We don't care what sex the VP is, and obviously, if you noticed how close the Democratic primary was, it doesn't matter what sex the President is. We are not a genitocentric group. The issue here is competence and policy. We have the oldest man ever running for president and he selects a woman with absolutely no experience (beyond heading up Arbor Day), who is anti-choice, pro-big oil, anti-polar bear, anti-health care reform, anti-education reform, a Creationist who is anti-science. She has said in more than a couple of interviews that she doesn't think about Iraq. I think all these issues outweigh whatever she has in her jeans, which she wears when she goes hunting with her NRA Lifetime membership. It ain't because she's a woman. There's a lot not to like here. And to all you PUMAs out there, if you are willing to sell out your ideals and your country (and your candidate) just because of bruised egos, you are nothing but narcissists who are having a tantrum because you didn't get your way, which, BTW, if Obama loses, will come back to haunt not only you, but Hillary as well. But of course, that's mysogenistic. Stop acting like little children and live with the political reality. We're in real trouble in this country and abetting Bush, excuse me, McCain's election, regardless of who he picks for VEEP, is going to be a disaster for everyone.
The GOP is scaling back their convention out of concern of Hurricane Gustav. McCain is planning on making his acceptance speech via satellite because he's SO concerned about the events in the Gulf and wants to be there (and he can do what? I mean, beyond taking needed force away from what is needed for helping the cities in a time of crisis to handle his personal security), and Bush and Cheney are gonna be no-shows because they're SO concerned with the hurricane (also being in the Gulf region, further detracting needed municipal forces from what they should be doing to handle their personal security). If McCain can make a satellite acceptance speech, why can't Bush and Cheney make satellite speeches? Why can't they attend their own party's convention and still monitor events? Ever heard of laptops or cell phones? It is very clear they are using this natural disaster (which, apparently is not so bad as feared) for political cover. McCain doesn't want Bushco at the convention; after hugging the guy, after voting with him 95% of the time, now he wants distance, and what a better excuse than another hurricane hitting New Orleans. NOW they want to show how effective they can be. Once again, the GOP is showing how they put politics over regular peoples' lives. This is beyond disgusting.
Suze26: I doubt he's in command of those either; you over-made up trollop, you c*nt (as the candidate said to his wife in front of the press).
Let me see if I got this right: Questioning Sarah Palin about her qualifications for VP is sexist and thus, irrelevent; asking questions about her foreign policy bone fides is sexist and thus, irrelevent; asking questions about her ethics probes is sexist and thus, irrelevent. But somehow, picking a woman with no national experience to be a 'heartbeat away' from the oldest person ever to be possibly elected isn't somehow pandering; voting against equal pay for women isn't sexist; wanting to deny women the right to control their bodies (even when you allowed your own daughter to make that choice) isn't sexist (or hypocritical); wanting to outlaw all forms of birth control isn't sexist. And calling yourselves 'Reformers' because you hold these views, which are the same as Bushco, is going to bring about 'change in Washington?' Even Fred 'Foghorn Leghorn' Thompson said we must stop the corruption of the last 8 years. Gee, who was in control of the White House those last 8 years? And now they expect us to vote for the same guys again? In the words of Sarah Palin: 'Thanks, but no thanks.'
So let me guess... the GOP is now going to jump all over Charlie Gibson for having the audacity and sexism to ask such questions of 'A WOMAN!'
Here's a rule: Don't espouse antisemtic politics during sex. I had a date with a 'woman' in LA once. We met through mutual friends (no longer friends). We ended up back at her apartment and in the middle of sex, she starts talking about how glad she was I wasn't a Jew (but I am). She actually said 'Hitler had it right.' Even as disgusting as that was, why, oh why, would someone even bring something like that up at that moment? Is getting screwed by a Nazi her fantasy? Let's just say the moment lost it's magic.
WINNERS: JON STEWART?!?! Remember him? And you leave him off after his moving retirement of his Bush impression last night?
Did anyone else catch this yesterday? I was doing some work at home and had MSNBC on in the background. Andrea Mitchell was interviewing Chris Shays, the Republican from Connecticut who just lost his seat. She asked him what he thought was the cause of the GOP's poor showing Tuesday, and he began his answer with 'Well, when you're running against an articulate Black man...'
WHAT IS THAT? How could Mitchell let that obviously racist line go unchallenged? Well, she did. However, a few minutes later, when she cuts to a commercial she says... and I had to rewind this 3 times to make sure I heard it right... 'We'll be Black.' Check the video.
