hicksville.
the core of the republican party has a gun in one hand, bible in the other, and the world-view of a medieval serf.
at the other end of the republican party are the medieval aristocrats, born to rule, blindly arrogant, and certain of one thing: what's theirs is theirs, what's not theirs will be as soon as god whips the commonists back into their hovels.
it's possible to feel sorry for someone who isn't rich, hasn't a hope of being rich, but gets angry if you suggest they might be better off if obama really was a socialist. because their anger comes from shame, at being losers.
but we all have to live with the real world, even if by building fantasies about democrat 'socialism.' eight years of obama might restore widespread prosperity to america, and establish the democrats as the natural rulers. then some of the yokels might start voting democrat, particularly young people.
but probably not. obama may be unable to restore what republican, and democrat, politicians have been destroying for many years. the yokels will blame him, the repubs will get in, the slide into national poverty will continue.
america needs democracy, to get long-term policy and make obsolete the corruption and incompetence of party politics. america won't get it- the yokels are too ignorant, the elite are happy to bleed the country for their personal benefit, and the half-dozen people like mike gravel who see what needs to be done may as well be silent, for in the country of the blindly self-satisfied, talk about the emperor's new clothes is just ignored.
but i suspect ralph nader has done more for the american people than any of his critics here, more than all together, and more that obama has done so far.
yep, he's old and cranky, and contemptuous of mainstream political parties. so he should be, the dems are just as crooked as the repubs, every chance they get. every political party exists to make sure democracy doesn't happen, rule 'by the people' leads to reduced pay and privileges for politicians who are thereby transmuted into clerks.
gore didn't win because he was al gore, and the dem party was incompetent. the reality of dubya was so obvious, so bad, that his election says much more about his supporters, and his opposition, than about ralph nader. the fact is, the rednecks, the bible clutchers, the plain old dimwitted know nothings made a big effort and got one of their own in the whitehouse. don't blame nader, 50% of american voters wanted dubya, more the second time.
democracy would help, but you're not smart enough to figure this out. so continue playing russian roulette with the nation, but do try to be a little more philosophical when you get the occasional bullet in the head.
really, nader isn't the problem. it's the dimwits who think america should be run by 'idol' contestants.
most americans would get a big improvement in standard of living.
i hope he also wants to stop bombing foreigners who have never harmed america. americans are human beings, but news flash, so are non-americans. dropping a bomb on 10 people because you think one might not like america is mass murder even if you're right.
don't worry about obama restoring america's reputation, it ain't repairable. too many corpses.
but the good news is, from a choice of two, america is going for the better one. this must be harder than it looks, in view of picking dubya twice.
"now, what are you gonna do about iraq, about afghanistan, about the recession, about foreign trade and job exporting?"
do you really think there'll be any trouble laughing at obama?
there's a big difference between bad and terrible. dubya is a notable example of terrible. he is not unique. america has been killing abroad from day1, and drone bombs make it possible to continue without disturbing the voters with american casualties.
enjoy obama while you can, there'll be another dubya along soon, as nero followed caligula and both were succeeded by incompetents and maniacs. do look into democracy soon, it's the only hope for a peaceful and secure future.
"and then we press this button, and vote to bomb people on the other side of the world, that have never harmed us. usa! usa! usa!"
if americans were presented with this choice, would this be their response? perhaps you can see why i urge democracy over oligarchy.
the previous 8 years were as empty, what a much better president he would be.
but he represents america, bible in one hand, gun in the other, dumb in between.
don't know why he is so unpopular, he hasn't changed a bit from the murderous fool america took to it's heart. you'd have to conclude voters are stupid to vote for him twice, and hypocrites to disown him. the fact that he still gets 25% approval means quite a few are merely stupid.
how'd he get there?
dropped in, in the dead of night, by a cia black chopper, and substituted for the smart lovable dubya y'all voted for by a team of ss agents under the direction of cheney?
well, maybe. funnier things have happened since. but a better bet is y'all don't know how to pick'em. once you understand that, would everyone that voted for dubya twice pleases withdraw from the electoral rolls? yer just holding the country back.
give the 'socialists' a chance, the liberals, the tree-huggers, the pro-choice, pro gay marriage real americans have all been telling you what a loser dubya is, and now everyone agrees. well, there are some really slow learners out there, but you know what i mean.
fair is fair, guys. go to the back of the class, and stay there for about 20 years.
when he put his hand up, it was in terrible shape, but since then we had to redefine 'terrible'. good luck to him, and put a shoulder to the wagon when you see it. gonna need every body, this is an "all hands on deck!" moment.
