The interview continues.......
On Iran
Well, the Iranians, see....the people, over in Iran, they...want freedom. And that's good for us. If....you have to understand that...it's a tough call for me, but.....in other words, Iran is...on the road to freedom and we want to...ahh, get freedom to them. Maybe on a truck or a really big boat. It's...umm, Laura is great gal. She said I could ride my bike today if I do this interview. So..what was I saying?
Thanks Joan, for sticking your neck out there and bringing light to this troubling issue. I am voting for Obama because I like his policies better, but I see the sexism directed at Clinton and cringe. There is no justification for this kind of behavior.
Let's keep the discussion going. If not us, then who? If not now, then when?
The story won't run because it is a twisted deformed creation of the media. Created by the media to destroy a very small part of itself. The media need not worry. Ignore it, and it will die before anyone can raise a fuss or a boycott.
Also, I agree with some other posters comments that Brian Williams is not the target. NBC news or even higher is responsible for putting these generals on TV and asking them "Can we win the war?" everyday. But I understand your point in addressing his blog entry. At least it keeps the story alive, for a bit longer.
I am going to miss George. Reading the news this morning, it was like hearing a dear friend had passed away.
Someone asked,"If they are going to forge a letter, why didn't they just stick some nukes in Iraq?"
Easy. There was no need. Look at the polling data. When asked, a disturbingly high number of Americans believe that we found WMD's in Iraq. All they needed were those spent shells and more than half of Americans bought it.
You can bitch all day that this administration is incompetent, arrogant and evil but it is the American people that make it possible for them to continue.
There is a sucker born every minute.
How this article got past an editor in this condition is beyond me. Salon, keep in mind that there are very few people on the planet that can wade through five pages devoted to Madonna's career, a Brazilian pop star, and an egotist's musings on the presidential campaign. In fact, a brief glance at the comments section shows that there are zero people interested.
Is race the reason why they had no insurance? Are you crazy? You can't get insurance in the ninth ward! Let me explain something to you. New Orleans is a soup bowl. At the very bottom of the bowl is...you guessed it... the ninth ward. No insurance company in the world is going to insure someone living in the ninth ward. Period.
That the people in the ninth ward should have had insurance is perhaps the coldest statement I have ever heard in relation to Katrina. Not just the coldest, but the most detached.
Look, there were so many injustices as a result of Katrina, or highlighted due to Katrina that you could never cover them all.
Also, if you don't want people comparing Gulf coast hurricane response to Florida hurricane response, then don't compare citizens of my city to war torn refugees.
Wal-Mart mom, huh? Just like Bill Kristol said in Sundays editorial of the New York Times.
Maybe Joan said it first, maybe neither of them said it first. Truth is, a stupid idea is an orphan.
While they trivialize over exactly what kind of mom Palin is, soccer or Wal-Mart, I found this interesting little piece of information.
Based on a poll done recently to gauge the average voters "awareness" it was found that 49% of Americans believe that the president has the power to suspend the constitution.
With a public as enlightened as this, it doesn't surprise me that this election will be about style over substance.
"until then the Republicans will get my presidential vote. For the first time ever!"
I just don't believe you. Sure, you may be voting for McCain, but I find it hard to believe you are a democrat. My mother calls herself a democrat, even though she voted for Bush twice. In my book, she is not a democrat, and neither are you.
Whenever I see these posts like this on boards, I am convinced it is just a republican trying to piss off democrats. Not very convincing.
Are you really comparing Todd Palin to Eleanor Roosevelt? Nice try, but Eleanor wasn't employed by oil companies. It is a conflict of interest. He was not elected and he has no business being there.
Next you will be saying Todd is like Hillary? Oh wait, there it is...
"I couldn't imagine a Democrat (such as Bill Clinton) letting his spouse hang aroung the office, having her involved in "state business" and exerting "unusual influence on her husband's (state and then federal) government." How shocking of Palin; what a tremendous scandal Mike Madden and Salon have uncovered here!
-- Fladad "
So, you are saying that it was alright for Bill Clinton to have Hillary working in the west wing? That's unusual. Most conservatives screamed bloody murder because he allowed her so close to the oval office. Several democrats felt the same.
This smacks of something...what's the word.....ahh, now I remember.....mendacity.
