If only hypocrisy was one of the seven deadly sins, they could finally eradicate themselves.

Actually if they eradicated gayness they would probably eradicate themselves, at least if their public spokesmodels are any indication. Kind of puts their "it's all a choice" argument into context doesn't it.

this is a HUGE problem, if everyone is genetically programmed to be a socially well adjusted go along to get along extrovert

(which is what will/would happen if parents want the best for their children individually) won't there be something missing.

Friday, June 20, 2008 12:45 PM

no but they want someone who can do something more for them than they can do for themsleves (in addition to being fucked with a dick)

(at least to have a relationship with someone they are willing to make real compromises with rather than treat as a servant) and, especially in today's high-status-for-women society, for a man to meet that qualification he has to be dominant and accomplished to the point of what often looks like the verge of pathology.

Homosexuality is a genetic dead end. If we care about that, then yes, it is a problem.

Given modern medicine homosexuality isn't a genetic dead end and even without exotic technology if you look at any fundie community, the men OR the women, it's obvious that they have their own ways of seeing to it that gay people do plenty of reproducing. Actually I think some of them have semi openly discussed this, Santorum said something in reference to this I think.

how sexy will it be for the person who has to wipe her ass when

the mountain of blubber than the human skeleton was not designed to support causes it to collapse.

By the way, Mr. Dick Dworkin- was it really necessary to paint such an unpleasant picture? What would you care, anyway

Because it is the truth and because I have had to deal with the consequences of other peoples uncontrolled addiction to food which was aided and abetted by the fat acceptance movement. Obesisty is a personal disaster for those who have it and those who get stuck taking care of them. Obese people often end up needing long term care that people who stay fit and healthy usually don't require until relatively shortly before they die, unless they have alzheimers.

and if all you fatties think losing weight is hard now

try doing it when you are bedridden. Really, anybody who is carrying 30 40 50 or more pounds of extra fat around should do something about it NOW before it is too late. It's not easy, but it can be done and it won't ever get any easier than than it will be now.

it doesn't look like the ratio of hits to misses of the window so far

is grounds for celebration, although slow or no population growth is still better than rapid growth.

Friday, June 20, 2008 08:47 PM

it would be possible with modern technology for an economy to function with few young people and lots of old people BUT NOT

if the majority of the population refuses to make an effort to get and stay healthy, i.e. fit and thin, and unfortunately this is currently the situation.

gastric bypass is better than the alternative but it has huge problems and is NOT EASY.

thinking that you can think of obesity and food addiction as the equivalent of an appendix, that you can ignore it until you have a problem and then surgery will fix everything is a serious misunderstanding.

re low throid: NO ONE can manufacture fat out of air

EVERYONE can lose weight and keep it off. They may have to fight their system and they may have to eat a lot less and more restrictively than their friends and they may have to plan carefully to get adequate nutrition but EVERYONES BODY can be made a healthy weight IF someone wants it BAD ENOUGH.

I love the fact that young women are as open and expressive as young men

That would be fine if they were equally expressive, but what is going to happen is that all male sexual expression will be "criminalized" and female expression will not be. Even this would be ok if it meant that average/ugly men would get as much attention from "expressive" women as these women now get from men (attention which they can STILL never stop complaining about) but this won't happen either: women will be as picky as they have ever been, if not more so, and men will have to prove themselves to women as they always have, they will just have to do it with fewer social and economic advantages than in the past and under the constraints of a set of rules regarding sexual expression which are pointedly applied only to them.

actually this is already the case but the new order is currently uneven in its application

which PERFECTLY explains the observed difference between working class and corporate behavior.

nothing else matters in the end but this: if obama's candidacy comes accross as being about black greivances against whites he cannot win

it would take a lot of work by the right to make it happen but they certainly have the money and if there is a real opening they will take it. Sure there is a racial problem, past and present, but most white people simply will not put someone who looks like they want to screw them because they are white in a position to do so, no matter how "deserved" some might think it would be.

I don't know what it's goign to take for men to be comfortable with powerful women, though. I really don't.

Well lucky for you I have the answer for you: when women start being as attracted to powerless men as men are to powerless women then men will be comfortable with powerful women.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 05:41 PM

you think using obamas candidacy as an opportunity to "force" america to "confront the reality of racism" is a good campaign strategy?

Really, that is your brilliant plan to get the Republicans out of power?

Original article: Men: Score! Women: Whoops!

the reason things are always analyzed from a female point of view is that only the female point of view counts

and men will just have to adapt OR they can become like women or the women will become like men, then everyone will be the same and everyone will be happy (which is what would naturally happen if not for the evil patriarchy).

Original article: Is Ralph Nader losing it?

It seems too obvious to have to state but apparently isn't: the problem with the death penalty for ANY crime that isn't murder is that it removes the only possibly effective limit in principle for it's use for almost anything

(yes I know it exists in principle for treason, etc but those crimes have a long established "collective/wartime" rationale which serves as a limit on their use). When you are talking crimes against individuals not involving death everything is a matter of degree.

Original article: Men: Score! Women: Whoops!

most relationships start as one night stands then progress to further nights, the reverse is obviously not true

most men are NOT interested in a long term relationship with a woman who isn't attracted enough to them to want to sleep with them before getting something for it. You just have to pick the right people to have " one night stands" with.

we need a steady state, or better than a "steady state", economy in terms of pollution created, trees cut down, oil sucked out of the ground etc

but we do NOT need and should NEVER have a "steady state" economy in regard to the ability of human beings to generally increase the supply of useful/desireable things. The sometime failure of the advocates of sustainability to be clear on this distinction is a tremendous cultural and political gift to the Bushes and Chenys of the world.

Friday, June 27, 2008 06:53 PM

suppose for the sake of argument that it is true that it is necessary to support this in order to immunize obama against the soft on terrorism charge

should he stand on principle anyway if it means getting Mccain elected. Isn't it more likely that obama respects civil liberties than that bush or mccain does.

Friday, June 27, 2008 09:51 PM

men don't have man crushes like women have girl crushes because they don't depend on other men to help them raise their kids

so the same instinctive interest and equipment to invest in same sex bonding isn't there. There is interest and bonding but it isn't of the same nature.
