The other side of the other side

That has to be the weakest claim yet. Haven't you read about all the heterosexual, married couples killing their children? How about the good Christian lady who drowned all of her children in a bathtub. With that one anecdote, your argument is demolished. At least the lesbian couple you know didn't drown her child, or kill them. Sure, she shouldn't have ridiculed his request, but show me the perfect heterosexual parents. How many of them did worse than ridicule their gay children?

If you can't see how pathetic your argument is, then you need to sit down long and hard and do some much-delayed thinking. Here's a hint, turn an argument around to see if it make sense, yours doesn't either direction.

<<Other Sides of the Story

I knew a lesbian couple that had a child. I saw him at least once a week. When he was about 7, he started asking 'where's my daddy? how come I don't have a daddy? I want a daddy'... his mother ridiculed his questions and request.>>

First reaction--not bad

I'm glad that's coming from a democrat, too. She sounds a lot more level-headed than her leaders do.

It's time for Pelosi, et al, to resign

She has probably been the worst Speaker the democrats have ever put forth. I'd like to say she has no accomplishments, but it's worse than that, she has gone the opposite direction of an accomplishment. We now have unfettered spying available, and now she's likely to back unfettered cash giveaways to bad (to put it kindly) wall street types, and she's likely to make it possible for republicans to vote against this cash giveaway and have the whole sorry mess be attached to democrats (not without some reason in this instance).

I keep wishing the republicans will lose so badly that they clean house and put in reasonable people, because that would at least give a voting choice. As it is, I feel I have to vote for democrats because they're not so inescapably bad as the republicans.

Speaking of lipstick on a pig

Can Salon purge itself of its fascination with Camille Paglia? I don't recall ever asking a website or media outlet of any kind to drop a "contributor," but in this case I am.

What the hell does Camille Paglia bring to Salon? Just look at the hundreds of letters from RW websites, all droning on in the same language and lack of logic, and Paglia is just provided ammunition to who are basically our enemies.

And what of value does CP ever say? Nothing! She's a pathetic hack who hasn't had an original idea in years, at least not one that she's put on paper. She's simply a professional offensivist, and if I wanted to read crap like that, I'd read Maureen Dowd, who's better at it, if better is an operative word for that kind of verbiage.

CP's propositions are virtually always irrational. You'd think with 8 years of republican irrationality, and however many years of media irrationality, Salon wouldn't want to muddy their site with such transparent muck.

Why bother

I see Miss Professional Offensivist has been given space at Salon once again. I guess it's too long since we've heard about Madonna, or Sexual Personae, or how hateful the Clintons are, or the usual Paglia fare.

I don't know which is worse to think, that she believes the total crap she writes, or that she doesn't and is willing to infect the public discourse at such a crucial time.

Why, Miss P.O. are you so enchanted with liars? It doesn't speak well of your cognitive facilities or give your opinions much objective value.

Please, Miss P.O., go back to staring at your navel, or whatever it is you do between screeds, and stay there.

Whatever it is that possesses Salon to post her crap here, I can't imagine. It's like going to a family gathering where you know your crazy aunt (in this case) will be, the one who lacks facility in personal hygiene but insists on crowding in on everyone in small spaces, smacking her chewing gum, and proclaiming her expertise (loudly) in attracting the opposite sex, between bouts of belching, scratching her hidden places and picking knits out of her hair.

But, I suppose the lesson in this is that everyone has their fans. All these admiring conservatives, lapping up Paglia's verbiage, declaring their undying love. My, where DO they come from, and with such short notice? Perhaps they're just following the scent she trails behind her. This brings up another question, has anyone ever seen Maureen Dowd and Camille Paglia in the same room? Just asking...

The media is no excuse

Glenn has touched on one thing I find really annoying about the democratic leadership, they listen to idiots like Broder, Hiatt and others whose opinions they like to pass off as being the views of the public at large.

The democratic leadership, and those running for office need to either totally ignore those opinions, or swat them down like pesky flies. They also need to be more harsh about what the republicans say. Palin has lied in every speech she's made, she has a position that while popular with their extremist base, are not popular with the general public (banning books). Any working person would be troubled with the notion of a politician firing someone because they won't share in her personal vendetta.

Palin is able to give a speech, but knowing who she is and what she does makes her someone I despise. Something Holly said earlier here was exactly what I had been thinking, she's the distillation of those right-wing, tight-lipped women I remember so well in Texas and other places I've come across them, much as GWB is the distillation of the worst values I've seen in people, a snarling anti-intellectualism, arrogance based on no personal accomplishments, and a hateful prickliness borne from a likely subconscious realization that deep down, they're no good through and through.

If people are stupid enough to vote in McCain/Palin, it'll mainly be due to continued media misbehavior and their democratic enablers, and a deeply misinformed public.
