What you said I'd apply to Condi: I guess I'm so used to the lies, false and calculated emotion, and political theatre that I can't figure this one out.

Who knows, but I like to think that no one is irremediable. Except, I suppose, Nozzle-whatever (at this point).

AnnieW says it's kind of weird for me to think that Rove wasn't the most divisive, that he could be outdone, and he was. I think Rice realizes this.

I hope so. I really do have a lot of faith in humanity, even if that makes me naive.

I Just Noticed This, Thanks to Arne

It the liberal illuminati own it all then there is no way the conservative side of our country is ever going to be heard or represented. We need both side (sic).

Why?

As Arne noted We've seen the "conservative side". And we've seen what they've done. No thanks. No need to "meet halfway" with that bunch of azos and thugs.

So why do you say this?

mr snoid

We need both side

God help me, I try not to be small-minded but--well, I can't help laughing at what's laughable.

sysprog

I meant to comment on that by noting that GOPers have behaved similarly in recent times (which is to say, the last 6,000 years since Creation was ordained by He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named [aka Tyrannosaurus Rex]) as Juliebird is now suggesting Dems do. Unanimity. I just wanna know why we can't all get along?!

I'm Off

to bed also.

Lotta laughs (well, for me anyway, if not anyone else).

"Why wouldn't he be? What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House."

My God but that's depressing. Emanuel has been nothing more than a knee-breaking political operator for lo these many years. That ain't "change (we can believe in)." Thanks for highlighting that. God Damn, but I'm not going to sit here quietly (can't guarantee anything beyond that, although I'll do my best).

And Let Me

anticipate the righties who'd say "Well, there you are, that's who you voted for!" by saying the fight for decency and justice is never ending. It's simply more never-ending with Republicans.

GoodCelery!

A chef-in-clothes who serves breakfast:`Two beers, moose burger on a stolen bun, or 'Coco Puffs for CEO's and thieves.

Just great.

Never Been Clear About This

sort of thing:

Unfortunately, the country faces pressing problems that he'll have to spend his precious political capital on. It may be a cool calculation on his part to wait before taking up the civil rights of gays and lesbians.

Why are these mutually exclusive? I'm reminded of the quip regarding walking a chewing gum at the same time. Obama has no capital with the right and who cares anyway? Doing the right thing is a matter of principle, not capital.

Says Glenn These aren't abstract injustices; they heavily burden, and can even devastate, people's lives for no good reason. And it is a severe governmental intrusion into the private choices and private lives of Americans.

Absolutely. I won't beat a dead horse by noting that the second statement flies in the face of all that Republicans theoretically hold so dear (well, I think I just beat a dead horse). I will second the statement regarding the devastating effect on peoples' lives for no good reason. It is that very pettiness that floors me.

Original article: How wrong they were

I'm

a very petty person (as I've repeatedly made clear elsewhere) so I really love this kind of thing, Vince.

Erick the Red

We intend to constantly remind the base about these people ....

Yeah, that "base" of, what, about 13 drooling troglodytes?

Erick, I want to remind you that Stalin, Hitler, and Franco are all dead now. No need to froth at the mouth on behalf of those who don't display your idea of "right thinking."

Harry

That she didn't know stuff isn't that bad. Yes these are basic things people should know but I can let that slide. To me the telling issue is that she refused to prepare. In other words, not only did she not know things, she refused to correct it. She thought she could just sit in front of Katie, do her cute adorable 'hey don't everyone like me' routine and she'd be ok.

Good read on the situation. I'd give you an A if we were in the nation of Africa (capital: Boise, I think?!)

She Is So Terrible

Who among us would say no if we were suddenly offered the job, even if we knew we weren't quite qualified?

I would. Why? Because I'm not qualified (and know it, and there's no "quite" about it).

Can a body without a spine grow one?

If I didn't know better I'd think that was stem-cell talk.

Your value as a poster cannot be estimated. In a word, priceless.

I hope you're doing okay.

Beagle of Unhappiness

If you loose in the state that the rest of the country makes fun of for being unhinged anyway, there's really not a great deal of hope for anywhere else. Probably the best approach is to learn from this and exploit it to roll back the civil rights YOU want to eliminate. Say, guns for instance.

One of the things I like about you (well, the only thing, to be truthful) is your utter incomprehensibility. I say that with complete comprehension, by the way.

vondo (hope I have that right)

As for Palin, she had no need to know anything about Africa, so why should she?

How about this: all humans should have/need to have a base of knowledge. Knowing that Africa is a continent rather than a country isn't too demanding on the mind, is it?

catamitebastard: I've long believed that the senatorium was more trouble than it's worth, as the third house of Congress, that is.

Glenn, Man

if you only knew how I laughed at this:

tapinyips

Very true, but I don't see where she equates or compares them. It reads like a laundry list to me, and it seems that lying to American public should be on that list.

Tapinyips and Charles Manson are both bad people, the former because he sometimes reasons poorly and the latter because he's a mass murderer.
