Headline: Palin Insults Physicians

Besides the obvious ghost-written quality of this, and the fact that the footnotes refute the points they are trying to make, did anybody notice how insulting this is to healthcare profesionals? Doctors will have a monetary incentive to use the end-of-life-consultation to force people to effectively choose their death! WTF! That should be what the Dems (and Joan, next time you're on Hardball) should point out.

Apparently SP thinks that if you throw a doc $20 he or she will give the "Is your life really worth living?" speech. Didn't doctors take some kind of oath that would prevent this (for the GOP readers, that was rhetorical...yes they did!)?

Most of the doctors I know would be aghast to hear that Mrs. Palin thinks so poorly of their moral character.

Factually challenged, dishonest, and now insulting to our hard-working physicians.

Natty-J's imaginary world of unicorns and leprechauns

"The majority of voters are against ObamaCare. The GOP would LOVE to stand alone on Capital Hill, flogging polls showing America agrees with them. Obama is even dumber than I had come to believe if he throws the GOP is this briar patch."

Actually, it is inaccurate to say that the majority of voters are against Obamacare.

1. Most polls are are showing that around 44% (in the 40s, anyhow) disapprove. This is called a plurality, not a majority. On this, you are simply wrong.

2. Obama has yet to articulate a specific plan, so factually speaking there is no ObamaCare.

3. Of the people who disapprove the majority (yes, a real majority) are against things that are not in the plan. People who disapprove because they think, for example, that healthcare reform will force American taxpayers to buy powdered unicorn horns in order to treat the sexual impotency of illegal-immigrant Leprechauns don't actually disapprove of the plan as it exists. You do understand that, don't you? There are no unicorns. There are no Leprechauns. There are no death panels. There is no government takeover.

So, if the GOP really wants to go 100% in defending America against randy, unicorn-horn-fueled, undocumented Leprechauns, I say "Have fun!" And, good luck picking up your credibility when the bill passes and none of these fears come true.

Natty-J, back to you

"What is with you Obama-lovers? After all this, you still think he doesn't make big mistakes? Wake up - he isn't the political genius you imagined. He also isn't the leader many who voted for him had hoped, which is why his personal approval rating on health and every other matter is at a new low almost every time it is measured.

You should thank your stars the GOP is so incompetent; a REAL opposition would eat Bammy for lunch."

**************

Obama-lover? Umm, hold on! He has made huge mistakes, and I certainly don't think he is a political genius. If you take a look at my screen name, it is premised on the idea that he is not a political genius. C'mon now.

We (you and I) do agree about voter ignorance. But, voter ignorance is nothing new. The thing about ignorant voters (on both sides) is that they tend to forget how ignorant they were once their ignorant hysteria has proven to be misplaced. 2010 is probably going to be bad for the Dems, but part of this is because their own base is not going to turn out. The GOP will be less able to make political hay of the voters' ignorance once a healthcare bill is passed because, as I said, the sky won't fall.

I take issue with the idea that the Dems have not faced real opposition. Yes, the GOP is a mess, but you can't simply ignore the very professional, well-funded, focus group tested, coordinated opposition that Obama has faced from corporate interests. They are, indeed, a REAL opposition. In fact, a thinking GOP would have gummed up the opposite of the corporate masters and the end result would have been that the Dems would have faced different, but roughly equivalent, (and REAL) opposition.

Bottom line: It is healthier for the country to have two reasonable, articulate parties doing battles over ideas armed with conviction and accurate and relevant information. We are a long way from that; the Dems lack conviction and the ability to articulate a clear vision, while the GOP lack ideas and truthfulness.

DNC, Freshmen, and Constituents

It really WILL be interesting to see how the freshmen Democrats vote on this bill...tough choice for them. Will they vote per their constituents...or will they vote per the party line advocated by the DNC?

Luckily, the DNC and Constituents all want the same thing! You see, we had a little thing called an election. And, haven't you seen the polls, over 90% of people want healthcare reform.

Whew, freshmen really dodged a bullet there.

(Nice try though.)

@chiefPayne

Been keeping up with the polls just fine, thank you. Sure, some 40-something percent don't want a plan that currently doesn't exist (i.e. what some have called ObamaCare), but most want reform. That is current info, it is at or over 90%, and it is why little Frankie Luntz keeps telling Republicans to mention that they are pro-reform.

But, to suggest as you did that there is a disconnect between constituents and what the Dems are trying to do is silly. What people are objecting to is stuff that isn't in the plan; what is actually in the plan is stuff that people like.

People like portability, for example. It's in the plan.

People don't like fire-breathing dragons being used as a cost-effective measure of removing warts. And, lo and behold, there are no fire-breathing dragons in the plan.

Constituents want X, Y, and Z. Dems are trying to supply X, Y, and Z. Freshmen Dems will vote accordingly. The GOP will continue to fight imaginary dragons in fairy-tale land.
