capitalism doesn't work? my, what a shock.

but suppose for a minute business and government was done in public, and available in real time on the web.

would it still be "too hard?" we can track individual atoms, and distant quasars, business activity shouldn't be beyond computer capacity, if the data were available.

let's run the world in public, for the people, by the people. making secrecy illegal is not a catastrophic imposition on business, it would help in many ways. for one thing, you could fire the lawyers, and many accountants. it would require hard work and best practice to stay in business, but consumers would like some of that, i bet.

closing gitmo is only half-

you would have to send the bush cabinet to the icc before anyone will take americans seriously.

i'm still waiting for someone to be hung for what went on in vietnam, where simple genocide was u. s. policy.

Original article: Money ain't a thing

i can't think why a candidate needs money.

anyone can post a resume on the web, and a plan for the execution of office if selected. maybe a 'family picture', for those who want to add an emotional appeal.

voters can find candidates easily nowadays. they don't need help there.where they have trouble is getting information on what would result if someone was given the key to the football.

i can't think why they call it democracy, it's more like a mix of 'american idol' and 'days of our lives', with 'big brother' lurking in the background. can't you think of a better way to run a nation?

nothing new there, mate.

you used to talk that way about the native americans. they weren't 'terrorists', they were 'red devils'. but they were standing on american land, and had to be taught lessons in submission. the american boundaries have moved, but the national character hasn't changed a bit.

you won't learn respect for others, until you are beaten and occupied. the whole world will cheer mexico on!

Original article: I Like to Watch

help me along the way, please..

1. you are a depraved, debauched, fading imperial, consumer clone, or,

2. you are all that, but there's a little spark of humanity left over from when you shared your 8th birthday cake with the poorish kid next door who wasn't invited to the party, or,

3. you are all that, but primarily filling up some space lest the world forget how important you are?

i'm going with number 3 'til i hear from you..

sedition

americans are fortunate they broke away from the british monarchy at a time when thought control legislation was confined to protecting the king. other british colonies did not break away and have sedition laws still, and off-spring hate-crimes speech laws as well.

how lucky you are, to inherit this freedom! of course, newt and like-minded 'american' nazis would do away with this protection because they intend to remain in power, once they get there. and it is luck, yer average american either doesn't know what democracy is, or does know, and intends that it shall not take hold in america. either way, you don't have democracy now, and won't get it on present trends. the nazis only have to succeed once...

Original article: The race vs. gender war

and the winner is...

..john edwards. can't think why a democrat would want to nominate anyone else. obama is going to lose votes by being blackish, and a smooth-talking show pony, clinton is going to lose votes by being female and clintonish.

the democrat party should be choosing a candidate, not a martyr. john edwards is only going to lose votes in the plutocrat segment. that's the way it should be in what passes for the party of struggle street.

why stop there?

why not do all business in public? and all government operations?

there'd be less innovation, so what? a lot of innovation is crooked. but every business could use best practice, and would have to, to remain in business.

a lot of people would have to pay taxes they currently are evading, i can live with that.

and no secret treaties, no secret prisons, no secret political donations. not written down, anyway.

then we could have actual democracy.

thank you, ajcalhoun,

.. for predicting no republican can win. the rest of the world hopes this is the case, but dare not say it, lest the nsa tell the tooth fairy, or sac, to make reprisals.

i just wish the dems were significantly better. only mike gravel and his democracy initiative appeals. alas, only to me.

Thursday, January 17, 2008 06:42 PM

there's a cure for this,

it's called democracy. mike gravel has a suggestion about how to get it. no one wants to talk about it. the sky is indeed falling, and all you can come up with is: "what a shame!"

in associating with homo saps, you gotta expect monkey business.

Saturday, January 19, 2008 12:44 PM

i'm a bit surprised..

these women don't get on a plane for sydney. climate much better, the work is legal, and base rates of pay at least double.

Saturday, January 19, 2008 09:45 PM

what's the use of history?

any nation that elects dubya twice might elect mccain. if you want more of the same, here's the guy.

but why would you want more of the same?

Original article: This Modern World

ok, the current situation..

is not necessarily going well for the people of america. tough!

it's yer own damn fault.

get behind mike gravel's 'initiative for democracy', and when you establish citizen oversight of the federal government, start making that government accountable.

oh! too hard? then go back to wringing your hands and crying out: "somebody odda do something!"

Original article: Fred Thompson drops out

tempting to imagine ..

that the gop establishment put him there to nobble huckabee. are they that devious?

Tuesday, January 22, 2008 01:28 PM

so why don't you do something about it?

aside from whine, that is. mike gravel's 'initiative for democracy' would cure the problem, if you and a few million others got behind it.

or would you prefer to make a living out of whining "somebuddy odda do sompin?"

a people with the power to vote can have a society as good as they wish. if the government is corrupt and venal, don't blame the pollies who are as blameless as flies on a carcass- blame yourselves for being too ignorant, lazy, and crooked to clean washington up.
