  • Salon and Joan, a question

[Read the article: It's a really good contract!]

Glenn Greenwald’s piece today, “It’s Really a Good Contract” is his finest to date of so many he has done on exposing Beltway corruption. A poster on his thread this morning, Cliff Butler, raised this plea, “Again, I yearn for a more widely distributed GG exposure, since he really is the only one who can pull these things apart, limb by limb!”

My question is, what is Salon doing to get Glenn more M$M exposure? I believe you have the best site on the Internet and my premium fee was some of the best money I have ever spent. Like Glenn, Salon could use more exposure. If you don’t have the resources, I bet many Salon users would donate dollars to help you.

Until I started using Salon, I was ignorant about the extent and pervasiveness of the corruption and I am certain that far too many Americans share my ignorance. Our democracy is going down the drain and Glenn may well hold the key to at least plugging some of that drain.

Millions in Iraq and elsewhere suffer and die because of my country and my government. It is obscene and makes me sick daily. Please consider starting a serious, oops not a word I should use any more, an intense campaign to get Glenn and your message to the masses. Our nation needs you in this dire hour.

  • Posted this on the Joan Walsh thread. Who's willing to donate?

Meant to write “How Our Seedy, Corrupt Washington Establishment Operates” instead of Joan's title.

“Yes, Maliki is directly to blame for various particulars. But truth is, this "unity national government" was never any of these three things nor did the major players want it to be. It was/is a mechanism that matures the differences rather than the commonalities of the various Iraqi groups, and perhaps inevitably so.”

From the time that daddy Bush wisely chose to not proceed to Baghdad for the reasons that Darth Cheney so eloquently stated on TV in 1994, the Shiites, expatriates and Iran plotted to con our idiot neocons into invading Iraq and killing Saddam to gain total control of Iraq and reek vengeance on the Sunni because they did not have sufficient military power to do it themselves. After we did the deed for them, why in the world would anyone think that they would be for a unified, secular Iraq? Of course, all of the key Iraqi parliament and other players have ties to Iran and Sunni and Kurd input is insignificant.

Everybody is so busy playing obscene political games that reason and humanity are lost in the slop. It is sheer folly, of which we have in abundance, to see any way out of this mess other than to accept a federalized partition even though it would be a hard pill for the neighbors to swallow. It is where we will end up in time if we want to prevent more massive slaughter. Even that may not happen because covering your ass and blaming everybody but yourself may unfortunately triumph.

It’s sad that we have to watch such a political farce play out in our government and the M$M and watch these sick players become even more adept at propaganda, lobbying and corruption.
