I remain thoroughly impressed that by dint of sheer high-quality writing and hammering away at these issues, you have actually gotten to the point within one year that people are listening to you.
This kind of pressure is what made the media so thoroughly right-wing and reactionary, and it's precisely this kind of pressure that will fix it. I just feel privileged to witness it all.
I'm not any kind of expert on substance abuse diagnosis beyond having grown up in an alcoholic household (unlike my expertise with IP addresses and email headers, both of which make it plain that Col. Boylan is lying about his "identity thief"). But this pattern -- making a passive-aggressive attack, then denying it, calling the victim a liar, or simply suggesting the victim "misunderstood" the attacker's intent -- is so very characteristic.
Authoritarianism in general always comes off to me as alcoholism, but I'm wondering if Col. Boylan might not actually have a problem.
