pushing heavy propaganda that has been long discredited. Since this primary has shown their political power is waning, the question is.....what's next ? If you can't work with progressive men, you got know where to go. Think about it.

Only Part of the Story

What happens when you figure in the additional retirement income women get from their husbands/significant others either due to divorce or death ? Shouldn't this income also be figured in ?

@severin

Maybe you should have moved into a smaller house and taken half the retirement. What about social security, did you go after that ?....What was his salary compared to yours ? If it was higher, was it because you were forced to work at a lower paying job ?

Smart and Hot !

Didn't we just get a post on BS on how empowering the hot engineering students from Tufts were ? You know, Geeks gone wild....we're hot and we're smart ! And according to Catherine Price "I think what the Nerd Girls are doing is a good thing overall." This is what I love about BS, so much bs available.

Say What ?

My wife's birth control pills are covered by my insurance plan. Am I that unique ? It's a Blue Cross HMO.

To AKA....glad to see your conversation is getting so filtered that your talking to yourself.

hotness=power

Whether smart or not, a beautiful woman holds extraordinary power over men. Women learn this at a young age and independent of other credentials, recognize the power this gives them. I have yet to meet a beautiful woman that does not use this power to her advantage. It's particularly interesting in the workplace. I have had numerous women who worked for me that seem dumbfounded when batting their eyes at me didn't get them the response they wanted, clearly they were not used to being treated equally.

Policepersons and Firepersons, too

I am relieved at this change. Probably be better if the signs say "No Workers Ahead". That little unimportant story you missed about the 441 city workers that were laid off. Those "persons" that were hit the hardest ?...you guessed it, public works.

Could This Really Happen?

I never thought they could get this far. I still don't believe there are enough nutjobs in this country to push this agenda through. It's not gonna be pretty to see all you left wing radicals looking for help from all the moderate men you've spent all these years hatin' on.

A Privileged White Male.

Headline Concerns

Why do people seem surprised ? This is a propaganda site for a special interest group. Duh !

@spanky

Is there anything you have posted that is backed up by facts, or did you just graduate from a woman's studies program ? I agree with you that very little gets done until men get involved, but it's hardly productive to engage men by insulting them. This is the problem with the entire feminist echo chamber, they alienate men as a group, and then expect support from them. Your brand of feminism (I went back and read some of your previous posts) is being further marginalized by the day, largely by your own doing.

Spanky Revisionism

Sorry spanky your translation of:

"Stop just letting women fight to change the world for the better, get off your whiny asses and let EVERYONE know that men find rape unacceptable. And yeah, that means letting your wife get some sleep when she begs 'not tonight.'"

into:

"hey dudes, would you please tell your sons + brothers how you feel about rape, because I know you think it's wrong."

but nice try.

@drinkwater

I can't speak for all the anti-feminists at this site, but the differences between Salon and Maxim should be obvious. This is a news site with so called liberal credentials. As a liberal, I cannot stand by and watch feminists pretend their radical views are congruent with democratic, liberal or progressive views. I want the feminists here to know their anti-male, anti-family, anti-marriage views are abhorrent to this progressive and a large majority of the rest of this country.

Why Sexism ?

My view is the reason sexism APPEARS to be more acceptable in this column, is that it is more subjective. People generally agree more on an ism like racism, where sexism seems to align more into two camps; what radical feminists think, and what the rest of the world thinks. From a radical feminist's perspective, sexism is much more pervasive and acceptable....to the rest of us, we often don't agree with what is defined as sexist...and therefor can't agree on it's level of pervasiveness.

@AKA

I know I'm on her ignore list, so this is for everyone else's benefit. This statement is such a crock of sh&*

"it is just not the initiation of violence that counts but the actual physical damage done to the spouse/partner".

As if we are going to rewrite criminal law so physical violence is only based on the ability of the victim to take punishment. Just so happens she can't dig up her DV stats either. What a hypocrite. Classic AKA BS.
