What matters about Obama's "Centrist" move

Dear Mr. Greenwald: I agree with most of what you say. However, the question is not whether or not Obama is superior to McCain, or whether his positions are less toxic. Rather, the question is whether any of his former supporters can trust anything the man says. On staggeringly important issues, the man has fallen short of his promises. Today FISA and religious pandering, tomorrow who knows? Expanding Gitmo? Staying in Iraq? Bomb, bomb bombing Iran? Please tell me why he won't take THESE positions. Until you can, don't chide the progressive left if they abandon this hypocrite.

Just What We Need

Another simpering ninny at the helm who would rather lie than level with the facts. God help us. (How's that for faith based politics, Barack)? Go get 'em Glenn. You are worth 1,000 Olbermanns and 10,000 Obamas.

More Trouble in Obamaland

Ten minutes ago, the New York Times reported that Obama will be "refining" his Iraq withdrawal timeline. Forget about the pesky Fourth Amendment. We have a runaway train on our hands. Again.

Telecom Donations

It is quite apparent that Obama is not going to change his mind. The only protest people have is the power of the purse. Stop all donations NOW. Period. He is probably covered by massive donations from the telecoms for a job well done anyway.

I am tired of being called a troll or a left wing libertarian. Since when is it "left" to protect the integrity of the Constitution? I can see his moving to the center on gun control and abortion rights, less so on providing religious entities with public lucre; these are arguable constitutional positions, however thin they may be. But he crosses the line with FISA. This is not a left-right issue. It should be a wake up call for anyone who loves our country. It doesn't matter whether he is selling the American public out for a few dollars in telecom donations or whether he truly believes the shit he is spouting. He is hurting America. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Stop funding this machine.

We Was Had

Again I was wrong. I should have voted for Hillary. I ask, how much money has Obama gotten for his vote? What does he now owe the telecoms?

I thought I could still vote for him and just not support his campaign financially. But alas, I cannot do such a thing even with the risk of putting McCain in office. The Constitutional hit job that Obama did today is just too much to stand for. I will write in Feingold or Dodd. They are true patriots and deserve all our thanks

Original article: Torture and the rule of law

Stunning

Dear Glen: Thank you once again for your stunning article. All that's needed is for Congress to cook up a "compromise" torture bill. They can call it "The Required Bathing Act" and Obama can support it citing the need for America to have clean prisoners, all the while recognizing the Bush Administrations excesses. Habeus Corpus is such a left wing thing anyway!

America's Chickens

And so now America's chickens have come..... home to roost. God Bless America! God Damn Pelosi, Reid and the Bush crowd. Despicable, traitorous worms.

Left and Proud of It

Propositions such as the World is flat, global warming is a fraud perpetrated by tree huggers, the Earth was made in six days (literally), guns don't kill people, people kill people, and gays are out to ruin the American way of life are bedrock centrist notions. Now you get it Glen!

Palin

If Couric looks like a heavyweight in an interview, one has to be embarrassed for the Republican party and their airheaded choice of Sarah Palin. The irrelevant leading the incompetent.

You betcha!

I bet George Bush is self-flagellating because he didn't thunk about that brilliant scam on the Constitution that Palin came up with. Only the right wing nut jobs can have any rights under the First Amendment. We can only hope that secularism and pluralism will return to Washington with the expulsion of these canard-pandering sophists.

Obama's cabinet

I just read at Joan Walsh's thread that people are already naming names for an Obama cabinet. The latest line is that it should be a bipartisan cabinet filled with the likes of Schwarzeggers and other revolting sorts in order to appear Lincolnian. They have been reading far too much Doris Goodwin.

Obama's cabinet should be filled with rational freethinkers dedicated to improving our lot by relying on the better instincts of mankind rather than relying on the Word of the Almighty, whoever they may be. Too often the age old battle of Church v. State has thwarted the will of the American people. We should all follow the dictate of Madison and Jefferson: the affairs of Church should be kept separate from matters of State, both for the benefit of Religion as well as Government.
