The taxpayers of NYC also owned all the artifacts and memoribilia from the old Yankee Stadium. Mayor Bloomberg sold it all to the Yankees for $11 Million, the Yankees expect to turn over 100X that amount, selling seats, signs, probably even toilets,so they can pay their multimillionaire entertainers even more $$$.What amazes me is that many people from all classes fall for the disingenuous argument from the right, that raising their taxes are used primarily to pay welfare for the have nots(Joe the Plumber).Actually the haves have gamed the system so well, that corporate welfare for private stadiums,to no-bid contracts on defense stocks,Megabank bailouts creating shareholder thefts with FDIC complicity,on smaller institutions(like JP Morgan's now known rape of Washington Mutual's untoxic assets)to George Bush's taxpayer rape to enrich himself,by lobbying for his no-risk deal,to deliver the Texas Rangers their welfare stadium deal, and his last great $trillion bailout scam ,that he conspired with Paulson,to further enrich themselves, and help construct JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs stated goals since the 1929 Great Depression, which is to monopolize the whole World Banking system. The real welfare has always gone to the richest amongst us,designed to eliminate their risk, and reward their failures, but never like today(i.e.AIG BONUSES).You were warned this was getting out-of-hand,by no other than Ralph Nader, whom despite his ideoligical merits, let his political ambitions help destroy the greater good(by helping to usher in the most crooked, dishonest and wasteful Adminstration and Congress in 2001)And as we see, this model exists now more pervasively at all levels in government, and is accepted by many of our citizens,as the new status quo.Meanwhile ,an ever shrinking middle class comprise the losing bagholders for the powerplay elite deregulators, watching their jobs and paychecks and rights to organize dissolve, sucking even more wind out of them, while those that create the economic conditions can assume that their losses will be covered, and their profit margins guaranteed,as they squeeze more and more from the little guy(or as Mccain and now Obama refer to as the fundamentals of our economy)This was the climate that Barack Obama walked into, and while I believe in the character of the new President, his first responsibility was to make sure that our system doesn't collapse, which meant he had to rely on, and negotiate with those that brought about this inevitable, unenviable situation.I believe that his goal is to bring us out of this toxic climate once and for all.Tax breaks(Federal and local)for foreign competition on our shores must be stopped!(Honda,Toyota in Alabama, for example). We are giving away much needed revenues in assuming these risks for the Corporate Welfare Queens, and forcing States to compete with other States,to do their biddings, in a race to the bottom of the revenue piles. You can only hold up a House of cards for so long,as you should know well the outcome. We are teetering on that edge NOW.
I was looking and blogging on the Ford Yahoo Finance Message Board and you have all kind of right-wing loonies, using every type of epiphat of racial hatred, every crazy threat known on Obama, this one guy calls himself jewhader 112, and threatens terrorist fantasy remarks against the United States, and even says he will be the catalyst. And that's the mildest this guy gets. There are others who blog, that aren't as extreme. They just snicker making racial overtones, and don't debate issues with the smarter blogger.I'm Jewish-before the extremist I mentioned ,was known to me, I blogged that Jewish people are not going to take hatred, and they saw the indifference McCain treated Obama with, at the first debate. It seemed to spur the most extreme elements on the fringe ,and is was a devisive tactic on McCain's part. McCain couldn't look at Obama,as if not to respect him,as a person. And of course now we reach the Hannityzed part of the McCain campaign, with sleeze at a premium.Nope. Lieberman isn't enough for the Jewish vote in Florida or anywhere. We don't like racism-period.We were half the non-blacks who marched with Martin Luther King.It ain;t culture when it's hatred, not my culture.
