I agree that the Palin family's current teen pregnancy should not be fodder for the press or campaign taglines. I hope, however, that we can still discuss the obvious lesson inherent in Bristol Palin's pregnancy. "Abstinence only" doesn't work. If it doesn't work in a strong supportive family like the Palins, how can we require that it work anywhere without providing our teens with appropriate reproductive health education and alternatives, like birth control. I'm sure the Palins taught their daughter to wait until marriage - so much for teens following parental advice that goes against their natural urges. Let's arm our teens with information and provide easy access to birth control. I don't think most of us want our daughters to "have to get married" at 17 and begin raising unplanned families. This is the 21st century. Let's use technology in support of intelligent life choices.
It's okay to like Sarah, now that she's no longer a threat, but I watched her various interviews and am stunned that you could still think she's smart. While I understand that we all have those "deer in the headlights" moments, SP seems to hang out in the land of the lost unless babbling about enjoying being with True Americans, gosh darn it! I'm happy for her to return to the frozen tundra she seems to prefer and leave the rest of us alone.
Having already put up with too many administrations that highlight and promote stupidity and mediocrity, I look forward to having an administration that speaks the American version of the Queen's English, can string together several sentences without stumbling, and can distinguish between Executive and Legislative activities. I'm also thrilled that this administration honors women (their mates, children, and others), and can use modern technology to reach the people and connect with them.
Only time will tell if Barack and Joe will walk the walk, but I'm relieved that John and Sarah are now out of the picture. I do think Sarah Palin would be perfect to host a sports radio show. No wardrobe or lipstick to worry about, and correct grammar isn't required.
Not a slanderous statement, by the way, it's modern lingo for acting like a blithering idiot. Obama won. Get over it. I'm moving on to read thoughtful well written offerings.
You are a delightful critic and I enjoy every word. Keep is up, please.
