"great game" paranoia run amok

the US has sought to sprinkle bases all over the world but even neoconservative wack jobs don't believe the US has the ability to impose govts on the entire world against the wishes of their populations and fight wars with China and Russia. In Iraq they thought they could remove the top leadership and that would solve the problem. In Afghanistan they thought the Northern Alliance could form the core of a govt. Any moves to remove Irans govt would be predicated on the idea that the Iranian people want the regime gone ("surgical" strikes to take out their nuclear program might be another matter). I'm not suggesting any of these ideas are or were good but NOBODY thinks they can reestablish the British Empire. They aren't speaking literally when they talk about it.

Male celebrities simply don't have the same motivation to bare all -- and I refuse to believe it's for actual lack of interest on women's part.

Why not? How often do you hear about men who don't want to see an attractive woman naked. How often do you hear hear about a woman who says that some man is attractive or interesting but she wouldn't want to see him with his clothes off. For men this is a logical impossibility. Some of this may be that woman are more likely to be attracted to a beautiful mind in an ugly body than men but it is interesting that the ideology of androgyny is apparently being defended sitting right in the middle of a vivid disproof of its validity.

Most of the small number of women who actually like porn are busy watching gay porn.

This isn't always true. There are some women who really like seeing explicit sex involving men but really DON'T like watching men with other men. It doesn't seem to be a well served market, but maybe that is because it isn't that large. Although it seems larger than the number of women who like "couples friendly" porn i.e. lots of girl on girl. Most of the women (there have been a few, really) that I've talked to about this really don't get girl on girl appealing to women. Apparently though they are in the minority unless there is market failure of some sort. (Unless most women watch/like porn with/for men and they like girl on girl because men do).

Another theory about why women don't much like porn. Unlike men they aren't desperate enough to ignore the fact that the performers emotions are not convincing. If attractive people who could be convincing made the porn would women like it more. It seems to me that there has been some progress in this direction in recent years. Do more women like porn than they used to?

Besides interest is not the issue, willingness to pay is

From a producers point of view it doesn't matter how much interest women have if it doesn't rise to the level where they are willing to fork over money.

Men in porn do get off but they, and the women doing them, have to work WAYYYY to much

I don't know any woman who wouldn't be totally offended if she had to work as hard to get the guy hard and keep him that way and get him off as the women in porn do.

I disagree that killing him would be bad

True it would make him a martyr but it would also make him a LOOOOOOSER.

men and women are different so they treat themselves and each other differently

feminism is, at least in the minds of many, an ideological and analytical RESPONSE to this fact which describes the situation in terms that many find false or at least incomplete.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 11:27 AM

what ever problems men have with "feminism and feminists" lets ALL admit that the problem we have with them is what they think about men

not what they think about mothers. It just makes you look stupid to claim otherwise.

because women have a lot of substantial shortcomings in comparison to men"

funny that women don't have any trouble expecting men to take them seriously when they say the same thing about men. As far as feminists and other women "liking men", sure they like them in their place doing what they are supposed to be doing. You couldn't find any man who doesn't like women by that standard. If the concept of equality were being taken seriously then both genders would get to complain about this or neither would.

Gentlemen, it seems to me that you're furious that women aren't dependent on you, that many have excelled you, and your chances of getting looked at twice diminish as women who choose to grow progress in all ways.

This is indeed the problem and I'm glad to see you admit that most women don't have any use for most men. A woman on the other hand who is willing to have sex and weigh less than 300 lbs is of interest to men. So can we please dispense with the bullshit that women like men.

Thanks so much for the offer Smutlov but I'd rather gnaw off my own arm. Carry on with your one-handed rationalizing.

Yes, Yes we can all see that women like men JUST as much as men like women.

I don't know how you drew that implication from what I wrote, and I don't know why, unless you're one of the Archetypal Angry White Men.

Seriously, you really don't see it? I'd be genuinely curious to know how many, if any, women can see what is obvious to men, although it is true that quite a few men choose not to see it or at least don't focus on it because doing so doesn't help anything and attempting to discuss it usually makes their position worse.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 02:15 PM

the helpful hints that are given to women are things that will get them into a better competitive postition but the "helpful hints" that you and others are giving men

are minimum standards that have to be met before men can exist socially as sexual beings at all. The real issue of course is that men and women are different and what we SHOULD be discussing is how to make the best of the situation, however what actually ends up being discussed is how the emotional and sexual instincts of women are used as the basis for a total world view. Actually, for the reasons I mentioned, this usually isn't discussed either.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 10:18 PM

when it comes to sex it is women not men who do the back turning

so unless there is a specific situation where this is known NOT to be the case there isn't much point in the rest of it, hence the response you describe (although given all the complaining women do about too MUCH male interest apparently the response you describe is not universal).

Are you saying that what you are interested is sexual gratification and women's availability in and of itself is valuable to you?

I'm not talking about sexual gratification only I am talking about sexual relationships. For men especially some sort of sexual chemistry is ususally required for real emotional connection. For women the situation may be somewhat different due to the fact that, for women, same sex help is directly essential, or at least VERY VERY helpful, to reproductive success in a way that it is not to men and women have biologically based behavioral and emotional adaptions to this fact.
