So much for your rationale, Dems
[Read the article: One of these things is not like the other]
[Read more letters about this article: Here](in the booming tone common to late-night Ginsu ads):
Democrats, worried that taking a stand against the Torture Bill will hurt you in the upcoming elections?
Scared into voting for the bill that allows the government to hold people without due process so Republicans won't be able to slander you as "soft on terror"?
Don't worry, no matter what you do, they'll call you weak on national security anyway!
Even if you vote for the Americans Love Torture Bill while simultaneously taking down an Islamofascist in Reagan Airport as he's trying to mix shampoo and lipstick into a plastic explosive, they'll call you a "terrorist loving pussy."
But wait, there's more!
If the legislation passes, other countries will feel free to torture Americans overseas!
All kidding aside, the Republican smear and fear machine will always try to portray Democrats as clueless, soft and afraid on Iraq and terrorism, because it's the only card they have to play. So get over it, reach down and dust off your principles, straighten your spines, remember that you're in office to protect the American people, not your own sorry asses, and FILIBUSTER THE FUCKING THING.
The reason Rove and the GOP have been able to run roughshod over you in the last 5 years is not because they are so brilliant, but because you've LET THEM. When your choices and actions are driven by fear, the other guy wins. That's how bullies bully. When you act from courage and strength, you always make the other guy back down.
Get a goddamned clue, please.

Balls? What balls?
[Read the article: Senate approves detainee bill; Bush attacks Democrats as soft on terror]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In the future, the Democratic donkey had damned well better be shorn of his testicles in all illustrations. The Dems prove, once again, that they have no clue that acting out of fear does nothing but give your enemy the advantage.
The Democrats may still take back one or both houses of Congress in November (I doubt voters will take the usual GOP rhetoric very seriously), but will we be much better off? They won't have the balls to impeach Bush for fear someone might think they're mean.
Jesus Hairy Christ.

Republicans = Pro-Torture, Pro-Spying on Americans, Anti-Constitution
[Read the article: Senate approves detainee bill; Bush attacks Democrats as soft on terror]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well said, dcmeserve. Between now and the election, we need to work with every progressive and Democratic organization to pound a single powerful meme into the minds of the American electorate: The GOP doesn't care about keeping us safe, they care about approving torture, spying on their own people, and violating the most basic principles that make us American. In other, simpler words:
IF AMERICA STANDS FOR THE BEST, FAIREST, NOBLEST AND WISEST IN THE WORLD, THE REPUBLICANS HAVE BETRAYED EVERY AMERICAN.
That's the way we'll slaughter them in November. Then we recruit some Dems with spine.

Please to 'splain the Democrats to me, Lucy
[Read the article: Bulletproof politics]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Can anyone please tell me why the Democrats around the country seem so completely clueless as to the knife fight nature of political campaigning these days and how to wage such a battle? I mean, are they all this dumb? Where's the creative thinking? The ruthlessness? The attacks on the Achilles heels of the corrupt, incompetent, bigoted, corporate loving, Bush-blowing Republicans? I don't get it.
I mean, how hard is it to pre-empt the "smear and fear" tactics of Karl Rove by running ads and making speeches in August and September that say, "My opponent is so desperate to take me down that you're certain to see a lot of ugly, slanderous attacks on me in the media, in advertising and on the Internet in the coming weeks. When you do, keep two things in mind: my opponent is using such attacks because he has nothing else, and such attacks are an insult to the intelligence of you, the voter."
How hard would it be to do that? You'd completely take away the negative slam ads from the GOP candidates and turn them into negatives for the people who run them. Why don't Democrats do this? Can their logic be so completely different from our Earth logic?
I don't get it.

No...
[Read the article: Foley pushed child porn bills, asked: "Do I make you a little horny?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...but you do make me a little nauseous.
How do you spell "Republican?"
H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y.

Bad, bad bad for GOP
[Read the article: Did the White House hide a 9/11 warning from the 9/11 Commission?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gotta disagree with you about Rove digging the Foley revelations, Tim. I can't think of too many things that would be worse for the Republicans' chances of holding on to Congress right now than a scandal in which the party of family values is perceived as coddling a pedophile in their ranks.
Hypocrites, pedophile protectors...yes, even the Democrats can't screw this one up. Along with George "Macaca" Allen and Jack Abramhoff, we're getting quite a picture of the Groin Old Party.

Baby, Mo was over eighteen
[Read the article: Denny Hastert's Web site magic act]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Half the fun of this is going to be watching Coulter, O'Reilly, Hannity, Malkin and the rest of the shit-for-brains rightie dog pack spin this by stuttering, "Bbbbbbbut Clinton...!" over and over again.
Hey, Guardians of Family Values (unless you're a gay family, but we won't talk about that), at least Monica was over 18 when Bubba used her as a humidor. Plus, in case you hadn't wised to this yet, um, Bush is president now. Bill C. is out kicking your asses over Osama and trying to save the world.
Word up.

I need a shower
[Read the article: ABC: Foley solicited date with page]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ick. Ick, ick, ick. ICK!
This cat us beyond creepy. In reality, what it looks like is that the paragon of juvenile protection for the GOP is just another repressed homosexual pedophile.
Rep. Foley, meet Mr. Michael Jackson. You guys should have a lot to talk about. Seduction techniques, perhaps?

Damn those Democrats...
[Read the article: ABC: Foley solicited date with page]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...and their mind control! Right now, at this very second, they are forcing me to crave an artery-clogging cheeseburger and sex with my wife when I know I should be working!
Damn you, you brain-fucking bastards!!
