Enjoy your life??

Where was it laid down that you're supposed to enjoy your life. Your self-absorption will probably keep you from enjoying life anyway. I've run into unhappy women around your age and older, and there's no sympathy from me (usually)...they dumped their husbands because he wouldn't stay glued to their wants and activities. Or their husbands dumped them in a desperate attempt to enjoy the rest of their lives. You want to find sympathy? Look in the dictionary.

Original article: Rove, proven liar

Not absence of oath, but absence of transcript

Rove would be committing a crime lying to Congress even if there is no oath, just as lying to an FBI agent is a crime (while in many states lying to a cop may not be a crime, absent false report of an incident). It is the absence of a transcript that is key: getting a conviction for lying is about a crime of words, and without a transcript it would be comparatively easy to raise a reasonable doubt as to what Mr. Rove precisely said.

Original article: The real Fox News Democrats

Unwittingly speaketh the truth...

Once I understood a bit about what deconstructionism could do, I have often found it helpful. For example, deconstructing this article -- finding out what the author is unwittingly proving -- leaves us with a sorry picture of many (most?) liberals.

What About Hillary, etc.?

What about candidates who were ineligible for the draft, or otherwise couldn't serve? Am I to assume that Hillary would've fought? Or is this a question about a null set (philosophy-math term actually used by Romney in one of the debates a few weeks ago), i.e., it is true to say both Hillary would have served and Hillary would not have served.

Further, so far as Conason is writing about hypocrisy, what about the endless stream of well-to-do liberals who advocated school integration for us masses while sending their children to either nigh lily-white schools, or private schools that selected their pupils of all races with an electronic microscope? What's at stake here, do as I do? Then I'm going to start hiding my income tax records along with Hillary's Rose law firm bills...they'll turn up after the statute of limitations has run.

Original article: America under surveillance

Just Two Quick Points

1) Salon readers especially are vulnerable to intrusive and pointless surveillance, because they are very important people who are smarter than most Americans.

2) Any problems with government surveillance programs will be remedied once the Democrats take the White House.

What's the problem??

Can 't figure out what LW's problem is. Women are supposed to do household chores like laundry. Stop pussy-whipping this poor guy and get on with it!

Men are different

Never met or heard of a man (maybe celebrities aside) who cared about their looks or appearance in this manner. What's wrong with women? And don't say men's values have put them in this box -- men who care about youthful looking women go out with youthful women.

Original article: Was Obama's speech enough?

I don't like people who embrace Wright

Don't know if I'm still allowed to have an opinion in what looks to be, if Obie becomes prez, an Orwellian society where we will all have to watch what we say, especially if by nature we don't tend to love just about everybody or even feel like talking to them. Wright is repulsive to me, but it means nothing to me what he does with his followers. But Obie wants to be prez, and that puts a bad taste in my mouth. Now obviously I'm a knuckle-dragging war loving greedy evil fool for not running out to buy the "I love everybody" T-shirt, complete with Obie coffee mug. Fact is, folks worrying about $4 gas is going to hurt this guy's candidacy, because it sounds like he's going to be a pain in the ass for us normal people who don't reside in the land of kumbaya and other liberal elite getaways. So he may not win after all. At least McCaine won't go around w/o a flag lapel pin and then go off and make a speech in front of 8 huge flags. What an insult to the flag, and I'm no flag waver. Can you spell "manipulation"?

Libs Still Don't Get How Normal People Think

No matter how many times Rev. Wright is explained/defended, what is at stake remains elusive: people don't give a crap about the Rev., it's Obama that troubles them for liking the Rev. Obama wants to be prez., and we can judge him on the company he keeps. Nobody cares what Wright says, but they care about the likes/dislikes of the prez. You'll see all about this in the fall campaign.

Penalty Should be Proportionate

I would certainly be against the death penalty for her.

Partisan Comments are Illuminating

I disagree with the thesis of this piece. The rough and ready comments being made, not by drunks in bars but by intelligent, experienced, political operatives, are so many flashes of lightning showing us what's otherwise in the dark, i.e., people's unexpressed thoughts and feelings. I want to know people's prejudices, feelings, reactions. Ferraro's comment has been defended as truth, and indeed, it is hard to imagine Obama getting out of the state legislature if he were white, other he might have made it to the House of Representatives eventually. But since when is it proper to only say things that pass the mass p.c. test? "Judas" is an expression that easily fits the former presidential "candidate" with the down home goatee. I say bring it on and bring it out. If you shut it down (not that you could), Obama won't have anything to work with, ha!

Obama Arrogant? Impossible!

It is absurd to think Obama could be arrogant. That's like saying God is arrogant.
