...you've played nice. You've made a couple of tiny, symbolic concessions. Now ignore any more petty, bitter GOP bitching and cram this bill up their ossified asses.
These pricks care NOTHING for the country and are blind to the damage their ideology has caused, so fuck them. Time to turn Bulldog Emmanuel loose and make sure any member of the GOP caucus who votes against the stimulus package is demonized as "hating Americans."
How sweet an irony would that be?
By the way, the Mall? Perfect symbol for the country.
I'm running out of words for the cowardice, ideological enslavement, arrogance, corruption and abject power-madness that the minority party (ooh, it gives me tingles to type that) keeps displaying. So I think I'll just sit with my jaw open and gape for a while.
I suspect this map reflects long-term demographic trends, rather than likely 2010 electoral results. Still, it's reflective of several powerful movements: the increased influence of Latin and African American voters, the disconnect of the GOP message and policies (which seem 99% based on division, culture wars and ignorance these days) and the now-established ground troops in all 50 states first put in place by Howard Dean and leveraged to the hilt by the Obama campaign.
What remains to be seen is if the Democrats can a) Take advantage by continuing to stump and built coalitions in all 50 states or if they will back away from the Dean/Obama success strategy, and b) if the Dems will prove worthy of the support by backing away from Pelosi/Reid equivocating and cringing and actually act with principles and courage by doing what is right to repair the gross damage done during the Bush years. Stay tuned.
Are you kidding me? This is another one of those, "Please, GOP, elect an openly racist RNC chief, puh-leeze" moments. As spineless as the Democrats have been under Pelosi and Reid, at least they aren't this cluelessly self-eviscerating.
Man, I'm already looking forward to the 2010 bloodbath.
Sky? Blue.
Water? Wet.
Trump's hair? Bad.
Everything Obama does if you're a conservative? Wrong.
Seconded.
I was pro-TARP and all for saving the banks a while back. But now, as more of this comes out, I'm agreeing more and more with the folks who say, like the faux commentator in "Airplane," "I say, let 'em crash."
I mean, first of all, these people are beyond incompetent and corrupt. For instance, Bank of America says that it needs $25 billion because it underestimated Merrill-Lynch's losses before it snapped up the troubled company. WHAT? Did you have your accountants go over the books and kick the tires or did you just grab the company like a crazed shopper on Xmas eve? Have these banks completely lost their minds?
At this point, I have to ask: as terrible as the economy is becoming, with credit frozen anyway, would it really be much worse if we let these banks and brokerages crash and burn? Yes, I know we'd shed a few hundred thousand more jobs, but that's just a tiny fraction of the 4.7 MILLION already out of work (and that's just the ones still collecting unemployment). Other new banks would spring up to take their place or solidly run smaller banks would expand to grab the market share. And we would give bankers and financial "geniuses" an ass-kicking that showed them that there are consequences for being greedy, stupid and arrogant.
Right, Dubya?
I think it might be time to consider letting these shitty banks be shitty banks and flush them.
Did he just finish with a rant about how "governments use emergencies to shove programs down our throats without any discussion" without the slightest tinge of irony?
Glenn, remember the Patriot Act?
Clearly, the man doesn't know what irony means, either. This is the voice of the New Right, who makes Rush sound like Albert Schweitzer.
This just points up how vital it was to elect Obama, who will undoubtedly appoint a smart progressive judge to replace RBG when she passes or retires...
...and then watch him or her struggle through confirmation because of tax problems.
Those mean, awful reporters and their four-year college educations. They tried to tear down Sarah Palin by asking her actual questions about actual issues and...expecting her to have cogent, intelligent answers! And then they broadcast her reaction when she didn't have the answers!
You maniacs! Damn you, liberal media! Damn you all to hell!
This letter brought to you by the "Please Let Sarah Palin Run for President in 2012, Because We All Need a Good Laugh" Committee.
You owe me a new MacBook. Your pants comment made me spit Diet Coke all over my current one. Bravo.
Isn't Michelle Bachmann the batshit insane congresswoman who, not long before the fall election, went on TV and spoke sincerely about the need for an investigation of members of Congress to see if any of them harbored "un-American" thoughts or ideas? I believe she almost handed the election to her previously dead-and-buried opponent.
Cuz, y'know, yo, ain't nothing hipper than channeling dat badass mofo Joe McCarthy. Word to the HUAC.

Now I have to go wash after wading into that muck.
Mitch McConnell: "You complete me."
Rush Limbaugh: "You had me at hello."
That's hysterical. I missed that one. Thanks.
This theatre of the absurd just gets better 'n' better.
...one of the hands-down best pieces of satire I've seen in a while. Please send the writer to SNL, which is just painful in its lack of pacing.
Best of all, the GOP self-satirizes like no other. Word.
