First, Harry the Idiot, he didn't call you a name. He pointed out your hypocrisy. Then you turn around and call him a name right back. What an idiot!
Back when I was teenager the local courts would sometimes *sentence* petty violent crimals to the marines. What a bunch of anti-social dumbshits.
-- Doctor Gnu
This is an urban legend. The military wouldn't take someone with a conviction for a violent offense.
And what, precisely, is a"petty violent criminal"? Sounds like you're just blowing smoke out your ass.
But, no, Cheney did not call Reid a name or a traitor. More significantly, Reid didn't address the key issue: his hypocrisy.
Direct quote from Harry Reid: "I'm not going to get into a name calling match with the administration's chief attack dog."
So he won't get into a name-calling match and then calls Cheney a name.
Sorry, losers, but that's hypocrisy. But Reid has always been clueless about his own stupidity, e.g., attacking Republicans for political sleaze while himself having done favors for Abramoff for political favors in return.
And, by the way, showing Reid for the idiot liar that he is is not the same as defending Cheney, but I realize most Salon readers are simpletons who can't balance such subtlties in their puny minds.
These guys are cowards who abandoned their colleagues to fight short-handed.
Funny how Salonistas constantly rag on GWB for "dodging" the Vietnam War (though he served in uniform and flew fighter jets) even though the same things were said about Vietnam as are being said about Iraq, but somehow think these cowards who have skipped out and left their friends to hold the bag are heroes.
I have nothing but contempt for them.
if Canada continues to blindly obey the policies of the United States, I plan to give up my citizenship and take residence elsewhere.
Here's a suggestion: there's a nice country called Iraq that needs such brave, conscientious, oh-so-moral people such as yourself.
I'll help you pack your bags.
Glenn, the day I see you do an "expose" on George Stephanapoulos at ABC and other political operatives now in highly placed media positions is the day I give you the slightest shred of credibility. As is, you're just a political hack yourself digging up 'scandal' where it doesn't exist.
And please respond to this. You respond to other posts, so I know you read them.
The letters are more informative and inciteful ...
I'm guessing you meant to say "insightful," but you're probably more correct than you realize.
The bright guys who used to be plumbers because they couldn't afford college are now doctors or lawyers. These professions do have strong unions to protect their interests, which explains why fewer and fewer working people can afford their services, and why socialized medicine is almost an inevitability.
By "these professions," I assume you mean the aforementioned doctors and lawyers. Really, they have unions!? What, precisely, is the name of the lawyers' union? The doctors'?
Your point about the trades, etc., is on target, but you're blowing serious BS with the above statement. And don't cry for the plumbers, electricians, etc. They're making good money, trust me. It's the framing carpenters, landscapers, janitors, etc., who need help.
Because a 4-year degree often leaves people knowing less than a high school grad knew 30 years ago. I can't believe the astounding stupidity and ignorance (in the literal meaning of that word) of college grads I encounter today.
It'd be sad if it wasn't so scary.
There's no question the Planned Parenthood worker was going against official protocol.
Protocol!? Ha, nothing like dodging the essential point that this worker broke the law!
Salon was all over it when people conducted undercover operations on crisis pregnancy centers. They were heroes! Never mind that none of these centers actually broke the law.
Now, however, when the tables are turned, it's dastardly, anti-woman! This is but the tip of the iceberg. Abortion clinics have been breaking the law for years with regard to statutory rape, and now they're getting caught at it.
Guess that money-spigot might get turned off now. (No, I don't buy the bullshit that most abortionists are in it for the sake of women. It's good, easy money, and that's all.)
Clever, but wrong. Note the number of attempts to pass "hate crimes" laws that would silence Christians. (They're already in effect in Canada and Sweden.)
Note the number of times Christian organizations have been denied the right to organize on state university campuses or told that they must accept leaders (not just members) who do not adhere to their core beliefs. Note the number of college students bullied by professors or kids in public schools bullied by teachers for wanting to simply express their beliefs in public, a right guaranteed by the Consitution and upheld by the Supreme Court. (Visit the F.I.R.E. web site for the many examples.) All these are initiatives pushed by radical secular liberals.
Now, how many Evangelicals go around beating up gays or drag bodies behind trucks? None, I'd venture, and those are crimes already anyway.
Finally, there's no "right" to marriage. It's a privilege, one the state can regulate. I can't marry my sister or my mom, nor can I marry a dog or donkey. If the state says so, two men can't "marry" each other, either.
