Original article: Goodbye, Mr. Bush

Voices silenced

I am disheartened to hear that Mr. Blumenthal will no longer be writing for Salon. I have been increasingly relying on his articles to sort through some of the 'big picture' issues in U.S. politics. The writer's strike has taken from the public the excellent (and funny) analysis and commentary offered by "The Daily Show" and I worry that with these voices not being able to share their views we will have less help to sort through the morass of rhetoric and bombast just when we need it most, in the critical run up to the primaries in the New Year.

Original article: A farewell note

Farewell

Sad to see you go. Good luck in the future!

Not for Canadians!

Just a heads up that if you are outside of the U.S. the videos won't work. The rest of the website is great though!

Quality articles will attract quality readers.

I'm glad that Alex has said something about this problem; I'm one of those that quickly become frustrated by trolls and just wander off to another site where I'm more likely to read well-written opinions. But, I agree with some of the other readers that the War Room has suffered from the loss of the great analysis that I used to look forward to under Tim Grieve.

@ shaggylocks

"Tim left big shoes to fill, but I'm sure you have what it takes to fill them."

I agree.

I admit that I've been feeling a wee nostalgic about the good ole days with Tim, but it's important for me to say that I think Alex is doing a great job...by beginning this discussion at the very least. A lot of the recent tomfoolery in the reader's letters could be due to this change in command, not to mention the hightened emotions from the elections.

My suggestions are as follows:

- a rating system (I like the editor's choice, but I'd also like to see what opinions other readers consider worthwhile)

- everybody take a deep breath!

p.s. Anonymous posting doesn't bug me at all. There are times when it's the best choice to safely share your view so it's important to keep that option. Also, I've noticed some bone-headed/off topic posts from those with pseudonyms...even, from time to time, paid subscribers so I don't think killing off Anonymous will get rid of posters who can't behave themselves.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander...

My husband changed his name when we got married and it seemed like a relatively simple process...yay Canada!

Thank you...

...for encapsulating how I felt about the NBC coverage of that event. Not to put anyone's nose out of joint but, boy am I glad I'm Canadian. In contrast to NBC in general, CBC has been gracious to a fault...they've had plenty of practice with the number of silver medals that Canadians are winning. (And no, I don't feel any sour grapes. I'm thrilled with all of the athelete's accomplishments, regardless of their nationality.)
