Guess I Was Being Too Nice

El Cid... a minor change

...but how right wingers love the country like 4 year olds love Mommy Dearest.

-- Karen M

True, I probably shouldn't have let Al Franken's kindly spin stand.

Right wingers don't love Mommy; the cruel authoritarian beast they worship shouldn't be like anyone's conception of Mommy, but could help explain the continual eruptions of repressed right wing perversions in the news.

The point is that their allegiance to some beastly organism is unquestioned, as long as the beast is acting in the cruel and beastly manner they prefer.

If the U.S.' leaders want to go torture or bomb a bunch of brown people, the righties are all there, at least, the cowards are there in spirit, fully willing to watch 24.

But if the U.S.' leaders suggest they want to allow us to democratically offer ourselves a sane, non-profit health system, well, then they reject it, and suddenly the righties don't love the beast, because the beast appears to have revealed a kind and nurturing side (even though we realize it's just politicians acting in rational self-interest), instead of the painful and beastly organism they know and love.
