Original article: "We're all fascists now"

The right and sex

I love that section. Because some liberal group put out info on which condoms are more environmentally safe, the left as a whole is indicted for its proscriptions about sexual behavior.

But the right wing? You never see them comment on sexuality. No, they have nothing to say about what is right or wrong about any variation of human sexuality. I guess the reason is because they think all of it is shameful and dirty. The right wing is fine with gay sex, for example, as long as you do it in a bathroom.

The author is reasonably articulate and clean for a white person who got where he is through family connections, but he is so myopic it's almost painful to read.

dot ca

It's a Canadian site. Canadians in general don't have the same hang ups about their bodies as do American Liberal Females.

Remember Alanis Morrisette at the CMAs when she came out in that nude suit?

To someone like TC-F, any show of flesh has to be exhaustively justified or it is immediately suspect.

Original article: CNN's John King responds

The laughable professor smith

How you got to teach a course on anything is unbelievable.

So, you can't criticize a talentless shill like King without going to Journalism school first? Moronic. Why don't you ask one of your colleagues to explain to you why this is wrong?

King is not a journalist or a reporter. He is a foppish reader of teleprompters.

Mighty Mouse Cocaine Link

Next time check your links. The one in your story points to some odd website that requires registration for a free trial.

You can find a 1988 NY Times article about it if you do a little research. Maybe next time, post that?

Original article: Why I hate partner yoga

Why I hate boring, egocentric articles

I don't care about your yoga experiences, be they solo or partnered.

I don't care that you have hang ups about other human beings or that you feel you must somehow justify your personality problems by assailing the practice of yoga in America.

You are the problem here.

Are you so mentally unbalanced that you can't even stand touching another human being except in an erotic context? I think you'll find that we Americans are very privileged in terms of the space we afford one another. You won't find that in many other places.

The worst part is that if you knew anything about the spiritual practices you're going on and on about, you would realize that your partner and you are both manifestations of that divine essence, and maybe you would get over yourself.

10% Really?

1 out of every 10 Latinas kills themselves?

Really?

Does anyone do any fact checking anymore?

Dick? Cheney?

So if you call someone a dick, do people crawl out of the woodwork labeling you a misandrist?

Maybe these people just don't like her?

Do women want special protection from verbal insult because they're the weaker sex?

I didn't hear any uproar when people called our VP dick, which he most certainly is.

Joanie waits; Joanie sees.

This means she is going to try and hide her pro Clinton agenda as long as she must.

Original article: Quote of the day

Surprise, Surprise

When you don't represent people, they don't vote for you to be their representative. At least, that was how I felt about the Democratic voters in CT.

As for the artless sarcasm of the person advising you to cross the aisle, I have this to say:

I agree 100%.

I am sick of Reid's leadership. He has done nothing for us, and it's time for him to go.

I feel like he embodies the problems with most Democrats today: they're getting better at getting elected, but once in power don't have any agenda except staying elected.

They're gutless cowards and do not deserve to lead the House or Senate.

My only reservation is that the Dems make such a lousy, mewling opposition too.

The sooner Joe Lieberman leaves, the sooner we can all enjoy caring even less about what that horrible man has to say.

Original article: How looks can kill

Biology

"Unlike mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, where biology clearly plays a major role, it's hard to see how excessive concern with the shape of one's nose or lips arises from brain mechanisms gone askew."

It is? I thought that my thoughts were produced in my brain, which is an organ in my body. Isn't concern a thought? How can a hallucination be clearly linked to biological mechanisms and other mental formations not be?

I guess there is a small homonoculus inside my head doing all the thinking for me.

And inside of his head? You got it.

Hockey

Why write about Soccer when you've made a point of not covering Hockey?

Also, all that crap about sportsmanship and fair play is just to keep dumb people buying tickets and beer and watching the tube.

Original article: Sex after 50? Mais oui!

Part of the solution or part of the problem?

Famous actresses, whether French or American, can't really tell us much about a behavioral trend that spans an entire population, can they? I would consider them outliers.

Maybe if people like you who write articles would shut the hell up about famous people, you wouldn't feel compelled to complain about their influence out of the other side of your mouth.

Just a thought.

But we never hear about it at salon.

Nice job phoning it in.

Laura Miller > Other Millers (Except Ryan Miller, who is a great goalie)

I love your writing and criticism. Here at Salon afloat in a sea of egocentric navel-gazing, it shines all the brighter.

You don't tell us what you were wearing or shopping for while you read the book.

You don't tell us why the book made you feel some way because of some past incident in your own affluent, yet emotionally overwrought past.

You don't go into a sidebar about diapers.

You just examine the arguments the author makes on their merits. Every column of yours I read leaves me thinking about the subject.

I found your observation about Al Gore and powerpoint as they relate to the author's claims particularly incisive.
