I admit that part of my evaluation of Bush Jr's failure to even slightly consider looking into any aspect of US domestic security against foreign attack in his first 8 months in office is conditioned on having watched the entire right wing of the nation pretend that after having failed to prevent 9/11/2001, this somehow proved that Republicans were talented in the national security arena and Democrats (and anyone farther left) were terrorist-loving security failures.
Now given that all right wingers lie every single day and every single campaign in asserting that the moronic, nation-harming, failure-ridden Republican party is somehow 'better' on the security issue, I can see how yet another mindless right winger would suspect that everyone else would lie about security issues as much as they.
But my psychology and whether or not I'd forgive Bush Jr. for having had one, single, solitary animate response, some flicker of concern, some sort of tremble, a tic in his eyelid, in response to a flood of warnings of imminent attack, isn't in question here, only the continual failure of the right wing to show the slightest indication ever that they have any knowledge of or commitment to the safety and security of US citizens.
The real world, which is measurable, shows nothing but disdain for the actual security of US citizens by the right, and nothing but failure in any measurable sense.
The fictional world, which involves fake macho pseudo-tough guy Republicans debating on how much harder they would strive to be like TV's Jack Bauer, is much kinder to the actual record of the US right wing.
Bush Jr. was so, like, nuanced and stuff, he like, internally reflected on and philosophized about these terror warnings, he was doin' all sortsa stuff, it said it right there in them 9/11 reports.
Any damn way, I ain't got to prove that Bush did anything, anything, any single one thing at all to, you know, look like he gave a flip, I just sit here and say that all them damn Bush doubters, they'z the ones what gotta prove that Bush didn't do anything.
Now, a'course, if itta been Preznit Gore, it'd all be differnt, what with all the People's Treason Trials we'd be havin' for him and every other Democrat for failin' us on 9/11.
Thank you again, Glenn, and Digby, and Atrios, et al, for doing the difficult and (at least among the prestigious punditocracy) thankless job of pointing out the obvious and the easily proven.
On one of those blogs it was stated that from the right's point of view, "Conservatism can never fail, it can only be failed."
Unfortunately I think the moment of greatest tension has passed, but there is just enough potential out there where we may get a truly, full-bore, public complete and utter losing it by Bush Jr.
I wish I could confidently count the current scurrying away from Bush Jr. by the "true conservatives" (those Reagan corpse sodomizers who a short while ago were humping Bush Jr's leg as Reagan II) as a real tension, but I think that even Bush Jr. knows it's now a necessary game for them.
One can really hope, though.
I'm not going to let these guys think into the cornfield the time not so long ago when George W. Bush Jr. was regarded as a daring renewal of Conservative Majesty combined resurrection of Ronald Reagan, King Solomon, and Sgt Rock, both the lunatic anti-Constitutional gang of "conservative" thugs AND the fawning, weak-kneed, bowled-over-by-His-Manly-Cod-Pieceyness major news company journalists and pundits.
If they want to have their 20th Party Congress / Kruschev moment when they come out and denounce Bush's Stalinist crimes, then they need to actually repudiate the things Bush Jr. did and stood for -- which they applauded to an extremely sickening and homo-erotic degree.
Sure, America's leading conservatives have every incentive to pretend the last 6 years never happened and that they were always in the graveyard sodomizing Reagan's corpse and they were never, ever in Washington DC with that filthy, bad, not-conservative George W. Bush Jr. whom they never, ever kneeled to and worshipped.
But there's no reason on this still somewhat green Earth that anyone else should allow them too, particularly since this is the 21st century, and we have, you know, like, recording devices, and TV archives, and other, you know, like, evidence of their loudly declared and mindless fealty.
