Hilarious article. Written by a smart, informed COMEDIAN, folks. (Why are the comedians infinitely smarter than the politicans in America?)
I have been wondering lately why Americans sniff at the idea of an elite, intellectual person running the country. Doesn't it make more sense to want the smartest person you can find running the show??
The joke of a government that has been destroying your wonderful country since January 20, 2001 needs to go. Please, for the love of whatever you find holy, start with electing a Democrat next year. A smart one.
First of all, we have learned a few things about John King today- he is a thin-skinned, elitist hot head who can't abide the slightest criticism. Good to know.
And secondly, his email was the funniest thing I've read on-line in ages. His staggering lack of self-awareness and his junior high logic are priceless.
The fact that the media essentially picks the candidates by who they choose to interview, and how, has never been so blatantly obvious.
No one can benefit from this.
Glenn, keep up the amazing work by making these "reporters" eat their own words.
Fred Thompson acted like he was doing the Republican party a favor by deigning to enter the race, and he seemed to expect that the masses would naturally follow him due to his, uh, charisma.
He didn't want to work for the job, so he doesn't deserve the job.
I'm sure Sam Waterston isn't worrying too much, either.
..."It's not a lie if YOU believe it."
Nothing will ever convince the logic-free True Believers that any of it was a lie.
In Bush's orbit, you take a position, gather the facts (or lies) needed to support it, and never look back.
A method of governance that is, well, unbelievable!!
Yes, he was a fairly decent rock journalist in the late 80s, but how that makes him the best that both CBS (he was actually White House correspondent!) and CNN could come up with is mind-boggling.
More proof that to be a TV "journalist", one need only have a full head of hair, a deep voice, and a sycophantic demeanor.
I doubt the ability to read is even required anymore- the producer can feed them their lines through an earpiece.
Glenn, you are truly the best thing about Salon, and journalism as a whole. The truth you have the intellectual vigor and courage to bring us is depressing, though, isn't it?
And I was having such a nice Valentine's day...
...more with the reporters than the campaign. Yes, the McCain people are doing whatever they think will work to ensure a smooth flow of positive, reverential, "Bush/Kim-Jong-Il" style of "reporting". That the reporters happily buy into this is the freaking problem!
Journalism is supposed to be INDEPENDENT. How independent can you be if you are reporting on your good friends, the McCains??
Now let's all sit back and watch the hard-hitting, questioning, in-depth reporting we'll see from those pseudo-journalists, stuffed full of BBQ and tamales...
Nice to see Glenn beat my response, and with some withering sarcasm! No wonder I love this guy's work!

Yeah, I guess I have to hold a nice Democrat to the same standards I'd hold a Republican, so Gov. Spitzer's got to go.
All I really wanted to say is, What is with wives who stand there beside their husbands during these embarrassing announcements?? Let him take this one on his own, Mrs. Spitzer!
I have to agree with one of the fist posters. Surely this is sarcasm; surely no one with HALF a brain could find the insipid, hackneyed drivel that was Noonan's column to be anything other than hilarious...surely...
Yes, I know I'm wrong. I know that these minds are what pass for intellectuals in the Right Wing Noise Machine. What could be sadder than that?
I'm Canadian, but I honestly feel sorry for Americans right now. I feel like you are having your democratic process stolen from you. It truly WAS once a beacon around the world, but now everyone can see that the current culture of "fact-free truth" has spawned a government that does not seek to protect and nurture citizens so much as increase the wealth of a few giant conglomorates.
They are trying to ensure that your voices aren't being heard, your opinions are worthless, and that you continue to vote against your own interests.
Glenn has done a great job pointing out the hypocracy with which the Right has done these things, but it still boggles the mind.
"I'm a regular Joe-Six-Pack NASCAR fan! Sure, I make millions of dollars and live on the Upper East Side, but I know what is best for you, fellow NASCAR dads!" GAWD.
Please please please don't get distracted, and please vote for a Democrat this fall.
Yes, she was definitely trying to be poetic and folksy, but so what?
She can start and end with "I love puppies" and it doesn't excuse the insulting garbage in the middle.
And, seriously, Henry Ford??
I can't even think about John McBush now without an image of his swinging ball sack coming to mind.
Pro- I have been laughing hysterically all day.
Con- really, I don't think I need to spell that out.
Oh, and lookie lookie, Mr. Brian Williams has responded (sorta) to the NYT Military Analyst story...
Love how in his defense of the situation, Williams points out that the retired generals are "patriots".
Subtext being that patriots don't lie; patriots support the war; patriots wear flag pins; patriots read the news at NBC.
Glenn, you have become the true patriot by exposing these frauds and liars.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
The accountability imposed by another country for the CIA's kidnapping and torture reveals much about our own.
Fox News' morning show plays to type, talking about whether Muslims in the Army should face "special debriefings"
The Maine fight was supposed to be the dress rehearsal for repealing California's Prop. 8 -- but gay marriage lost
