so in effect

SA that paragon of the people's struggle against The Man, is still essentially a racist country where 'black' = 'citizen'. It gets harder to take Zuma and the ANC seriously with each day.

Anyway it has more to do with diplomatic and military alliances with China than it does with any insane notion that Chinese = black. SA and China have some fairly close and strategic ties right now.

the news of the day is

There is water ice on Mars. Confirmed today.

Thursday, June 19, 2008 06:46 PM

Yeah I don't think

That high tech windmills are being made by the tofu-bamboo unwashed hippie electric cooperative yet. I guess you'll have to swallow your rage and hammer your swords into plowshares.

Thursday, June 19, 2008 06:47 PM

right, in 2006 after Katrina

People ran out and filled their tanks with $3.18 gas every time they dropped by 1 gallon. Now, it's just the same ol same ol. When prices go up now it's with a mixture of indifference and relief.

Original article: A new form of birth control

You should read Anthony Burgess's 'The Wanting Seed'

From the early 60's it's a dystopian dark comedy where an overpopulated world encourages homosexuality in order to keep the headcount down.

Is like getting into a fight with your buddy over watching fishing on TV.

Original article: AFSCME endorses Obama

Like you say

Democratic endorsement by public employees unions is to be expected. What will report tomorrow? That the sun rises in the east?

Thursday, June 19, 2008 10:11 PM

Black Osama?

No no no no no no that won't do at all.

Friday, June 20, 2008 06:36 AM

Tupac Barama?

wow, people will will vote for anyone.

Friday, June 20, 2008 06:40 AM

It's not a sin to be retarded.

Otherwise you all need to bring a lot of sunblock to hell with you.

Friday, June 20, 2008 07:17 AM

Yeah but

This kind of smacks of John Kerry's half assed late attempt to deflect swift boaters. Either you're above it all and you lose or you're not and you attack. One or the other.

Friday, June 20, 2008 07:18 AM

I wonder if they worked out a payment schedule.

Obama agreed to pay some of Clinton's debts. This is the quid pro quo.

Friday, June 20, 2008 07:20 AM

But Gordon....

Secret Jew money might be funding it. And you know Mossad bugs all windmills to secretly spy on Americans.

Friday, June 20, 2008 07:24 AM

You have that backwards

We lived through St. Jimmy of Carter's economic debacle followed by Reagans 21% inflation, the 1987 stock market crash, the 93 recession and the dotbomb boom. Been there done that. We're not gloomy, we're sanguine about it and when it all blows up in your face we will meet it with a mixture of indifference and relief.

It's the younger generation that's flipping out. Now that 26 is the new 18 and they've all put off adulthood for a decade, it's too late to catch up and do anything more productive than being the SENIOR barrista. Oh well, maybe getting body ink will be a paying job. Good luck with that, slackers.

Anyway why are subsidies a bad thing

Aren't you the folk constantly whining that nothing can be done about renewables until the government gets involved to prod industry? Well what do you think that means in practice? How else did you imagine that renewable energy would take less time and have a better payback than drilling for more oil, which you've already discarded as taking too long and being economically fruitless?

Friday, June 20, 2008 07:37 AM

....a million dollars, a new convertible and....

Really? I would. That's what being a teenager is all about. Anyway, 'nearly half' of 17 is 8. This is about 8 girls. Out of......? My graduating class was 999. If there weren't 50 girls in that class who either were pregnant or had been, I'd be shocked.

Friday, June 20, 2008 11:13 AM

What better time to file?

You're older, the kids are grown, you're living off the bank's money and your medical benefits are going to cost a lot more. My god I'd be working with a tax lawyer big time to hide as much income legitimately as possible and then declare bankruptcy and walk away from that smoking wreck.

Now that more than half of all people with 401K plans are as of today pulling out early and eating the penalty I'd say the only rational approach would be a pre emptive strike and declare bankruptcy before the come looking for you.

Friday, June 20, 2008 11:19 AM

So where does the money go?

Unless it's empty of all cash, the money has to go somewhere. So where does it go? The Mt. Marxist Birkenstock Rainbow Unicorn Rescue Ranch? Or is it transferred in a complex array of opaque transactions to the Obama campaign anyway?

Original article: Japan's new sexbot

Her kids look like the Roomba.

And my blender smells like sex.

Friday, June 20, 2008 11:29 AM

I'll meet you halfway

If you do your Kegels.

Friday, June 20, 2008 12:38 PM

I object to 'psychopath' unless they're using it accurately and strictly

A true psychopath is no more or no less than a person who is ignorant of the difference between right and wrong. They behave aggressively because it's natural for them to think of themselves first. They are more successful, sexually because they tend to be more manipulative. So what your study has concluded is that people who are better at manipulating others, when, applied to sex, tend to be more successful at that too.

No big shock there.

Look at Saudi Arabia

60% of the population is under 18. Barely 2 million Saudis actually have real jobs, with most either collecting on the dole or working in no show government make work. They will either have to create tens of millions of jobs in the next few decades or they will have to continue to rely on the largesse of the kingdom to provide for them.

Look at Pakistan - scheduled to have nearly 300 million people in the next 30 years. And they're poor.

Look at Egypt - on track to be Africa's most populous country soon. Again, few jobs.

Look at Nigeria - today's most populous African nation. Oil production is down 25% because of terrorism and violence. Good luck with that, dudes.

Friday, June 20, 2008 05:03 PM

Tupac Barama?

Now I know Biggie shot him.

Friday, June 20, 2008 09:15 PM

Again

Coal: Bad

Oil: Bad

Nuclear: Bad

Everything is dirty takes too long and won't pay

But starting renewables from scratch and making it affordable w/o any transition costs or disruptions....THAT's the magic free instant solution.

Going 'back' isn't the solution, so I'd love to hear what your plan B is.

Saturday, June 21, 2008 03:27 PM

Ug

Drilling won't take more time than golden unicorn rainbows and other infinite free effortless 1 billion % successful renewable efforts.

Original article: Opus

I was reading where hotels were charging:

Fees to pick (tell you it showed up) and leave (do nothing) FedEx packages.

Fees for 800 phone #'s.

Fees to get you a newspaper.

And so on.

I have to go to Baltimore next month. Much nicer to plug in the MP3 and blast it, while cradled by my own toiletries as I rocket up the highway in a new rented car, than it is to fly. Be about the same time and money.
