...that the Repugnant Party has been completely hijacked by a slavish devotion to an anti-union, pro-CEO, small government, take care of the big donors while screwing the little guy ideology.
I mean, after a thundering beat-down in the general election, the embarrassment of the circular firing squad taking place in the right wing media thanks to barely-coherent types like Limbaugh, Malkin, the wackos behind the "produce a birth certificate now or vacate the office" conspiracy lunacy, and the ongoing belly laugh that is Sarah Palin...after all that, don't you think the GOP leaders would be saying, "Hey, maybe this has all been a repudiation of what we stand for and how we conduct our affairs in the public forum. Perhaps we'd better reinvent our party."?
Apparently not. Apparently, the Republitards would rather settle scores and spew more rage. Well, guys who are hoping for a reversal of fortune in 2010, America is watching. Rahm Emanuel is keeping score. You think anybody's going to forget who dropped a turd into the pool when one of the country's biggest employers was about to take down one million jobs, all while you were throwing cash bouquets to AIG and Citigroup?
Keep digging, GOP. Two more years of shoveling and you might just reach Hell, where you can join Jerry Falwell and Dick Cheney, aka Satan.
They "plays hoops together?" Oh, does they?
I know it was a deadline-induced typo (what, as a writer, I like to call a "near-deadline experience"), but it's a chance to tweak you, Tom.
Oh, I'll be watching that one for the title alone. That's more potential for bitchiness, catfighting and drama (not to mention toxic pools of running mascara) than "Top Chef," "Next Top Model" and "American Idol" rolled into one.
Set phasers to stunning.
I want to see MORE of Joe the Butt-Crack, Caribou Barbie and all the rest of the best of the GOP--ahem--brain trust in the coming two years. What better way to bury this misbegotten party then under a wave of its own stupidity? It would make me very, very happy for the majority of the public to see Republicans by 2010 as either a) mouth-breathing, crayon-writing troglodytes; b) rage-filled bloviators in the Rush, Hannity, Mike Savage and TrAnn Coulter vein; or c) obstructionists out to destroy the Obama presidency at a time when millions of Americans are suffering.
Keep covering the bastards, Salon. I'll sacrifice a few IQ points for the good of the team.
Freedom!
...unless you're homosexual.
Personal responsibility!
...unless you're a Wall Street banker.
Small government!
...unless you need the government to bail out your biggest campaign donors and save the economy that your incompetent present wrecked.
I can't wait to see the line that gets drawn between the Dems and the Repugnant Party.
But that's all. I saw her on The Daily Show and her answers were so vapid that she actually made me long for the equivocating, spinning but cogent work of Ari Fleischer. What a nitwit.
...what the fuck are you talking about? Or were absent from class for the months that the Edwards affair story was being endlessly reported and basically ended his political life?
Jeebus, you neocons are getting desperate.
...some more terrorists flew some more planes into some more buildings. Isn't that what good Americans do to show their patriotism--go shopping?
...was probably Elephantman.
Yes, people, this is what the conservative movement has come to. Let this be the prep for 4 years of half-assed lawsuits, birth certificate "truthers" and at least 3 more foam-flecked books by TrAnn Coulter. And in 2010, we'll see how voters feel about politicos who care only about flogging their dogs while people's jobs, homes and retirements burn.
Amen. Great idea to send aid to Gaza. We've screwed those people for so long via our slavish, incomprehensible devotion to Israel that we owe them, big time.
OK, if this is the typical mindset and intellectual capacity of our congressional representatives, I'm very afraid. From CNN:
"Rep. Bill Young, R-Florida, said he has "quite a bit of anxiety" about the possibility of transferring detainees to U.S. facilities.
"Number one, they're dangerous," Young said. "Secondly, once they become present in the United States, what is their legal status? What is their constitutional status? I worry about that, because I don't want them to have the same constitutional rights that you and I have. They're our enemy."
Um...who wants a crack at this one? OK, I'll take it. Hey, Congressman Dumbass, the whole point of this little exercise is that they should have had the same rights to legal counsel, to know the charges and evidence against them, and to come to trial in a reasonable amount of time as everyone else in this country has! What part of "illegal detention" didn't you understand, you southern shitkicker?
On the other hand, if the GOP can't get past this fear-first mentality and this is the kind of crap they continue to spew even as Obama and his team make major headway to restore the U.S. moral and ethical stance in the world, then we're in for years of fun as the Grand Old Party self-destructs. Whee.
The more ink and EM spectrum you waste yammering about this non-story (along with the idiotic birth certificate "conspiracy"), the more you confirm for the majority of Americans that you are truly delusional sock puppets who can and should be utterly ignored, marginalized, mocked and exiled.
