Original article: The novelist in wartime

There is only one solution

And it is the final one. You know what I mean. Stop being afraid of the Jews, and drop the hammer.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 06:19 AM

If we freed the people who are there

And replaced them with the real enemy, Jews no one would get upset. And it would be the right thing to do.

The Oscars will suck

They always do they always will.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 02:40 PM

At least it's not another 'Holocaust' mythology

Those are getting unwatchable.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 02:42 PM

It's Israel's fault

So fuck them with a burning stick.

Sunday, February 22, 2009 05:58 AM

Oscars have a theme

One year it's the "We've got to give the top awards to black people" year, other years it's the "Obscure foreign films with semi famous artsy American actresses year and so on. I suspect this year is going to be Black History month times a million.

They make TV for you

If you're an idiot then the shoe fits.

Would you want an open source heart monitor?

Would you like an open source airliner fly by wire system? How about an open source CAT scanner sold by the lowest bidder?

See at its heart, phones just have to work. The leeters and hacker wannabes can cheer all they like that their open source gadget combines a flashlight, dog whistle and bomb sniffer but in the end it's a phone. Back in the bad old days AT&T SS7 network surpassed 6 Sigma reliability and uptime. That's about 7 minutes downtime a year. Do you get that now? Of course not, you have 'openness'. Now you have crappy handsets that are sold with bad firmware that locks up the device. You get poor service, crashing apps, unreliable behavior and having to juke with 'customer support' in India.

How's that working for you?

Sunday, February 22, 2009 02:05 PM

I'm sorry but you did not get the memo

Black movies are automatically gold now.

Sunday, February 22, 2009 04:07 PM

So a cheap unreliable piece of junk is good enough?

Ok for you. But your flavor of crap isn't cheap enough for me. A phone that occasionally works should be free or near free.

If it was about vampire lesbian housewives who grow weed

You'd wet the sofa in delight.

Except that PalmOS still isn't multitasking after 11 years

Which is why they're abandoning it for the PreOS.

Monday, February 23, 2009 05:51 AM

Well there you have it

Indians are Hollywood's new black people.

Monday, February 23, 2009 05:55 AM

That's why you need slave armies

Don't pay them at all.

Original article: Whalin' Palin

I am half wolf half whale

Please don't eat me.

Citi is at least 25% owned by the House of Saud

So if you're going to nationalize it fine, but it's going to be nationalized to the Royal Saudi government, not the US.

Monday, February 23, 2009 06:28 PM

Well that makes sense

Indian is the new black (people).

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 07:30 AM

Bollywood is the new Black Cinema

Spike Lee's head just exploded.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 07:31 AM

Blame Israel

St. Glenn of Greenwald does.

Graduate school, for WHAT?

Since this is Salon I'm sure it's an MFA or a PhD in performance art or extinct animal husbandry or plain old 'women's studies'. So the question you really have to ask yourself is "Are there any jobs IN academia for this and if so how hard are they?" Moreover in the fine tradition of Salon, the second question you have to ask yourself is, what's the upside probability of being able to meet an alcoholic mentally ill sexually dysfunctional mate in those fields?

Brightstar-2

If it was NPR then the subtext must have been the changing roles of black women in a recession and their resentment at having to turn back to 'traditional' roles.

Remember; at NPR every day is Black History Month. Send your checks and get a Nina Totenbag.

Bailout is just another way

For upper middle class liberals to tell the middle class to give more to the working class and poor.

I never eat out. I haven't gone on a vacation in decades. My newest car is a 4 year old compact Ford. All my kids go to state U. My mortgage is fixed rate 5% 25 year with 10 years remaining and the mortgage about is one third of the market value of the house. I own a second home (condo) that I paid cash for and it generates income and tax advantages.

Do I see a problem with bailing out homeowners on my tab? Damn straight I do.

I wonder what else you would forgive people for spending in complete disregard for sanity? An RV? A boobjob? A Picasso?

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 07:54 AM

At least with angry Muslims we know where the red lines are

E.G.; everywhere. Insult the prophet and a building burns. In the US though, with race it's much blurrier. We're not sure what we can say or who can say it. I watched a Katt Williams stand up routine, I think "nigger" makes up about 10% of the man's entire known vocabulary. But it's ok because he is one. You can cartoon Bush as a chimp but not Obama. The safest course of action in America now is for all non-blacks to simply pretend race does not exist and to never address it in any way or comment on it or have an opinion about it at all.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 07:58 AM

And yet the horrible service record of other free/cheap services is entirely acceptable

When I point out that VoIP and Cell Phones are orders of magnitude less reliable than good old bad AT&T SS7 POTS I am scolded that the new services are cheaper and offer a choice (A choice of other equally poor reliability services).

But when free Gmail conks out, we're supposed to 'adapt'?

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 08:04 AM

You are certainly free to veer off into meaningless tangents

But I wasn't planning on doing that. The fact, the actual and simple fact is that the middle class in America is not an infinitely large ATM to be tapped whenever someone needs cash. I'm sorry if you find this Obama voter's opinion on that subject 'right wing' and reactionary. At this point, it really doesn't matter why we're broke, any more, apparently than it matters to you why those homeowners are broke. The fact, the simple fact is that we are broke. Piling another debt on the middle class, with more and more in the wings waiting, such as healthcare reform, SSI, the AMT and on and on is simply going to be, at some point the straw that breaks the camel. What will happen then? Hyperinflation? Good luck with that.

200 points is not a rally.

Sorry but 200 points in either direction is nothing. Didn't anyone there study math?

Original article: Bowing down to the Taliban

Are all of you smoking crack today

What on Allah's Green Earth does this have to do with the motherfucking evil Kike Jew menace?

Nothing. That's goddamn right. Now go back to work and do it again. Glenn has motherfucking spoken.

Original article: The case against thrift

Just pay for my stuff and I'll save some cash

Thanks. And remember, it's only money.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 06:25 AM

Just build more roads? That's it?

That's all I've heard so far is we're gonna build a zillion miles of roads and bridges. That will fix everything and put 10 million illegal Mexicans to work.

Outstanding.
